  • The First Accessory I Bought for my A7RII
The media could not be loaded. The Vertical grip by Sony is a substantial piece of equipment as noted by the feel and the price. It fits flawlessly with my A7rII and feels fantastic. You have to remove the battery cover on the camera and please do this carefully. On my Canon you tugged the cover off but on the Sony you press a button. Find the button, it will release the pins that go in the hinges. The button is on the door itself. The grip takes two of the sony batteries and interacts well with the camera. The camera gives you battery strength. The grip can control the Auto/ manual focus, your camera settings that you programmed, allowing you to keep your controls close to your fingers. It's weird, in a way i bought the camera because of the size and add this to it!! Oddly for me, the camera was really heavy until I added the grip. Must be the balance of weight because it became must easier to carry. The grip is the first accessory I bought for my A7RII, Double the power and better holding angles. ... show more

  • Good practical option for A7 series, especially A7RII
This grip works great on the A7RII. Since I use the big Sony 28-135mm f/4 lens, the grip enables me to securely hold the camera. It holds two batteries, replacing one inside the camera so you have double the battery capacity. Its two batteries fit in a little slide-out tray, and it consumes the outside battery first. This allows replacing just that battery without pulling out the tray. When switching between using the grip vs the camera by itself, the battery door on the camera must be removed and attached to the post on the grip. There is a little lever and release button on the battery door that makes this fairly quick and easy, once you get the hang of it. ... show more

  • Excellent build quality.
Feels great in the hand. Excellent build quality. Nice how it uses one battery ar a time. After battery one dies it jumps to battery 2. Very easy to judge the battery life. Also works and feels great vertically. I started out with the cheap Vivitar that came in the bundle with the camera and it was junk. ... show more

  • Great grip.
Works well, lightweight, good functionality and feel. I don't know how important this is to others but this grip doesn't feel like I added something to the body it look and feels apart of it. I've had some where you can feel the difference with material and size and this one is the best feeling I've ever had and I've been shooting for 7 years. ... show more

  • Makes the camera look and feel more professional!
The Sony A7sII is a small camera, I mean very small especially when jumping ship from the Canon 5d line. So this made all the difference to me while shooting. Because I shot one wedding without it, then that night ordered this because the camera was uncomfortably small. This gives it a more professional look and feel and I guess it doubles battery life too haha! I love that it drains each battery separately instead of simultaneously. Because that way, I can look and see either battery 1 or 2 is drained and just swap it out then continue shooting. Very helpful at a wedding because I'm not constantly watching the battery like I was without it. ... show more

  • The grip was built in very good quality, and it's easy to operate
As a Sony fan, I almost wanted to give it five star to this product. But I felt I have to be responsible to whoever is reading my review. The grip was built in very good quality, and it's easy to operate. It extends the battery life as well as the holding area of the grip. However, the short come is that the vertical grip is much more narrower that the regular one, which bugs me a lot. It is literally as wide as one of my finger. Regardless of how narrow it is, it's also just a pin to adapt to two different widths of grips on one camera. When you spend extra money buying so called Genuine Parts, you are expecting the best user's experience. But I have to say this vertical grip still has space to improve. Other than the shape design, I'd like to see charging function on it as well. Or give us a charger that charges two batteries at the same time, like some third party chargers do. ... show more

  • The Answer to Battery Life Woes
All the boohoo'ing over the battery life of the A7R II is muted by this awesome addition to the mirrorless setup. I don't worry too much about whether I charged or packed extra batteries anymore unless I know I'll be on a full 8 hour day of shooting. The feel of the grip is extremely close to the texture of the original Sony body. Adds enough grip on the bottom edge to make the A7R II feel more comfortable in the hand and easier to shoot as it balances out heavier lenses nicely. If you own an A7R II and you need the extra battery life and balance to your rig, give this a go and you won't be disappointed. ... show more
