Surprisingly high quality rod and reel, plus it fits easily into my motorcycle saddle bag. I hate to say it but this would be worth it at double the price. The reel is excellent and the rod is strong yet sensitive. Unbelievably good value, I’m actually shocked!

This was the first "real" (forgive the pun) fishing combo I've owned since I was a teenager. It does the main thing that fishing rods are supposed to do, namely cast lures and retrieve them. The reel is very smooth, and the drag has a smooth progressive adjustment. The main knock on this product is that the ring holding the reel to the rod has a tendency to repeatedly work loose (nothing a little duct tape or a zip tie can't fix), and sometimes the carbon fiber segments twist a little relative to each other during use. The included tackle is fairly "meh," but given that losing lures and tackle is a large part of fishing, that's kind of to be expected. Additionally, the rod is significantly less sensitive than a one or two piece rod of the same length, but this is an eminently foreseeable byproduct of the rig's telescoping construction. I'll probably snag another one if Amazon has a sale. ... show more

Line got caught on something in the lake, probably vegetation, the line didn’t drag and instead my rod snapped. I’m not a professional but I do fish a lot and this has never happened to me before. ***Update: The seller reached out to me and offered to send me a replacement rod which I feel is exceptional customer service. Seems to be well made, casts nice, easy to stow, takes a little while to figure out best extending technique. I found pulling straight out WITHOUT twisting but make it just snugg enough to stay, otherwise it’s hard to retract. Don’t use the eyes to twist it back in.
