Intelligent Auto (iAuto) mode Unlike traditional auto mode, Intelligent Auto (iAuto) mode thinks for you, recognizing scenes, lighting conditions, and faces, and adjusts settings resulting in clearer images, faces with more natural skin tone, and less blur. By incorporating advanced features such as Intelligent Scene Recognition, Face Detection technology, and SteadyShot image stabilization, iAuto mode lets you take advantage of the latest Sony Cyber-shot technology without leaving auto mode. Whether you're shooting landscapes, capturing a beautiful flower, or taking pictures at an in-door birthday party or wedding shower, iAuto mode will optimize your camera's settings to help ensure you come away with a great shot. Intelligent Scene Recognition (iSCN) Mode Intelligent Scene Recognition (iSCN) Mode automatically detects nine different types of scenes and, within just 1/30th of a second, selects the appropriate camera settings: Backlight, Backlight Portrait, Twilight, Twilight Portrait, Portrait, Landscape and Macro . iSCN has two modes: Auto and Advanced. In Auto Mode, the camera takes a single shot using the optimal settings. In Advanced Mode, the camera takes a photo with the optimal settings and, if in difficult lighting (low light or back light) immediately takes a second photo with another optimized setting so you can choose which to keep. Steady Shot Image Stabilization SteadyShot image stabilization compensates for camera shake and helps prevent blur by using higher ISO. Face Detection technology Face Detection technology detects up to eight individual faces and adjusts flash, focus, exposure, and white balance to help deliver crisp, properly lit images of family and friends. Motion Detection Motion Detection, along with Face Motion Detection adjusts ISO sensitivity and increases the shutter speed when movement is detected, reducing blur in moving subjects and faces. Smile Shutter technology in action Smile Shutter technology Smile Shutter technology captures a smile the moment it happens. Simply press the Smile Shutter button and the camera does the rest. You can also select adult and child priority and indicate the degree of Smile Detection Sensitivity. Intelligent Scene Recognition can be used together with Smile Shutter mode. This means that beautiful smiles can be captured with settings optimized for the particular scene, even in difficult conditions such as twilight and backlighting. Scene modes The DSC-W330 features 10 convenient scene modes: High Sensitivity, Twilight, Twilight Portrait, Soft Snap, Landscape, Beach, Snow, Underwater, Gourmet, Pet. Intelligent AF Thanks to Intelligent AF technology, capture fleeting moments like a child's adorable expression with the ultra-quick AF which locks focus in as little as 0.3 seconds. Easy Shooting Mode With Easy Shooting Mode, even beginners can take great photos. In Easy Shooting Mode, easy-to-understand basic instructions are displayed on the LCD screen and the camera switches to all automatic settings, removing several function choices and allowing you to focus on just your subject. Since this mode works together with Intelligent Scene Recognition, the camera selects the optimum setting for each scene. In addition the easy mode simplifies preview mode. Function Guide This beginner- friendly optional function helps navigate through the various functions and settings displaying the description of chosen functions or settings on the LCD screen. • Great camera for the price and compact!
Color: Red
I went by the ratings and also word of mouth before buying this camera and I actually bought 2 cameras... one Panasonic Lumix 12 MP and this Sony 14.1 MP. Upon first site, the Panasonic appears to be built better. The buttons were larger and the camera was a little heavier. I thought, for sure, I'd keep the Panasonic. Well, after trying both of them simultaneously the Sony took better pictures. The Sony has a Carl Zeiss lense which is a very good lense. Of course, all cameras have brightness adjustments, etc, but the Sony knew when to let more light in when there was not enough light (great for dim light pics). I'm sure the Panasonic could do the same if you want to keep adjusting the lighting, but I want a camera that is going to take great pics with pointing and shooting and this camera does just that. The reason the imaging takes longer to see clearly on the LCD when you go back to view pics, I would assume, is because it is a 14.1 Mega Pixel (a lot of information) at a great price so it takes a 1/4 sec to focus the pic in clearly! I don't mind it. I'd rather have great pics when transporting them onto a computer, viewing them on the computer or TV or printing them. Also, when you go into a photo editor, the clarity is scary. You can see every little detail. If you want to spend another $30 there's also the Sony W350, which will allow for viewing high def videos on your high def TV, but I viewed a video I took with the W330 and the clarity is still great. ... show more

  • Disappointment with 3rd Sony cyber-shot (this one DSC-W330)
Color: Silver
Worked fine on one X-C ski venture in GSMNP and at Xmas eve at my son's in GA. It then worked fine on several indoor shots in my home. On 12/29 hike in the GSMNP it seemed to work fine for ~6 shots; then I started having problems. These included fact that camera was not communicating with 4-GB card and that camera internal memory was full. (Doubt if I can ever retrieve those 6 shots for their intended use.) Then camera flat out did not work. Procedures rec'd after calling Sony's help-line 12/30 were not valid; was told to send it in. (Because I am making a presentation at Wilderness Wildlife Week in Pigeon Forge TN on 1/10/11; I had planned to add to my hiking in ice and snow pictures, and X-C skiing ones, in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, I am literally screwed. My prior Sony cyber-shot developed a shutter problem after 1-2 yrs of use; although the one prior to that worked and still is, I now would not recommend Sony to anyone. (I liked to open up pictures on my computer with Windows Explorer; loading Sony's PMB software made that so difficult with this Sony purchase of less than one month that I wondered if it related to the DSC W330's dysfunction. ... show more

  • Sony always delivers
Color: Silver
Cant beat it for the price. If this camera is priced at the top of your budget, then I highly recommend it. I like Sony in general and this is a great solid thin small camera with a nice side video display, good zoom and excellent quality. After the first picture came up on the display I was impressed with the clarity. I was able to take a great shot even in dim lighting. The pictures are clear and brightly lit on the display during playback. The menu features are simple to navigate. Switching from camera to video mode is easy with the slider button on the side and there are a lot of other cool features I still need to play with (e.g. smile detection, outdoor, pet, food etc). My only complaint would be that the battery life could last longer when using the video feature or during playback, but it does recharge quickly. When comparing it to other models for the same price on CNET.com overall the W330 received very good ratings and I agree. • Sony DSC-W330 14.1 MP Digital Camera Bought at Amazon
Color: Blue
I purchased this camera for my husband for his birthday. He is not very technologically savvy. So far, he's figured out how to charge the battery, take pictures, insert the memory stick and transfer his pictures to his laptop. The pictures come out very focused and clear. He is so proud of the images he captures! Sony DSC-W330 14.1MP Digital Camera with 4x Wide Angle Zoom with Digital Steady Shot Image Stabilization and 3.0 inch LCD (Silver) I've got a Casio Z9 and we're always comparing photos. This Sony DSC-W330 camera takes much clearer pictures than my Casio. If you're shopping for a user-friendly camera that takes very clear images, this is it! ... show more
