  • Ok, but not amazing....
Color: Pure White
I basically wanted a wardrobe without the hanging rod. Just a big cabinet with shelves because I think it's so much easier to see things in a cabinet than in dresser drawers. It's an awkward sized cabinet. Width is good, but maybe if it was a little taller, it wouldn't look so squatty. Like other reviewers have stated, this arrived pretty dinged up. I can't believe it isn't packed better for shipping. The doors are a little wonky, too (it was tricky lining up the magnetic closures). Overall, it's basically fine but not amazing. ... show more

  • Great product
Color: Pure White
Great purchase; perfect height and depth. Fits very well as a linen closet in my master bathroom. Assembly was not very easy. But it worked out.

  • Enough storage, fairly sturdy, but needs work. Even for the price.
Color: Pure Black
It's fairly sturdy for the price. However it definitely has some issues that shouldn't be that hard to get right. It could be better packaged, with at least a thin piece of cardboard between parts, so that the don't slide on each other and get scuffed up. It has two different back cover pieces. One is pretty sturdy, but the other one is really flimsy and bowed. They at least give you enough nails to pin down the bowed parts. On my unit, the doors don't line up, and I didn't put them on wrong either. The top two are too close together, and hit when you try to close them. Even fully set back in the hinges, those doors are too close. I have to line them up and close them together to get them to close, which forces them apart. I'd rather have to shim them to take up slack than need to remove material to make them not hit. The bottom doors are the right distance apart, and they're even almost level. The only problem is that they are shifted about 1/4 inch to the left compared to the top doors. Once again I'd be looking at shimming one side and cutting a mortise in the other. Not easy, or worth the trouble. The magnets also don't hold to doors closed on the bottom, so I ended up taping some stronger magnets to the magnetic catch while I wait for better ones to arrive. Last but not least, the adjustable shelf pegs should be metal. Even if it raises the price of the unit a dollar or two it'd be worth it. Overall it's cheap, not awful to put together, and has good storage space. It's deeper than any of the other cabinets of this type I've seen. That said there's definitely room for improvement, even if it makes it cost a tiny bit more. ... show more

  • This cabinet is VERY fragile.
Color: Weathered Oak
This cabinet is VERY fragile. The assambly parts are cheaply made and barely hold it together. The whole thing creaks with the slightest horizontal movement. It will certainly not survive a move. The doors don't align correctly because the predrilled holes are not precisely measured. Parts of the finish peeled when removing the tape they were shipped with. The price for a cabinet of this poor quality should not exceed $120 (and that's being generous). I'm only keeping this because its measurements fit a very specific area in which I needed a deep cabinet. If you're buying this be ready to reinforce it (I had to) with L brackets inside and/or flat L brackets and T brackets in the back. It really is that weak. ... show more

  • Pretty Good
Color: Pure Black
I have never purchased or owned a real piece of furniture... you know... the kind that someone else puts together and is made out of real wood. But... I have to say.... the South Shore brand of "furniture" is probably some of the nicest "put it together yourself" furniture you can find. Let me be clear though... you *must* take your time and follow the instructions to the letter. And if you are stumped about something try putting it where it looks like it needs to go *before* tightening anything. As someone who has put my own furniture together for most of my life I have also found that having a nice big bottle of Wood Glue on hand is a huge help and will add *years* of use to your items (if you only glue it in the places that are *permanently* connected while assembling). All in all I am very happy with the South Shore brand. It is relatively easy to put together, looks pretty good, is very sturdy (for what it is) and is relatively plumb and square after assembled (unlike the bargain stuff you get at some mass merchandisers). I don't regret buying any of the South Shore products I have. If you are looking for a practical and affordable furniture "solution" I highly recommend you check out the South Shore brand (I have 5 different pieces and all of them are great). (I would have given this unit 5 stars but it comes in a very long box and is extremely awkward and heavy... the item was damaged in transit... Amazon and South Shore made it right... but it is nearly impossible for the Fed Ex or UPS people to handle this unit by themselves) ... show more

  • It's sturdy, but wrong parts and misaligned.
Color: Pure Black
It was a little tricky to put together but it's sturdy, (have had it for about a month now) not wobbly or rickety. We were shipped 4 of the same door though, and didn't know it until we'd gotten the rest of it put together. The only way to rectify it via amazon would have been to take the whole thing apart to return it for an exchange. Not worth it. When I say 4 of the same door, I mean that it should have been two of one set up (where the handle (and therefore also part of the magnet latch) should have been positioned vs hinges) and two of the other. It's difficult to try to explain, but suffice it to say that the end result would not have been with all four door handles/latches meeting in the middle as they should. We fixed it our selves by drilling our own holes. We also had to fix how the hinges aligned. As it came the doors didn't line up properly. If we had checked such things before assembling 90% of it, it wouldn't have been a big deal to return it. It was just far less trouble to spend an extra 30 minutes drilling a few holes. If you have the tools handy and don't mind improvising, the design and materials are great provided you don't encounter similar issues. If you don't have the tools or don't want to go to the trouble, it would probably be a good idea to make sure the doors all line up properly, by making sure the hinges are level on either side, and that all the handles/latches arrange the way they are meant to before assembling the rest of it. ... show more
