I purchased a 2004 Lincoln Town Car Ultimate last summer and have always wanted to put in an aftermarket head unit to go with my subwoofer, but for a long time I couldn't find anything on the market that I thought was subtle enough to match the interior of the car. However, the latest version of the XAV-AX5000 looks perfect; almost factory! I highly recommend this unit to anyone who drives an older luxury car who is looking for something that isn't mostly shiny black plastic riddled with accent lighting, over-the-top knobs, and futuristic font choices. Disclaimer: I haven't experimented with a lot of the features of this unit; I don't use satellite radio at all and rarely listen to AM/FM, but from what I can tell they seem to work fine. Lots of preset options for the radio. Pros: - The dimmer dims the screen A LOT. I don't enjoy driving some newer vehicles at night because I find the screen distracting, even at their dimmest setting - not so with this one. Also, when the dimmer is switched on, Android Auto goes into a "night mode" where the screens in Google Maps, Waze, and whatever audio you have playing use darker gray/blue instead of white (see attached pictures). - Physical volume rocker and fast forward/rewind buttons. Makes it a lot easier to control while driving instead of stabbing at a touch screen and hoping you hit the right spot. They're illuminated, but they also dim with the screen dimmer. - Backup camera capability. If you're gonna get one of these units, get a $30 camera to go with it. It's well worth it. Also, you can have it display on the screen while you're driving down the road, which is kinda fun. - The capacitive touch screen works really well. No more repeated stabbing at a mushy resistive screen; this is one of the other reasons I bought this unit. Con (yes, singular, and a minor one at that): - You (currently) can't have custom wallpapers beyond the 6 or 7 that are included. Doesn't really bother me too much because the green one perfectly matches the green on my gauges, but it would be nice to be able to have options.

I bought this unit to replace my OEM head unit that came with my '06 Corolla. I purchased the unit from Amazon and had geek squad technicians install it at best buy here in Atlanta, GA. I bought all the parts which I listed below (also purchased off Amazon except the wiring harness) with the help of Crutchfield I was able to determine the specific parts I needed. Make sure if you follow in my shoes you order the Advanced In-Dash Navigation or In-Dash Video Installation for $99 according to the technicians at best buy the $64 option isn't for this unit or similar units. However, save yourself the trouble and buy all the parts (listed below) off Amazon and save yourself some cash. I put this disclaimer in but the Metra 70-1761 Radio Wiring Harness For Toyota 87-Up Power 4 Speaker required for wiring this unit up to the vehicles existing harness was price matched and purchased from best buy as well. They wanted $17 for it so I showed the Amazon listing and they matched Amazon's price of $4.98. If you follow this step as well remember to ask for the wiring harness from the install bay do not get them from the shelf near the car radios because they won't price match that. This unit is amazing and I'm mainly using it for its Apple Car Play functionality and being able to mirror Spotify and Google Maps on my head unit is amazing and being able to hear sound through my car speakers makes it even better. The unit's screen is just as responsive as your smartphone. The sound is crisp and clean and this is coming from my car's OEM speakers. I personally chose this unit because I don't play CD/DVD's, I have no use for the in-dash navigation that comes with higher end head units, and all the extra bells and whistles that aren't necessary to me. The unit looks almost stock and clean in general with end to end bezels. BUY IT! you can purchase your vehicle harness on Amazon to make for an easy plug and play process. If you’ve never swapped a head unit before, it’s a 4 out of 10 difficulty process. Easy to install and easy to connect a 3rd party camera. I love the Audi settings and how easy it is to use Apple car play. Firmware was up to date so I had 0 problems after install. Hands down, worth every penny!!! Also your driving experience will be so much better knowing you have such an awesome stereo/charging cable ((which by the way is FAST CHArging)). I think this is one of the better units on the market, and it’s BETTER THAN MY 2018 Silverado smart system.

Pros This thing is super fast to boot, and instantaneous to turn on the backup camera from a cold start. Navigating the GUI is super quick, and the capacitive screen is a key feature I was chasing. The Apple Carplay feature works great. The screen is about as big as you can get in a double-din size, and I like that there is an attenuation button to turn the volume down quickly. RDS does display artist info on FM. Has backup lines that are configurable, or can be turned off. Clean GUI and simple iconography, which I prefer over the gaudy competition. Equalizer has plenty of bands, plus bass boost option -- I had no trouble dialing in the sound to my preference. 4v pre-outs is apparently a bonus, but I've never compared to 2v pre-outs to hear the difference. Cons Some carplay apps are lacking (no webex app for conference calls) or lack key features (podcasts have 30 second fast forwarding, but Spotify has zero fast forwarding). SiriusXM works great, but it has zero channel logos and no satellite rewinding. Both Sirius and FM radio have tons of screen real estate but show artist/song info in a small scrolling area -- that's inexcusable. Backup camera lines is just a box, no red/yellow/green indicators and certainly no trajectory. No auxiliary 3.5mm input on front or back. Phone feature over bluetooth lacks a keypad and lacks a mute button (this sucks).

It's a simple unit without many features. But it works and sounds good, sometimes there is a problem getting Bluetooth to connect , and I'm not a fan of the two USB cables that are connected to the back of the unit, they need to routed from under the dash to use them. It's a decent unit for the price.

Installed with a friend in about 3hrs. Works great, very smooth. I expected the screen to be laggy as almost every head unit I’ve seen but this one is very smooth and responsive. Apple CarPlay works great (main reason I’ve bought it), sound quality is better and looks very clean/has an attractive design. Got it for a great price from Secondipity. Very satisfied.

Purchased this unit to replace the OEM cd player/radio in my 2008 f-150 and could not be happier with it. It was basically plug and play, with the bus connector and brackets suggested with it. Did not mention I needed an antenna adapter, but thatr's on me for not double checking. Wiring was simple enough - wires basically matched colors across the connectors, but note: my truck doesn't have a powered antenna, a suib/amplifier, nor at this time, a backup camera, so those wires wren't needed and I pinched them back out of the way.

Put this unit in a 2002 F250. Big improvement over old cassette radio. Screen is very good and easy to read. Also touchscreen is reliable even with very dry hands. Sound quality is excellent with factory speakers. Hands free Bluetooth is good but sometimes fails to recognize phone. This is usually cured by plugging phone into usb. Then after awhile it can be unplugged and Bluetooth will recognize it. This radio remembers only one phone at a time. Each new phone that is Bluetooth with it causes it to forget previous phones. This is a major limitation for me that I did not know when I bought this radio. My other cars have factory radios that will remember at least 4 phones with one car doing as many as 10. Apple CarPlay works well with this radio. Have not tried Android auto. The radio provides really no customization. The screen color can be changed and that’s really it. Aside from Bluetooth connectivity the main other negative is that the screen is too bright at night. It has a night mode but screen brightness can’t be directly controlled. The night mode brightness is far too bright so the only option is to turn off the screen which requires some fishing around in the menus.
