  • Not high end, but good enough
Size: 75 Style: TV Only
The best description I have for this Sony 75 inch tv is that its a jack of all trades but master of none. Everything is quite good but not amazing. So dont expect OLED or Mini LED quality, theater level sound, etc. But do expect a solution that is better than a 200$ tv. I have always respected sony, becuase as a company it seems like they always have been dedicated at trying to make each part of the experience as best as they can. To my perception, for the TV with the technology I chose (full array LED) that again is the case. The Sound is leagues better than my LG C1 in my office after using Sony's calibration tool utilizing the remotes microphone. There are visible speakers on the back of the TV which work relatively well in my wall mounted solution. Coming from an OLED, I was worried that it would be hard to go back to a more traditional LED setup, but I didnt trust the hisense offerings for mini LED and didnt have the cash to fork over for a 75 inch OLED. I can report the dimming zones while arent perfect, are good enough for general consumption. For gaming, you still get 120hz but only on 2 of the 4 HDMI ports. You dont get VRR with this model, or at least the PS5 wasnt picking it up. I didnt do major response time checks, but it seems passable compared to older LEDs I have used. The PS5 also gets some fun pairing features with the TV, allowing you to use the TV remote on the console with less latency compared to the LG C1, and some other audio features. Chromecast is also just a great TV feature, and sony's choice to have it built in the TV is great to me. I can shoot VLC media over to the TV without a cable, and guests can shoot media over with their subscription accounts without the need to login to the TV. The remote is also basic when controlling the tv with it, and the menus are much less bloated compared to other models I have used. There is a settings button on the remote that lets you get to important settings like brightness without going through sub menus, which i love. My only real con for this TV is that like older dimming zone TVs i have used, sometimes you get some awkardness where the struggle with their contrast and make some images look less unified. In example, subtitles might have the left portion look more brown where the right side more white. Guess I would need mini LED or OLED to escape it without degrading overall image quality. Also the mounting holes are recessed inside the tvs backplate so you may need to hit up a hardware shop for longer screws if you want to mount it on a wall like I did. Overall im happy with this as my living room TV. I can leave more static images on it with less fear of burn in than on the smaller OLED in my office and price on this at the time I purchased it was near perfect. If I encounter any hardware issues I will update this to include them, but overall my experience has been as expected without any problems. ... show more

  • Great value for quite smart tv!
Size: 75 Style: TV Only
This tv was purchased after a lot of research into various brands and even levels of Sony tvs in this category. Firstly, I have used Samsung, LG, Vizio and TCL TVs and in terms of smart features, I really feel like the integration of Google TV is the best choice of the lot. It’s intuitive, has many apps available and just works quite well out of the box. The built in chipset for these features on the Sony is snappy and makes this a great “one remote” tv. The picture is mind blowing for the price, and while the more expensive Sony TVs do have better color depth in my opinion, it’s just not worth double the price. The images from this tv are pretty mind blowing and my particular panel has no vignetting to speak of. The anti reflective coating is good, not as good as the more expensive Sony panels but still plenty good enough for daytime viewing with glare on the screen. Gameplay is great on this tv and the fast refresh rate helps that. This may not be the top gaming tv, but it’s certainly fine for the majority of regular gamers. If you are a paid competitive gamer, then I imagine you will have completely different gear with respect to monitors. Overall this is a great tv for the family room and well worth the price over cheaper brands for its high quality interface and picture. ... show more

  • (Updated Review) Fantastic TV after the price drop
Size: 55 Style: TV Only
The media could not be loaded. [01/20/2023] Update] Sony representative has got back to me about my support ticket, and they decided to exchange the tv with a new set. I will update the review to 4/5 stars for now, and if the replacement set solves the high pitched whine issue I will update review back to 5/5. [01/16/2023 Update] So two months went by with this TV, and it ended up developing an ear piercing high pitch whine from the back of the panel. Everything still works and the picture quality is great, but the noise is really annoying when TV volume is set low. Fortunately I don't have any pets, because the noise would drive them mad. I opened up a support ticket with Sony and provided videos with the sound as best as possible with a phone microphone, but they just keep doing the, "We are reviewing your case, we'll get back to you in 2-3 business days with a solution," run around every 2-3 business days. Hopefully they will resolve this issue, but until then the review will be 2 stars for slow support. [Original Review] I have purchased this TV for two things: One, I needed to upgrade to a 4K TV to watch movies on. And two, a TV to compliment the PS5. It didn't disappoint. One thing to get out there right way is this TV isn't an automatic plug and play 4K VRR for the new consoles. You have to make sure that after plugging the console into HDMI 2.1 supported port, you go into HDMI port settings and do the following: If you connect a video game console that supports 4K 120 Hz video output, set to [Enhanced format (4K120, 8K)]. If you connect a video game console that supports VRR, set to [Enhanced format (VRR)]. If you don't configure it, then the console will not utilize VRR or HDR. That is the only thing that took a few minutes to read up and setup, the rest of the TV operation is very smooth. The dark levels are very deep, and the panel has plenty of brightness. In fact, the screen is so bright, I had to turn it down from it's default values, so the HDR range is very good. 4K movies look fantastic, especially when watching UHD Blu Rays. The cons, there aren't many, but here we go: only 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, and if you are using external audio system you are left with 1 usable 2.1 port for a console. They should've made ARC/eARC on port 1 or 2, instead of 3. Maybe eARC requires HMDI 2,1 spec, I don't know, but it is a drawback that you are left with one open 2.1 port for a console when there are two consoles on the market that support it. Another would be that it uses Google Android based OS, so you have to configure all the privacy settings to limit activity tracking the OS does. Unfortunately, activity tracking, is the belly of the beast these days when it comes to Smart TVs, regardless of OS used or manufacturer. Overall, a fantastic TV set for the money now that Sony dropped the price. OLED would be of course better, but if you are looking to save a few hundred dollars and still get fantastic picture quality this TV set is worth it. ... show more
