  • Beginner guitarist feedback
I am using this with an electrical guitar. I'm an older dude that has only been playing guitar for a couple months - so take this review accordingly. I have no other amp to directly compare this with. I use it in my home office while playing alone. I watched many reviews of various amps and decided on this one for the combination of low cost and feature set. IMHO this is a great practice amp. Probably not suitable for gigging (experienced players may have a better opinion here). Might be ok for jamming with another player if they keep the volume reasonable on their amp. It is plenty loud for solo practice and has decent sound quality. The app to control the amp connects via Bluetooth. The drum machine also connects via Bluetooth but it is a separate connection. You can also use as standard Bluetooth speaker with other sound sources on your smartphone. The 40 preset tones are a great place to start. I tend to use 3-6 of them regularly. Many are a bit much for my taste but fun to experiment with nonetheless. They are easy to access via the dial on the unit or via the app. You can create custom tones via the app but I have not yet tried this. The built in metronome/drum machine is also accessible via the app and works well enough, volume is controlled by your smartphone. You can use the amp without the app and still have access to the 40 saved tones but you cannot control the drum machine without the app. The unit uses a li-ion battery which makes it portable. I have not fully tested the play time. I generally play for a couple hours between charges and I think the state-of-charge goes from full to 50% or maybe higher. One negative is that the unit sometimes makes a hissing noise if it is plugged into AC while playing the guitar. This seems very odd and unfortunate. Therefore I only play with the AC disconnected. I occasionally plug-in some cheap monitor headphones into this amp and listen that way. This works well too. There is a built in tuner that is accessible directly on the unit (don't need to use app for this function). However, it seems a bit off, particularly on the low E and A string. At least compared to the Fender tuner app that I use on my iPhone. I have read at least one other person noting the same. Overall, I think this unit is hard to beat if looking for a practice amp that is portable, flexible, and low cost. ... show more

  • Amazing amp for the cost. Wish I still had it.
I HAD TO RETURN. I had to return this due to a financial situation. If given the chance I would buy this again instantly. Increble tone, great bass response, all around kick ass amp.

  • I like it a lot but it's not perfect
I've had this amp for a few weeks now, and all in all i'm very impressed with the tones of this little thing.. I wasn't expecting much since I have not seen or heard any reviews about it. I thought it would be a basic sounding little practice amp but what you get is so much more! This is basically an effects unit with a small built in speaker. The layout of the amp is simple, literally 3 buttons. 1 for presets, 1 for volume, and a power button.. You can click in the presets button to access the other features, like a tuner, drums for jamming, you can also turn on and off the bluetooth and change other little settings. All the amp sounds and effects are edited through their app, you get a decent amount of amps, effects, and cabs. You can also load in IR's and NAM files but you are limited to 5 IR's and 5 NAM files. Overall i'm pleased with the tones you get out of this, I would probably compare it tonally to like a Spark Mini, except you do get less with the Amp Cube .. Realistically you get less battery life (you only get about 4 hours on a full charge) and it only has 1 speaker the Spark Mini has 2 speakers. This amp would be absolutely a Spark killer if it had a longer battery life, and 2 speakers or at least 1 powerful speaker. The tones on it are very good, but the amp even at full volume isn't that loud, although it can get loud-ish it's not loud loud. I noticed some NAM amps will fart out on this speaker even on low volumes, but it will even happen using headphones so it may be an issue with the NAM files rather than the speaker itself. All in all a good practice amp that could have some improvements but still good nonetheless . I hope they support it and add updates to this amp, as of now, I don't think there are any. Double check prices, I ordered mine direct from Sonicake on the e Bay, and I paid about $70 shipped, vs on here it's $90 plus tax. ... show more

  • You get plenty for the price.
This little amp packs a punch!!! Great features and tons of tone. Get the sonicake app from the app store (I have android) and your in your way. With alittle tinkering you can achieve some great clean/OD and lead tones. After having this a few days it is bassy. I had to bring down bass level on amp setting to 1 or 2 to get the bass out, other than that, it's a great little amp. ... show more

  • Great little practice modeler amp.
This thing is a blast. The effects are pretty cool. My favorite feature is the USB out. It works with Audacity (laptop) and gives me a very basic DAW, but still a lot of fun. I mostly use the clean effect and a few others. It's also capable of capturing Bluetooth and sending that to USB out. Make backing tracks and play lead over them. It's a lot of fun. ... show more

  • Perfect Practice Amp
I absolutely love this little amp. I was really thinking that I was going to end up sending this thing back, but the more I play through it, the more I love this thing. It has all kind of really good really usable presets. I actually bought this thing to take busking with me minus all the cords. With the four to five hour battery it is perfect for playing downtown Laurel, and being able to control your effects with your cell phone is perfect, the app is very easy to use and has all kinds of effects that you can edit. You won’t regret buying this, it cost less than a little positive grid spark amp and sounds just as good or better even, plus you can go online and download amp IR’s. I couldn’t have asked for a better practice amp. ... show more
