1st one didn’t work. Amazon replaced it with another. Works pretty well. I gave used it a few times and the feeded solder dose make life a bit easier . Found holding the gun inverted helps flow the solder to the wire !

I needed a new iron because my two ye old fashion Radio Shack irons just weren't up to snuff. I was rebuilding (done!) a battery pack for a cordless Dremel Tool, and I just couldn't get solder to flow on the battery terminals. This new iron delivered enough heat to get the job done without even warming up the battery. Bing bang boom. Someone recommended 370°C for this task, and that's what I set the iron to. Used one of the blunt tips and it flowed like a champ. I definitely recommend getting a can of tip tinner as well as some 60/40 solder. Though the iron comes with a sample of some 60/40, it's not very much. Some rosin flux is also nice to have. ... show more

Is close to being a very good product. Found it was assembled with wires crushed between the two halves, and the solder sometimes melts in the tube. They were so close. For the price though, not a bad product. I may buy again. Would have gave a 3.5 star, but I guess 4 is acceptable.
