  • Used to have/use another company's product, but Solis is now MY go-to
I have a Glocalme U3 and was satisfied in using that product until the company raised their GB fees through the roof. By that, I mean, they upped the prices around FOUR TIMES what they had been. I called to speak to them about it and they were not even apologetic, let alone giving a reasonable explanation for the price change. So I went on the search for a product/company that would work for my needs and found this Solis Lite. Their GB prices are very good and for me, purchasing a package that never expires is what I was looking for. The little "orange puck" that you receive is easy to see, that's for sure! The set up required downloading their app and then setting up the Solis Lite online through the app. I did have a bit of trouble with the set up, but the live chat CSR fixed the issue for me and the rest of the setup went smoothly. I will say that I did try calling them first and both times after being connected, I was hung up on. The live chat worked fine so I'm okay with that. Now, once I had the little orange puck activated through their website, I purchased a package and was awarded points for the next time I purchase a package. The mobile wifi worked GREAT with this Solis Lite and I'm happy - no more outrageous prices as with the other company and I have my wifi for emergencies, such as when there is a power outage. I have power stations so I can keep my laptop and cellphone charged up during a power outage and with this Solis Lite, I can still get online as well. Very pleased and happy to have my little orange puck! ... show more

  • Ability to connect overseas to the internet.
Product was easy to use and worked very well both in the US on the US data plan and overseas on the Global data plan. I wanted to test the product before an.extended trip overseas and am very satisfied with the ease of use and internet speed. I a very happy with the product.

  • A must have for travelers
Or for those who live in a hurricane zone. Went without WiFi for over two weeks, so this hot spot was a lifesaver—and super for traveling!

  • SkyRoam SOLIS 1 is DONE
If you read a review that says, "Had my Solis for a while, worked some places, now it does not" or "Gets stuck at the point: Starting Service, and never connects" Then it may be a Solis 1 (older model) they are reviewing. What the reviewers are saying is correct for the Solis 1 original. When The carriers shut down the 3G services in February of 2022 (+/_ 6 months depending on location) the original Solis 1 quit working. It is capable of using a 4G signal, but it requires a 3G connection first to negotiate the signal connection. My Nokia phone stopped working for exactly the same reason. The newer Solis Lite, and Solis X do not have this issue and work with current carrier technology using a 4G LTE connection. Can the Solis use 5G? I do not believe it can. Data prices are not too bad, and pay-as-you-go data does not expire. My Solis X works at my remote cabin where the signal strength is poor (1-bar). ... show more

  • I'm giving up...
In summary, it rarely works and when it does work it doesn't work very well. I got the skyroam solis several years ago. I was travel overseas and I wanted to have internet access. So while touring some vineyards in tuscany, I tried activating my solis on a bus. It doesn't work unless the unit is stationary. I brought it home and kept it in a box with my emergency supplies. During a couple of blackouts, I activated it. It worked. Last week, my internet was down. So I activated it again. It didn't work. Today, I'm testing it. It still doesn't work. 25 minutes after I started my daypass, the unit is still "starting service'. I'm giving upon on this. I'm pretty sure if I spent or waited a little long it would start working, but I just don't have the time. A backup is only useful if it is reliable. Recall the fugitive. Tommy Lee Jones lost his gun. Harrison Ford picked it up, threw it away and ran. Jones had a backup which he pulled out and resumed pursuit of an escaped prisoner. That's how a back-up should work. Imagine having a meeting in 30 minutes and your internet connection goes down. You a solis skyroam. You boot it up. You have no confidence that it will work within 30 minutes or whether it will work at all. That was my situation. ... show more
