Smooth casting and reeling

I ordered this right before a trout trip to use on a spare rod. I ordered the 1000 size which is the typical size used for trout fishing. When it arrived I discovered that this was closer to a 2000 size reel, significantly bigger than your typical 1000 size reel. Look at the line capacity as a slightly better guide for size. The reel feels pretty smooth when you simply turn the crank. The drag feels reasonably smooth as well. The reel casts fine which is easier to achieve on a low cost spinning reel than a baitcaster. There seems to be a lot there for such a modest price. But here are the finer points that reflect that low price point. When reeling in against a bit of resistance you can hear some rubbing between the reel and spool, or reel and the bail rotor. It it not loud but is noticeable. Then I noticed that line roller arm flexes a lot from a static test just flexing it with modest pressure. I imagine this is happening whenever you are reeling against any sort of resistance. The other side of the bail arm also flexes as well. I compared this to a low end Shimano and while it had some flex, it was less than half of what this reel has. For myself I would opt to pay a little more to avoid some of these potential issues. If someone is on a tight budget (<$20) then this may still work ok.
