I must say I am grateful that this book contains so much useful information about building shipping container homes that it talked me out of trying to do one! Seriously, as an amateur DIY guy, I thought that the solid starting point of having walls, a floor, and a roof already completed would make it fairly easy to finish it out as a tiny home or camp for some family land that we have. I am glad that this book did not simply talk about how easy and great shipping container home construction is. Instead, author Adam Salner goes into decent details about the cons and challenges of completing a container project. From selecting an appropriate container to meeting local regulations all the way to resale of the home, the process is more involved than I understood. I believe that I will instead start with a very small shipping container and simply make a small storage shed with it for our camp, and then steadily build from there once I gain more practical experience. Thank you, Adam, for saving me from (yet another) project that I start and then become overwhelmed with because I underestimated the scope of the project. I did watch different things on TV and the like regarding homes and remolding and tiny homes. This was interesting and fun to read. This book is actually very informative and very guiding for you. This instructional book is very helpful as an in depth guide and teaching which helps you think about the needed things regarding shipping container homes and all that you need to do to build such homes. It gives you the benefits and some challenges you can face with such homes but very informative. It has all the topics you need to build these types of homes from start to finish. I have been thinking of creating a second home from a shipping container, and I'm sure that you are too! I've worked in construction the majority of my life, primarily residential, as a carpenter. I got this book because I wanted to really understand what went into creating a shipping container home. this book truly has everything that you need. It is over 200 pages that answers all of your burning questions. everything from costs to finding the right container. I thought the author did a phenomenal job in creating a structured approach and revealing all of the pros and cons. They also give the common beginner mistakes, which I see very often in my industry. I particularly enjoyed the section on drainage and Grading because I know how important it is, but don't have much experience in that. like I said this book goes deep into this topic and will give you the whole picture of what you're getting into. ... show more
