  • LOVE! Great even for beginners like myself! LOVE! Great even for beginners like myself!
I am as amateur as it gets! Never took photos with anything but my camera phone and a sub-par point and shoot. Don't know anything about photography except for the little bit I was reading while waiting for my camera to come in--which came in VERY VERY quick! Mind you, I live in Hawaii and shipping can be a drag! The camera body and both lens looked brand new. Also came with a 32gb memory card, 1 battery, 1 charger, 1shoulder strap, and 1 Song camera bag. Might have been some other accessory included that I missed but regardless, everything you need to operate the camera comes in the bag (no manual but I downloaded one for free online). Back to the camera itself -- AMAZING! I just left it on Intelligent Auto and I am so thrilled with the photos I've been taking! I intend to learn more but taking it one step at a time because I started to feel overwhelmed with all of the information --who knew there were so many things to learn about taking a nice photo?!? For now, I am just experimenting but the camera so far has been a dream. I don't have much to compare it to but if you are a beginner and looking for a camera that is not enormous (not really tiny either but I have small hands and it feels good) and takes AMAZING photos right out of the box then pick one of these bad boys up. I've only had mine since yesterday afternoon...I had planned to wait a little to review but could not hold in my excitement. Adding a few of the photos that I took today (my second day of using the camera in intelligent auto mode only). My younger brother had his prom today so we went outside to snap some pics. The other pics are of my children-just messing around in the house. I tried the various picture styles and one black and white one came out pretty good for someone like me who usually takes AWFUL photos. Professional photographers may cringe at my photos but I think they look GREAT! Everyone else thinks so too...they can't believe that I actually took these shots! ... show more

  • A great camera. A great deal. A great starting point.
For a refurbished product you wouldn't know it. Everything came packaged nicely in a basic brown box. Inside was padding and the Sony case. Inside of that was the body and two lenses each with proper caps on to prevent dust from being an issue. Everything looks brand new. Everything works like brand new. Of course the charger, SD card and other items were all there as advertised. I used the camera for most of the day and took over 1700 shots with no issues and only burning through 70% battery life. The camera does everything an entry level professional camera will do. I am pleased to notice that the battery recharges inside the camera with the usage of a micro usb cable like your cell phone, I have plenty of chargers EVERYWHERE now. With a cell phone you can download an app and easily use it to transfer photos wirelessly or use your phone as a remote shutter release with a view of what you camera is capturing. Both lenses are nice and I shot everything from landscapes to action shots of friends and pets. Indoor and outdoor photography was excellent and the built in assist software does wonders if you are just shooting for fun. I had a group of 7 people amazed at the quality of photos taken in sports mode and other automatic settings while I was just playing around. In shooting full 24 MP pictures in Fine JPG mode I was able to shoot 10-20 photos in burst. Of course you can drop quality and shoot many more or shoot in RAW and shoot less. Point is it has plenty of buffer for me to capture someone pitching a ball, hitting a ball and it flying into outfield. Overall I am more than happy with this camera and more than happy with the quality of a refurbished device. Packaging was very nice and far more than I expected. I used to have a SX35 and D3100 and neither compare to this a6000 at all. ... show more

  • I would first like to say that the camera is absolutely fantastic I would first like to say that the camera is absolutely fantastic
I would first like to say that the camera is absolutely fantastic. I'm a beginner photographer so the only other "high quality" camera I've owned is a Nikon D3300, so anything I say is basically compared to the Nikon. The Sony renders color very well and the 24.3 mp sensor is a pleasure to work with. Its also very refreshing using the 55-210mm lens. I've never really had a chance to work with these focal lengths. The way it compresses the frame creates a unique flavor of nature photographs. The camera's battery life isn't great, which shouldn't be held specifically against it because mirrorless cameras just don't have great battery life. If you want better battery life, get a dslr. On the other hand, you can buy two spare batteries and a charger for around 20 bucks, a steal in my opinion. Thus, battery life, if properly accounted for, should really not be a problem. The size and weight of the camera make it a pleasure to travel with. You can get pretty good noise performance up to about 800 iso. Anything above that you must be careful with (at least according to my preferences). The auto focus and fps combination are pretty amazing as well for a camera of this price as well. The auto focus isn't perfect, but if you try to focus on your subject before they start moving and use the medium fps setting, I've found that most, if not all, frames are in clear focus. Of course, being able to focus on your subject before they start acting isn't always a luxury we are afforded, so in higher stakes scenarios, such as photographing a sports match for a client, I wouldn't recommend this camera. However, if you are photographing your children (as I'd assume most people with this camera would be doing), it should serve your purposes just fine. Both lenses are pretty sharp, but not exceptional. As with most lenses, for the sharpest results, shoot somewhere between f 5.6-11. The image stabilization for these lenses is also quite helpful. The only problems I've really found with this camera so far are the fact that you really cant do an exposure longer than 30 seconds, unless you use bulb mode and keep your finger on the button as long as you want it going (which would be terrible boring and would inevitably add some unnecessary camera shake). I don't know if you can buy a remote and get longer than 30 second exposures, as I haven't bought one yet, but from what i've read I believe you can. I'd say its even wise to do so in order that you can achieve long exposures without adding camera shake. Also, you can take multiple 30 second-ish exposures and blend them all together in post processing to achieve a long exposure effect. Another thing, and this is against the seller not the camera, is that there was a fairly sizeable scratch on my screen that I noticed straight from the box. I'm not going to make a big deal out of this as it doesn't affect the utility of the camera, but it's something that I think shouldn't have been overlooked in the refurbishment of the camera. Overall, great camera, especially for the price. This is a great combo and will serve you well. I would recommend this camera to anyone starting photographer/enthusiast. Great portability, great image quality. Experiment and get used to the camera and it will work beautifully for you. ... show more

  • I expected more, but nice camera for the price.
The camera is good. For the price, you can't go wrong. I wasn't impressed with how it captures sunsets or low light images, but that could be me being unfamiliar with the settings. I has better results using my smartphone. However, for daylight photos, especially zoomed, it takes great photos. Not as fast as I expected, but great quality. ... show more

  • Fantadtic camera!
Fantastic camera! I've owned several DSLR's and point and shoots over the years and this is by far the best camera I've had. Light years above even the larger DSLR's; same features but in a smaller unit. The low-light sensitivity is great; almost no noise at high ISO's and bright, clear pics in very low light without using a flash. The burst shot is incredibly fast, with no loss of quality over the burst. 3 selectable burst rates is a great option (lo, mid, hi). On low you can still pull off a single shot without burst activating. Mid and hi are too fast for single shots. The video quality and stabilization are amazing. Even fully zoomed with the telephoto lens there is almost no camera shake when shooting freehand. Very smooth. The ability to wirelessly transmit photos and videos to your smartphone is fantastic. Works flawlessly. This allows you to offload from your SD card while in the field for more capacity, or backup your files to the cloud for safe keeping. Cons: The battery life has been really great so far, but it takes a long time to recharge. 4-5 hours to go from 0-100%. The menus are nothing special; just as difficult to navigate as any other camera. If any manufacturer could solve the navigation issues plaguing digital cameras, they'd make a fortune. Finally, the small form factor does feel cramped for larger hands. The size reduction outweighs this negative for me, but if you must have the room a DSLR provides, you might have trouble adjusting to the narrow controls. Overall a great camera, and lots of camera for the price. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Perfect for the photography enthusiast or budding professional. Perfect for the photography enthusiast or budding professional.
This camera and the lenses are amazing, even straight out of the box with no photography classes under the belt. I can already take great pictures most of the time, I am so excited to start unleashing the potential of this camera as I learn more! I had no idea this bundle was going to come with a nice camera bag and even a memory card! I have absolutely no regrets about this purchase. The video quality is gorgeous, the photos are awesome, the one gripe I have honestly is the tiny video button. I end up shaking the video at the end while trying to stop filming, and it stinks to have to cut off the end of every video to get rid of the shake, but it's workable. If you can swing purchasing this camera, you'll feel like a pro even if you're just an enthusiast. I honestly purchased this to save money on yearly portraits of my children, which I absolutely want to have. I got a great deal of beautiful professional photos last year which we used for our Christmas cards, and that cost us $80. My extended family hired a professional photographer earlier this year and that cost around $200. A "mini" photoshoot with one child and resulting in 5 prints to keep can easily cost $60 or more, so you can imagine how quickly I will save myself that money just doing my own semi-professional photos of my kids! ... show more

  • Great kit but camera has poor battery life
This kit is being sold at a great price. Everything came looking brand new, it had all the accessories, and the camera and lenses worked great. It came in a Sony camera bag. The camera takes very good photos. I was thrilled to get the A6000 at this price. However, my issue is not with the seller or the fact it is refurbished. I love refurbished electronics for the savings. My issue is with the camera's battery life -- it is really below average. Other photographers on the web have commented on the same thing. It starts draining the minute you turn it on. I tried turning of the Wi-fi, but it didn't help. I considered keeping this kit and buying some extra batteries, but the idea bugged me. I bought this as a light weight alternative to my dslr - if I am carrying around two extra batteries it sort of defeats the purpose. The SD card is also hard to remove. Almost Sony... ... show more

  • Powerful camera for a ridiculously good price. Powerful camera for a ridiculously good price.
This camera is a powerful piece of equipment, well worth the price. It's got all the things you'd look for in a pricier professional rig, but also features plenty of handy features for amateurs (some are gimmicky, but I can see how they would be appealing to some people). The autofocus on this camera really is amazing. This thing catches on fast, and follows almost perfectly. Shooting fast-moving targets is easy thanks to the quick autofocus and 11 frames per second. It can even track faces in crowds, so it knows to follow the face you want and not get distracted. I have had some issues with AF Lock switching mid shot, but it could be something I'm doing because everything else about how this camera focuses on things is mind-blowing. The optical viewfinder is amazing! I can't figure out how we've lived without optical viewfinders before. It allows you to see everything without having to move away from the eyepiece. See you aperture, shutter speed, etc. right in the viewfinder. This makes for quicker adjustments and you actually see what the final image will look like in the eyepiece. The camera is lightweight and compact and is easy to tuck away in hiking bags or laptop bags, making it the perfect travel/nature companion. Yet it's still durable. No cheap plastic here. Durable metal, which also looks stylish. Battery life is impacted a bit by the small body (smaller battery), but if you leave it in airplane mode except when you're actively using the smart features, that helps. The LCD tilts, but it doesn't rotate all around, so for me personally I would rather it not move at all. This refurbished model is fantastic, too. It looks and acts brand new. The seller is fast to respond to any questions, and even tosses in a free Sony camera case, 32GB SD Card and a few other goodies. PROS: -Insanely fast autofocus -Compact and lightweight -Powerful image sensor -PRICE! -Smart features like the ability to use your smartphone as a remote and upload directly to Flickr -Loaded with intelligent features, like a smile detector which helps you capture shots right as someone is smiling CONS: -Bluetooth would be nice. NFC is a bit clunky, and WiFi is sort of complex. Bluetooth would be a nice addition, but I've honestly never seen a good-quality DSLR with bluetooth, so this is more of a wish list -Battery life isn't the best (but batteries are cheap) -Limited range of motion for LCD screen/Can't flip it around all the way ... show more
