Features 3
- The FE 14mm F1.8 GM delivers incredible G Master quality and performance with a new perspective from an ultra- wide-angle field of view and bright F1.8 aperture -- all in a compact and lightweight design. Ideal for astrophotography, architecture, landscape, and even portraits and movie shooting, it delivers extraordinary resolution and gorgeous bokeh with precision focus performance. Two XA (extreme aspherical) elements, one aspherical, two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass and one Super ED element coupled with Nano AR coating II all contribute to high-contrast, high-resolution results with corner-to-corner sharpness and dramatically reduce chromatic aberration, flare and ghosting.
- F1.8 max 9-blade circular aperture maximizes the beauty of this large-aperture prime-lens, contributing to impressive images in which the subject stands out against a smoothly defocused foreground and background, as well as perfectly round points of defocused light. One Super ED (Extra-low Dispersion) and two ED glass elements significantly reduce flare and ghosting by taking axial chromatic aberration and chromatic aberration (due to differences in magnification) out of the picture. Resolution and bokeh is maximized while leaving precisely rendered edges with no fringing or unnatural coloration right out to the image edges.
- Clear advantages for moviemaking for all types of content creators with the ultra-wide 14mm angle of view, two XD (Extreme Dynamic) Linear Motors for fast, precise autofocus and tracking, a bright F1.8 maximum aperture for beautifully defocused background bokeh, excellent close-up performance and a class leading compact and lightweight design. In addition to the small size and light weight, its internal focus design makes it convenient for use on compact gimbals or grips for vlogging and other applications.

Great lens, you wont be disappointed
Style: SEL14F18GM
This lens is a great wide-angle lens, especially great for astrophotography. Image quality is impressive from center to edge, with beautiful detail and contrast in low-light conditions. The only downside is that the filter system isn’t my favorite. It can be awkward to use. Overall, it’s a high-quality lens that delivers stunning results, especially for night sky and landscape shots. One of my top 3 favorite lenses.

Virtually distortion free superwide
Style: SEL14F18GM
If you enjoy landscape, architectural, street, or astro photography... well, you have found your lens. This lens is "fun" and provides opportunity for some fantastic creativity. Obviously it is fast, has great AF, and smooth aperture racking (when you need it)... in a relatively small, lightweight package. The bulbous front element will make filtering inconvenient, requiring either lens mounted brackets or using plastic/film filters cut to shape behind the lens. Having said that, I don't often use an ND & CS filter when shooting with this lens... so this doesn't bother me. I was considering the 12-24 2.8 but the size & cost deterred me and I am happy with this prime for my situation. Sony has managed to knock another one out of the park with this lens.

The best of the best. Did not disappoint. The best of the best. Did not disappoint.
Style: SEL14F18GM
Not much to say about this lens. You know it's amazing. Landscape and real estate photography are my main uses for this. I haven't done astro with it yet but from what I understand it's perfect for that. Sharp as a tack. Focuses fast. Silent. One of my favorite lenses.

Best lens I’ve ever owned.
Style: SEL14F18GM
Sharpest, widest lens in my Arsenal with a fast 1.8 is hard to find especially at this weight. Very light and this lens does a extremely good job minimizing distortions. It’s incredible. Im usually hesitant with lens that cost close to 2 grand but with this lens I did not disappoint or regret.

Successful for moon eclipse Successful for moon eclipse
Style: SEL14F18GM
The performance of this lens is excellent! The wide angle is just enough to have the entire moon eclipse recorded. Edge part might be distorted but that can be fixed through photoshop (also, distortion for such a wide angle is very normal). I'm satisfied with the graph quality

The impossible Milky Way astrophotography lens The impossible Milky Way astrophotography lens
Style: SEL14F18GM
For a milky way photography enthusiast, this lens achieves the holy trinity of fast (f1.8), sharp, and light (460 grams or 1 pound). The last quality is important for me since I often go to remote places for my milky way photos (the attached shot was in Great Basin National Park at ~11000 ft. which took 4 miles of hiking to get to). My other wide angle lens is the Sony-Zeiss 16-35 F4, this F1.8 is noticeably lighter than that lens!! There are many online reviews about this lens, and all I can say is: the hype is real. We have not seen anything like it up to this point (Sigma 14mm f1.8 is a traditional DSLR design and is big and bulky). It can also produce pretty good sunstars, which is important for a lens this wide. Two really really minor issues: first, it is so sharp that in certain cases it gives the "overly sharpened in photoshop" look. This is more obvious if there are leaves and grass in the photo. Second, the micro-contrast is not as good as the Zeiss in my opinion.

Very wide-angle lens for Sony full frame
Style: SEL14F18GM
I wanted to get a wider angle lens for my Sony A7 IV My standard lens goes out to 24 mm and I have an 18 mm but for indoor work I wanted something even wider. The difference between 14 mm and 18 mm is considerable and this is a better lens anyway. For real estate photography or any other interior work. This is really useful. The fast aperture means that the dimly lit interiors are still usable. The lack of distortion is much appreciated. I also use this for landscape panorama work.
