Description

Skar Audio engineered the RP-1200.1D Class D monoblock subwoofer amplifier to be dominant in both power and reliability compared to anything else on the market in its' class. Designing the most efficient, well built, high quality amplifiers is where we start here at Skar Audio, and that is exactly what is delivered in the RP-1200.1D. The RP-1200.1D is 1-ohm stable and utilizes a wide array premium internal components that make it extremely powerful and reliable - such as its high speed MOSFET power supply and advanced PCB board layout. Conservatively rated at 1,200 watts RMS power at a 1-ohm load, with the capabilities of reaching beyond 1,600 watts at max power output. This amplifier is by far one of the most popular and affordable mono-blocks we have ever released, and is great for powering a pair of 600 watt rms subwoofers or a single 1,200 watt rms subwoofer. Furthermore, the oversized 4-gauge power and ground terminals found on the amplifier allow for maximum current flow and therefore higher power output and more efficient operation. You'll have full reign over your amplifier with the built-in user control panel, featuring a bass EQ switch (0, +6, +12dB), and variable adjustment tunings for gain level, low-pass filter, and subsonic filter. In addition to all the above features, this model also features 4-way protection circuitry, which will give the user the peace of mind knowing they are protected against damage to the amplifier for various reasons - including electrical shortage, overheating, low voltage, and more. This amplifier comes with a remote subwoofer level control (bass knob) allowing the user to have full control over their bass from the front of the vehicle.

This amp is one of those “budget but actually hits” type of pieces. If you’re trying to get solid bass without emptying your wallet, it does the job. First off, the power is legit. Rated at 1200W RMS at 1 ohm, and it actually gets close to that in real use. It’s more than enough for a daily system and will push your subs hard if everything is wired right. The bass hits strong and punchy. Not competition clean, but definitely loud enough to feel it in your chest. Perfect for a daily driver setup. Now… let’s be real: The sound quality is average. It’s not trash, but it’s not some high-end SQ amp either. This is more about loud bass than perfect clarity. The amp also runs a little hot if you’re pushing it hard for long periods. Nothing crazy, but don’t treat it like it’s bulletproof. And like always with Skar, your electrical matters. If your voltage drops, this thing is gonna act up. It’s not forgiving. Cons: Sound quality is just okay Can run warm under heavy use Not built for abuse or competition setups Needs decent electrical to perform right Pros: Strong real-world power for the price Hits hard for daily bass Affordable and easy to find Simple setup, good for beginners Overall: If you want loud, affordable bass, this amp delivers. Amazing amp! Takes beefy power wires too so when I upgrade from the sdr12 all I need to do is the big 3. Works great with a quality LOC that provides its own remote and when you’re not running it at its full potential it doesn’t get too warm. For a first amp install to see where your skills are at this is a great choice. For sure would recommend getting the 4 AWC OFC wiring kit for this, you will need more speaker wires depending on where your speakers are ... show more

    • Throws hard punches but is NOT GOOD for LOW HZ

EDIT: I gave this one more star due to the fact this amp does work well and does last. Its a good build quality I did not expect from SKAR. I have used it every day (almost) for the past 9 months, often at near full volume with everything vibrating and flexing, paired with ONE Sundown SA-12. I still stand behind my statement about this not producing very low Hz like I was used to with my old class A/B amp, and it is absolutely noticeable on certain songs. I have done many low Hz tests and this amp just does not hit certain ones. It does get extremely loud though and hits well. That being said, its still a great amp and was built to last under above average consistent usage. I purchased this amp to replace my vintage KOLE Audio amp and wired it to one Sundown SA-12. The SKAR 1200 has very "punchy" bass but does not get very low. My old KOLE amp that had half the power of this hit lows soo good and you could feel the low bass. With this SKAR you do not get that at all, I am very disappointed. For that reason I may be returning this. The only difference I can see is the old KOLE is a CLASS A/B and this SKAR is a CLASS D. Not sure if that has anything to do with my loss of lows but it should not. I have everything tuned correctly and it still misses the low HZ. Back to square 1 now. Any suggestions? All in all this is a decent amp that has power, but if you want something that gets low and has clarity keep looking! ... show more

I’m running 2 15inch skar sdr series subs, with 0 gauge wire and it BOOMS. The amp will obviously get hot but that’s only if you and drawing a lot of amps for long periods of time, I’ve had it for years and it’s preforming like brand new. I’ve actually got it so hot it made the skar lettering come off and it still hits to this day. ... show more

I have two fosgate P3 D-4. 600 watt each. I’m using sealed boxes and so far no complaints. Hit very solid bringing back sweet memories of my youth😂. I’m 54. A friend of mine recommended Skar as I have been out the car system for over 10 years. I thought I was keeping it moderate at 1/3 but goodness it is rattling my house windows. So far no heating issues, I played it one night for about 4 hrs straight. I have a 45 minute drive to work and was getting kind of bored now I seem to drive my work car everywhere. I have a bmw 428 two door coupe with back seat delete so the subs are in that spot. No rattling just solid bass with two Skar tweeters. I haven’t changed the head unit, and everything is just hitting clean and solid. Remote is a plus. ... show more
