I am upgrading my previous Sony S100F that I bought about 4 years ago. The S100F was my first ever soundbar and is a lower tier soundbar at around 125 dollars, but has been nothing but impressive and it is still a great bar for a small room. So moving to a lower tier, high-end realm of soundbars was a little intimiadating. I had just purchased an Sony X85K Series TV and a Sony Playstation so I thought I would try an all Sony entertainment center. So far I am very impressed with this soundbar. We play a lot of games and watch plenty of horror and action movies so I was pleasantly surprised with the overall sound quality and the clarity of dialog of characters, especially in Hogwarts Legacy. There are also a bunch of features that comes with hooking up the soundbar a Sony TV that I am excited to try out when I get my TV later this week.     • You need the rear speakers or it’s not worth it

I was replacing a 15 year old bose soundbar. I waited until Black Friday to get the soundbar and 200w sub, and honestly I was disappointed because the improved bass came at the expense of lesser overall sound quality (not that Sony is bad, Bose is just that good). At the time I didn’t want to drop $2k on a complete Bose set up. I got the RS5 rear speakers on cyber Monday and I felt like it redeemed the whole purchase. The surround sound effect is really awesome. Altogether I spent $1278, I wouldn’t have paid $1699 I don’t think. It’s a shame because Bose is just such superior quality, and so the Sony speakers and subwoofer alone left me disappointed overall with my “upgrade”. But like I said, I needed the rear speakers to make it worth it to me. If you’re not going to get the whole setup, I’d just go with a Bose soundbar. ... show more

super easy plug and play with my Sony X90 and the sound is very impressive for the size of the unit. Everything works seamlessly and the Atmos effects are great when streaming via Apply Tv. The sound is actually pretty immersive with convincing bass and clear dialogue. Definitely a great purchase, not sure I need anything more but this unit is expandable with optional sub and satellites, however, I think that is going to be overkill for my needs since I only stream a few things here and there and play a few titles on the PS5 that will lead me to actually turning up the volume. ... show more

This is a great soundbar if you have a Sony Bravia TV with eARC support, that way you can utilize all the features. For 360 sound mapping, you'll need Sony's rear speakers to use that but it's awesome with it. If you can get soundbar for under $500 (not a good buy for MSRP $700), I do recommend it for a smaller room. Rear speakers enhances the performance by 2-3x depending on if you go with the higher end rears from Sony but that cost around $600. Look for a price drop for those ones too. Excellent soundbar for a small space...just remember to go into advanced settings/Advanced Auto Volume to make sure that the soundbar is set to automatically adjust the volume to the input signal. I didn't do this at first and thought the volume was too low and the sound mediocre. This little change corrected everything, and I now love the soundbar. I have the Sony Bravia OLED A80K TV, so this makes great pairing!!!! ... show more

The sound quality wasn’t impressive. Pricey too! The lack of a subwoofer is problem for your listening enjoyment. Update: Decided to purchase the VIZIO M-Series 5.1.2 Immersive Sound Bar with Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Bluetooth, Wireless Subwoofer, Voice Assistant Compatible, Includes Remote Control - M512a-H6 from Amazon and I love it.
