Perfect amplifier for me and my set-up! Has the right dynamics for a bump up to the next level of quality sound on your factory unit! It's not a blaster for competition. It provides only 50 watts at 4 ohms to four speakers (which is significant). I'm pleased with the performance and does not get hot beneath the driver's seat! If you see reviews about the unit getting hot or doesn't pump up the wattage, that's because they're not too familiar with how the system works. As long as you know the speakers wattage and max capability, any amplifier will work. Lastly, you'll know what type of speakers you'll have once you know that actual (nominal/RMS) operating wattage of the speakers. Any speaker that's significant in cost may be that it can handle a lot of wattage with a high RMS/Nominal range of 90 watts and higher. Less expensive speakers won't be used for competition sounds. So...use the right amplifier for the speakers you have or plan to get. This amplifier works perfect and serves my needs. Very happy with it and you will too!

This 400w amp is a good upgrade from factory sound. However, the 1200w amp on my sub can easily overpower it with bass. Had to turn it way down. My speakers (infinity reference 5.25 in front, jbl reference 6x9 in the back) can handle more, but this works great. I have no issues with overheating over two hour drives (and it is suffocating in my glovebox...). Overall I am satisfied with the quality for the price I paid during a holiday sale. It must have been $30 or so on sale. This was my first amp installation, and I have no regrets. However my next amp will definitely be more powerful. This amp WILL distort at high volume, so adjust the gain with the dials until max volume is clear. If you want something simple that will give you better sound for a good price, buy this amp. I have no complaints about this amp for the price and power range advertised.

The manual states 50W x 4@4ohms RMS. This is definitely false advertising (like all the low-grade chinese garbage). No difference in volume level from my Clarion head unit - unless you count the distortion this amp puts out. It's more likely 25Wx4 rms. Never again will I be a cheap skate and buy another amp by one of these bargain bin companies. I just wanted a little more sound in my boat. I *may* have decided to keep this amp, but the bass was so distorted, I thought my sub was blown. Good thing I had a variety of extra speakers around for testing. The crossover section is worthless for the most part. 200hz hi pass makes the mid sound REALLY thin, forcing you to use full range mode. Low pass is 100hz. The amp looks great, was very easy to hook up and that's about the only good thing I can say about it (the only quality that earned a star) Returned to amazon and I purchased a MB Quart Marine NAU460, which is a TRUE 60W RMS x 4 @4ohms. All I can say is, the MB Quart blows the SoundStorm out of the water!! (yeah I know, it's 2.5x more expensive but you're getting 240+ watts vs ~100 and 10X better sound quality) The SS has a single 15A fuse whereas the MBQ has twin 25A. Do yourself a favor and spend a few more bucks on a real amp or you will regret it. With 20+ yrs of install experience, I should have known better. There are companies like JBL and MBQ that sell reasonable priced amps that will put the SS to shame.

Purchased this amp as a low cost replacement for a old amp that finally blew a cap and stopped working. Didnt expect much from it, it was cheap and compact, which is exactly what i was looking for. To my surprise, this amp is much more than i expected...It is very clear running good quality RCA's and 8 Gauge wire to a solid ground. I have this in our boat with two 6 x 9 infinity kappas and two10 inch JL Audio subs and have no issues at all.. It has plenty of punch for a low cost amp and even without a noise suppressor, it is very clear. Most noise issues are not due to the amp, they are due to bad ground.

First things first, NO, this amp is NOT a massive powerhouse. It's a fullrange 4 channel amp that takes up almost ZERO space, has 4 channels, 1&2 have a high pass filter, 3&4 have a low pass filter, and it has 2 separate RCA inputs. That combo is VERY rare, and the price is very acceptable for the feature list. On to the review! I'm using this amp in a "Tool box" speaker system I built. I have 2 SLA batteries wired in parallel as a power source, I'm using a balancing RC battery charger as an internal charger, it outputs 6amps and will balance the batteries at 15v. I'm using an old walmart special touch screen bluetooth head unit as the audio source, two Skar EVL-65 D4's wired down to 2 ohms each on channel 3 and 4, two SSL 6x9's on channels 1 and 2, both channels are set to their respective crossover. I need to find a better tool box to package the whole setup in but for now the concept works a little too well. Our downstairs neighbors (they're on the 1st floor, we're on the 3rd) said they could feel the bass when I turned it up 3/4 of the way. I've got a bunch of trucks at work (I'm the fleet mechanic) that our guys want a better stereo in, this amp will be getting put in every single one of their trucks, if corporate approves us modifying the stereo systems.

You people are always talking sh@t about brands like soundstorm. I bought this amp with an ssl eq and it's the best sound I've ever had in my car. This amp works great for your mids. It doesn't get hot either, just warm. I ran it for 5 hours to put it to the test and and it played like a champ. I recommend this to anyone. This amp is around $200.00 less than kicker, jl, alpine, infinity, rockford, ext, and it plays just as good. I also have a soundstorm head unit and all my mids are soundstorm. In my opinion soundstorm makes great affordable products.
