Pros of this camera For an r line camera it is quite revolutionary with the 30fps burst rate and sticky autofocus. I primarily shoot birds so this is the obvious upgrade path as my last camera was an a7r iii. The writing from buffer is worlds better than what I used previously. Definitely get a cf express a card, sd cards are way too slow. Cons Readout speed is between 14-20ms, its better than 44ms I had before, but not a1 levels at 4ms. Sony menu is archaic, its still trash even if its menu 2.0, the Qol not as good as other camera makers. Like come on why can’t you scrub footage with your finger. Lastly the pain of being a first adopter, software support is slow. You have to do the dumbest things to use your raw files. Still waiting for darktable to implement arw 6.0. ... show more

For a mid level user that upgraded from A7iV the RVi is superior in every way. The larger 67MP files can take more time to handle in Creators app and LR but it’s not a big deal. The rolling shutter is never noticeable to me but I shoot birds and wildlife. The EVF and screen flipping every which way r huge upgrades. The noise in compressed raw is hard to say more or less cause the A7iV is my only comp. When i go pixel peeping the 67MP gives me more room to zoom in an remain Impressed. I always crop my birdie photos so having more pixels gives me room to Zoom! Write speed isn’t noticeable. And yeah I’ve held the shutter for a few seconds to see when the msg shows up that it’s writing. But when would u ever shoot like this? Birding or any wildlife is short bursts. Otherwise u have a million raws the side thru. IMHO. I think about the A1ii for a couple reasons. Managing smaller files in workflow. Probably a dopey idea as 50 vs 67 is probably not much size savings. BUT the one thing that I think is better on the A1 ii is the AF system. I watch videos that suggests locking in to targets and staying locked on is far better on the A1ii. However some of this could be easily down to my idiot skills. lol. I Still learning this camera and perhaps user factor is an issue. Do ur research. And if u think faster write speed and btr AF locking is crucial and the extra $2.5K don’t matter to u then get A1ii otherwise go for this 67MP superstar and expect improvements with firmware upgrades. Starting this off as a review of the service before i review the camera. Amazon Resale can very well be an amazing way to get something vastly cheaper than the competition while still maintaining the safety of returns and OC. HOWEVER, it is a very very narrow margin of success. I can only attest to the 3 times I've attempted using it and I must say I'm still very disappointed. Paid for the A7RVI received the A7RV and now I'm waiting an extended period to receive compensation. If you're truly looking for a deal, look elsewhere, there are plenty of ways to get 2nd hand goods without having to gamble for quality. On to the camera. The best (high-end) does it all camera I've used to date. YES, it isn't for beginners and is hard to justify for the occasional hobbyist but it doesn't knock the title for this camera. Having played with the A7RV and having owned the A7RV & A7Siii, this camera does everything. For cheaper, you can easily go to the A7V and not have ANY issues doing it all. With this camera though, I get everything I need. Lens versatility? Check. Cropping power? Definitely. Pro features when needed? Always on hand. This camera allows for a real one camera workflow that I can really appreciate regardless of doing client work or casual personal use. If there is a specific market for this camera, it's for the hobbyist with too much cash and professional users that want one camera that does the trick. ... show more
