Very sturdy bench and easy to put together. Top is more of a gray-black than a black. I use it in the bathroom - great to sit down when putting on shoes. Doesn't take up a lot of space. This is a nice ottoman, but I am torn about it. It is solidly made and easy to assemble. However, It is very heavy, so if you don’t want something heavy, this isn’t the right choice for you. I was afraid the leather texture would look cheap. It does in the pictures. It does not look cheap in person. It’s very nice. That was actually a nice surprise. I am updating this from my original review - the distressed leather texture is GREAT. This is my favorite part. Also, after living with the piece for awhile, I removed the two side bars and it looks MUCH better (much higher end and your feet don’t bang into the bars AND my roomba can go under it, yet the piece is still stable. Now I love the piece and think it was overall a good purchase - notwithstanding the criticisms of my original review below - which still really bother me). Here are the cons (which is why I am torn): 1) the leather around the sides is NOT this same distressed texture as the top (unfortunate because it cheapens the look, but it’s not super obvious - the colors are close), 2) they put the name “songmics” in the leather on the side of the ottoman (cheap! If I had seen this, I would not have ordered! Who wants to see their advertising for the rest of the life of the piece ? !! Ridiculous!), 3) the white tag that people have complained about. Even if you take it off carefully, there will still be a slight unsightly white edge left over on the ottoman side. 4) The cushion and table top is extremely heavy in itself, so it will be a pain to turn this over and also it is then pretty hard to get it back into the correct alignment. So, I will just leave it on the ottoman side most of the time. This will not be the multifunctional item that I thought it would be and that’s disappointing. I will have to get a tray. 5) Somewhat poor construction on the table side. My table is not completely even - In other words, there is more space between the edge of the table and the fabric on one side then on the other. This also makes the item look kind of cheap on that side. I really don’t like the look of the table side, so this definitely won’t be a side that I will be showing to any guests. So, I am somewhat satisfied and somewhat disappointed by this item. If I had known all of these things, I probably would’ve looked elsewhere. If you don’t have any other choice (As I didn’t), then this item is OK. However, it would be a great idea for another company to do a better job at producing this or something like it (or for this company to make changes based upon these reviews ). Also, if a higher end version comes out, I would go for that one instead.

Do not recommend for people with kids. I bought this because I thought it would be a soft alternative to our coffee table with sharp edges that my sons run in to, but instead the flipped off the top because it’s not secure. Also the fabric ripped in a week. Returned, thank you Amazon

The stool/ottoman seems like good quality, and it was easy to put together. Looks great. One issue - oddly, the top does not fasten to the legs! How do you sell an ottoman where the top can easily flip off when you bump it? I was planning on using this in part as an occasional step stool in my office, but it's a little dangerous, being that the only thing holding the top cushion down is gravity.

Stool is very good and meets our needs. Easy to assemble. Is very sturdy, more so than expected. You can flip the cushion over and use the hard surface as a table, doubt we will ever do that, but the option is there.
