    • Compact, but powerful! Great addition to my Sonos Five setup.
I paired the Sub Mini with my Sonos Five, which already sounded great on its own and is my favorite Sonos speaker to date. It added a satisfying depth with the low-end frequencies that feels much more immersive, especially as I have the sub positioned behind me a few feet away on the floor. Adding it was seamless, which was a relief as our setup with the full-size Sub 4 took a couple factory resets to work. For being so compact, it produces a surprising amount of the bass. The drivers are force-canceling, which means they’re working together in tandem to cancel out vibrations that result in muffled sound and buzzing. This delivers a clear, thumping bass that can shakes walls when turned up and with a frequency response down to 25 Hz you feel the music through the whole room rather than the more directional bass coming from a single Sonos Five. Crossover with the Five is done automatically, so unfortunately you apparently need the Sonos Amp to configure it manually. To be honest, I’ve had a love-hate relationship with Sonos as some aspects are incredibly frustrating. Between gifts and my own purchases, we have quite a few Sonos speakers — an Arc Ultra paired with a Sub 4 and a couple Era 100s, some Ones scattered throughout the house, plus the aforementioned Five with a Sub Mini — so while issues aren’t specific to the Sub Mini they feel worth mentioning.

 The required Sonos app is thankfully considerably more stable these days, however no matter what I try there’s a single speaker that absolutely refuses to be renamed and sometimes devices will drop off until they’re power cycled. It’s also a miserable experience with Android as you can’t cast directly and are stuck with their cumbersome app, so I usually grab an Apple device as Airplay works as you’d expect. And sometimes you straight up can’t use anything until you update. If you’re already invested into the Sonos ecosystem though, the Sub Mini is great and it’s much nicer than running wires all over. For rooms like a bedroom office, this is perfect and I recommend it over the full-size subs as its performance is excellent while remaining affordable and doesn’t physically overwhelm your space. ... show more

    • Terrific Upgrade
I've had Sonos speakers for years, and recently added the Sub Mini to augment my Arc soundbar. Don't know why I waited so long. Everything sounds better--fuller, richer, clearer, and more spacious. Just better. Setup was a breeze, including using the app to connect to the soundbar and tune the new speaker to the room. Our media room is about 25' by 17' and the Arc/Sub setup produces plenty of sound. The sub is fairly small and very unobtrusive. Easy to tuck into a corner.     • GOT SONOS SPEAKERS, NEED THIS!
The SOSOS system consists of two ERA 100s and the newly added mini-sub. I did experience some brief difficulty getting the "hidden" code from the unit. Instructions need to be clearer about placement of your smart phone on the top to pick up the signal emitting the code. Cannot be activated without, so this is crucial for set up. Maybe place a removable sticker identifying the location where you need to place your phone and the proper distance. I watched the video 3 times to understand what to do. The sticker would be nice.     • Massive Sound, Small(er) Package
The Sonos Sub Mini produces massive house shaking bass for a deceivingly small package. I use several Sonos speakers throughout my home, including Play:1, beams, Five, and a standard Sub. This Sub Mini is the perfect bass companion to turn any Sonos speaker system into an explosive, rich sound environment. It looks great, and is compact enough to make it portable or tuck away under a small end table. Its solid exterior makes it durable and weighty, with a quality feel you would expect from Sonos. It is also simple to connect and add to your existing system, as well as configure for the right amount of bass you want. Where the Sub Mini really shines is its powerful output and clear, deep notes, at a price point much lower than the relatively expensive regular Sonos Sub. Having owned a larger Sonos Sub for years, its audio output is astounding, but the Sub Mini rivals the bass output of its big brother very closely. At a price roughly 60% of the Sub, the Sub Mini outputs very similar levels of bass (detectable to my ear from different rooms). If you have Sonos speakers and have been considering bumping your audio experience with a subwoofer, I would definitely recommend the Sub Mini.     • Great product - Way hard to install
I recently purchased the “Sub Mini” to complete my home theater system (Arc, surround speakers, and now the Sub Mini). I want to thank Sonos for producing such a great product, however, installing the Sub Mini was a horrible and frustrating experience. This is not what I expected from Sonos. All of the products that I have purchased were easy and seamless to install. That is why I purchased the Sub Mini, thinking that it too would also be easy to install. NOT SO. The problem was the PIN number that was required. The instructions were clear enough. However, the location of the PIN number and the Font Size and coloring made it almost impossible to read. I am 78 years old and even with my glasses on I could not read the number. It is located on the bottom side of the unit, on the side wall of the indentation where the power cord plugs in. Why would they hide it in such an obscure place. On top of that, it is printed in a light grey color on a black background with almost no contrast and a Font Size that is so small that you can't see it. Would you believe I had to ask my neighbor to read the number for me? I just can’t understand the reasoning behind the location and size of the number. Why not just print it on the underside of the box lid or on a card with the power cord. To say the least, I was frustrated and upset that I couldn't install the sub by myself. Add this problem to their very poor rollout of the updated app, and now I am wondering if I should consider buying any more Sonos products. Sonos needs to fix this issue soon, or risk other poor reviews and lost sales to those of us that aren’t 25 years old. Just be aware that if you purchase one of these, you will need 20/20 vision and a very strong flashlight in order to install it. Once you get it installed, the sound is amazing. ... show more

    • Far more impressive than I expected.
I was hesitant to purchase the sub mini because it's a bit on the pricy side and my Beam Gen 2 sounded pretty good on it's own in the Master Bedroom. Being on sale for 20% off, I went for it. So the big question - is this sub woofer really worth the price? Let me answer that question by saying.... WOW. Just WOW. Massive improvement on low frequency delivered VERY clearly - not that muddy bass you hear from some - and a distinct improvement on mids and highs from the Beam since it doesn't have to process the lows. I'm not easily impressed - but I am with this one. Fantastic job Sonos. I'm very happy with it and I highly recommend it. ... show more

This subwoofer doesn’t sound nearly as good as its big brother but for a small space it’s fine. Setup was balky…took 5 or six attempts to integrate it into the Sonos app.

It was so intuitive to setup using the Sonos app that I installed it in minutes. I’ve got a beam gen 2 and they paired very well together with each other.
