  • Very good bed for the price.
This was a gift for our teen daughter and she loves it. I was not happy with the packaging when it arrived. The box for teh bed had been torn apart on one end, and tape was wrapped around the box holding together the pieces of cardboard. But upon opening and inspecting the boards were fine. There was only one very small scratch on the headboard whose box was not torn apart. But it was on an area that can not be seen when assembled. The assembly was difficult as I have a bad back and arthritis, not because of anything with the manufacturer. The pilot holes for some of the screws were barely there, and this made driving in the screws flush difficult also. One board had a couple holes drilled so slightly off center that we could not insert the bolts, as they were to go into metal inserts in the other board. I used a drill with a bit the same size as the hole to add a few micrometers to one side of the hole and the bolts went in with no problem. Two of the pilot holes for the drawer rails were way off the mark, so I used 2 instead of 3 screws for each rail on the drawer, and this seemed to work fine. If it seems to be loose after a few days use I will take the drawer out and add the 3rd screw on each side. My teen daughter and I were able to get it and the headboard together in about 2 hours with a short break in the middle. It seems solid, but I would not trust it with two large adults without more structure underneath. If I order one for my wife and I, I plan on adding more wood at the cross bracers, as the ones that come with it are half width, with small "feet" attached with screws. I would prefer the bracers go from the bottom of the platform to the floor, the same as the sides. ... show more

  • Cute but many pieces came damaged a bit disappointed for price
Color: Gray Oak Style: Bed Only
The bed frame is extremely cute, but for the price point the wood pieces came with plenty of cracks and chips. Recommends not to use drill but some installation is so tedious only a drill would work for efficiency and to save hands from strain. Was disappointed to see lots of the pieces were slightly damaged. Will not be returning because it does look nice. Installation is fairly easy make sure to read directions closely. Keep in mind no extra screws are given so be careful not to lose screws in installation process. ... show more

  • Looks nice, but make sure you have two people to set it up
This is the first review I have ever written of a product i bought off amazon and thought it was really important to let people know about this bed. Visually, it is exactly as it appears in the photo. The finish is a deep, glossy black and i bought it with the headboard which looks great. The pieces of the bed are also extremely heavy (I think it's made from some kind of super strong condensed particle board) which gives it some solidity. You can definitely use this bed for more than sleeping (hint, hint) and it won't fall apart. The problems arise from putting it together. Admittedly, I put it together myself, being a stupid macho man who thinks he can do everything himself with no-one's help. it took me four and a half hours and by the time i was done i had a blister on my thumb and on my index finger, and have had sore hamstrings for four days from bending over continuously to pick up different screws. This bed is monstrously difficult to put together. There are about 7 different kinds of screws, a lot of the pieces look the same, the screws are extremely difficult to put in with just a screwdriver - hope you have a drill - and to top it off some of the pieces don't fit together very well and you have to bang them into place with a hammer which risks denting the finish. On top of this one crucial piece was missing - the tracks which connect to the inside of the drawer and allow it to slide in and out were missing. It's a two-piece assembly and one of the pieces was not in the box. Therefore the drawer is just sitting limply under the bed, and I have no intention of storing anything in it. Finally, there is a horizontal cross-bar which you screw onto the end of the bed to prevent the slats from moving around. This bar is screwed in using flat-headed silver screws, which are too short and don't secure the bar well enough; it came off almost immediately. In summary, this bed is gorgeous looking (it really is) and sturdy, but if you are looking for something that is easy to put together and doesn't make you want to hate all "assembly required" products for all eternity, avoid this bed like the bubonic plague. I would give it two and a half stars but they didn't have this option. ... show more

  • Overall, a good product.
From arrival to setup: Packaging: The bed was packaged well, but not amazingly. As it is a heavy item (heavy items end up on the bottom of delivery truck package stacks, or randomly thrown into an "all irregular/heavies" truck), I would recommend that the company place the package within a second box to protect against cosmetic damage. Again, they already do a decent job at protecting the package, but not enough. Opening/Defects: Slight cosmetic damage to a piece that will likely never be seen. A marker is included to hide such damages, but.. It's a marker. One piece had the pre-drilled holes on the wrong side of the board (meaning that the unfinished side would be visible). Moving the package is definitely a 2-person job, but assembly can be easily done by any single person. If you don't have another person, the package can be opened, and the parts can be moved independently to your build location. Assembly: If you read the instructions carefully, you will be fine. The only hard to understand part (in my opinion), was that the drawer sliders have a part (black plastic) that must be depressed to separate them. One part attaches to the bed, the other part attaches to the drawer, and then they recombine to get your working drawer. It is also important to remember that you snugly fit the top boards together so that you can connect them all with the final piece. Once assembled, the bed does not seem like it would be easy to take apart, or sturdy enough to move too terribly far. A great, affordable solution. It does look a little "odd" with a queen mattress, but it still works. I do recommend purchasing a headboard or shelving for the head portion of the bed. ... show more
