  • Great Value. Very Quiet.
Color: White Size: 12000BTU, 115V, 20 SEER2
The unit arrived in two cartons and was well packaged. The instructions, and that includes the video, do not cover all of the steps you will need to do. You will need at least two people to install this. Running the hoses and cables through the wall(s) is the biggest challenge, especially if you do not have a straight shot through an outside wall. The connections need to be really tight, they recommend a tourque wrench, but it went ok with just two open ended wrenches. The unit uses R32 coolant, which most a/c technicians don't use. You can use an R410a adapter connected to the R32 valve on the compressor unit to evacuate the lines. That took a lot of internet research to find out! The first time I evacuated them, it would not hold -28 for more than 15 minutes. If it leaks at all, stop and retighten all four connections. (There is no point in going on if it won't hold a vacuum. Getting a pro to come out and do it will probably cost half as much as the unit. They will probably not have R32 refridgerant, and you should 100% use what the unit was designed for. All refrigerant is NOT the same. It should seal without putting anything on the flanges. There could be a leak inside the blower unit, but that would probably be rare. ) The return line on the blower unit was the hardest one to tighten. We went directly through the wall behind the unit, so the only way to get to that connector was to hold the unit up away from the wall, tighten the connection and hang it up again. The video shows the hoses running out the side and then into the wall. That looked a bit rough to me, so I opted for the more challenging way. See photo. Once the lines are evacuated and hold the vacuum, turn both hex nuts on the valves on the compressor unit to.let the refrigerant into the system. I would not recommend using longer lines than the ones delivered with the unit. There may then not be enough refrigerant for the system to operate. Once running, the unit is very quiet, both inside and outside. The sound of silence. It cools very quickly. It has been running a week without any issues. Notes: 1. It has a standard 15 amp plug, so for now, I just plugged it into an existing outlet. Maybe I will make a separate circuit someday. 2. The unit pulls a lot of water from the air on humid days. Be sure to have a plan for the rather short drain hose. I will be buying more of these and eventually phase out the central a/c. ... show more

  • 12k 115v
Color: White Size: 12000BTU, 115V, 20 SEER2
Absolutely wonderful piece of equipment for the price. Purchased for a house that is approximately 800sf this past spring and it kept the entire house cool all summer. Installed in a front bedroom that has poor insulation and used a fan to distribute to the rest of the house. It's really nice and quiet and doesn't use excessive amounts of power either. The only downside is installation. It's not super hard to do if you choose the DIY route though. The models made to run on 115 volt electric can simply have a normal grounded plug spliced onto the power so it doesn't have to actually be run to your breaker box. The truly bad thing about installation is price of you didn't do it yourself. I fielded estimates from $500 all the way up to $5800. All in all it's a easy 1 hour job for 2 people if they know what they're doing. ... show more

  • Works good so far.. some cons tho
Color: White Size: 12000BTU, 115V, 20 SEER2
UPDATE.... STILL TRIPPING GFCI .. CAN'T GET SUPPORT AS TO WHY... TRIPS WORSE WHEN USING HEAT... CAN'T GET AHOLD OF ANYONE.... UPDATE.. STILL WORKING GOOD.. HAVEN'T USED HEAT YET IN THE COLD WEATHER BUT I'M SURE IT WILL WORK JUST FINE.. DON'T RUN OF OF A GFCI.. TRIPS CIRCUIT INTERMITTENTLY. UPDATE.. STILL WORKING BUT WON'T RUN OFF OF A GFCI FOR SOME REASON.. INTERMITTENTLY TRIPS GFCI. IRRITATING Haven't used it a whole bunch, but it's working good so far... It's R32 tho... And will occasionally trip 15 amp breaker.. so I would suggest having dedicated 20 amp circuit for it .And it comes with 18 awg wire for handler and 16awg for unit supply power... I would run 12 awg for the supply power... Which it what should have been in the box/came with it... Time will tell.. hopefully will last long time. ... show more

  • Super efficient
Color: White Size: 12000BTU, 115V, 20 SEER2
So my central air stopped working 2 years ago , so I been using a 5000btu window unit in my bedroom since. I decided to buy this costo way 12k btu unit . My decision was based on reviews and price and I don't regret it for one minute.. love my AC. Myself and a friend did the install, I had to purchase longer copper lines because of where I wanted to place the condensing unit. As a DIY you have to follow the instructions to the T and everything will work out fine. In conclusion this unit it very quiet you don't even know it's running unless you stand infront of the condensing unit, very efficient and worth the money.. if you replace the lines make sure BOTH your new line are insulated for maximum efficiency. I did not purchase wifi unit. My thermostat is set at auto mode 80% of the time or 76 whlen it's 98F outside. Just remember even if you set your thermostat at 77F because the thermostat is in the Evaporator unit on your wall it's reading at that height. But where you sit will be 74 so don't let the numbers fool you,It will always be cooler. I am very satisfied with this unit and will be buying a 900btu for my bedroom and get rid of the window AC..I definitely recommend this costoway unit. Oh yeah . It's installed in my living room. See photos... NOTE: R32 is not yet a commonly known refrigerant among ac technicians so if you're going to hire a professional and you have to use a longer copper lines than which is provided, you are safe for up to 3ft more anything greater than that would require additional refrigerant. Make sure the installer has access to R32 before you buy the unit if it's a longer run..make sure not to waste any refrigerant and that you have absolutely no leaks... good luck.. it's a very good unit just install correctly. ... show more
