I am NOT a professional photographer! This is a great starter kit for someone wanting to get more into photography. The A6400 is just plain awesome. It may not be the camera seasoned pros use, but boy - for someone that is a hobbyist, it will do about anything you want. I'm particularly psyched about the on-bard time lapse, which I have yet to use. The lens is great. Good built quality. Solid. It does NOT give you good wide-angles, so if you need more flexibility look for the kit that gives both this lens and one with a shorter focal length. Is working will for "senior pictures" for my daughter, and so far hasn't shown terrible performance. Fast to focus. Have noticed a bit of vignetting that is easily correctable via software. Overall, love it. The batteries (with charger) and memory card are great. The filters that came were the wrong size; seller was awesome about replacing with the proper size for this lens (this is a 49mm filter lens, not a 40.5mm!) The mic looks to be fantastic, though I haven't used it. Software package (Corel suite) installed without hassle. The rest of the stuff in the kit is of limited value, although the bag is decent. Overall: highly recommend, but be prepared to buy an additional lens (or lenses) and a nice ND filter. ... show more

I love this camera, and you can’t find a better deal on such a complete set! You really get a lot for the money. We use the Sony a6400 for live WebCam streaming. The automatic focus feature keeps you looking crisp and clear during whatever zoom meeting or video recording you’re doing. Also, the rear monitor flips up and faces forward so you can view yourself and see your shot the whole time. No need to worry about if you were in the frame or not. I wish more cameras had these features. Even some of Sony’s more expensive cameras don’t have the useful features of the 6400. The picture and video quality is also fantastic. The lens that they give you is a nice addition, but make sure you have some additional, lower aperture lenses. This camera can turn out some beautiful videos and pictures if you know how to use it, and even if you are an amateur. ... show more

    • An impressive compact camera for advanced hobbyists/freelancers, with notable gimmicks thrown in.
Been using the α6400 for a few months now and I'm loving this camera. Pros: This is prime choice for amateurs. Whether you're getting into photography as a dedicated hobby, or need something compact and versatile. This won't replace a professional model like the "α7 III" or "α7R IV", but still takes excellent pictures for moderate freelance work. Neutral/cons: The display can be flipped up and rotated for selfie viewpoints, and you can record 4K (3840x2160/30p) or 1080x1920/120fps video indefinitely. However, you don't get internal image stabilization and the battery life is pretty poor without a spare Li-Ion on hand. While that selfie display is a neat idea, attaching an external boom mic covers it up unless you opt for a more customized setup. Overall, if recording selfies is important and you're willing to buy compatible lenses that incorporate image stabilization, the α6400 makes sense for budding photographers over the similar α6500. ... show more

    • Streamers and hobbyists need the a6400
Right out of the box this camera is great. The first day owning it I was taking amazing shots on Auto mode. I'd recommended watching a few videos on how to mess with the settings because this camera has menus for days, but every setting is customizable. The flip up screen is crisp and folds up tight with no play in the hinges. I would suggest getting the kit lens for this camera the lens in this kit it more for far away shooting. All the little extras provided in this kit are great too! The Sony tripod/grip in the kit is the best tool in the box! Watch the reviews online this is the best A6000 class camera in the market and cheaper than other high-end 4k cameras out right now. ... show more
