  • My Go-To Soldering Iron
Set name: Butane Solderin Iron Kit
This has been my go-to field soldering iron for the past 5 years. It's reliable, heats up quickly, and has handled countless low-voltage and electronics repairs without any issues. The included case keeps everything organized, the build quality is excellent, and it feels comfortable in hand during extended use. The adjustable flame and multiple tips make it versatile for a variety of jobs. A quality kit that's well worth the money, and I'd definitely buy it again. ... show more

  • Update: Great customer service!
Set name: Butane Solderin Iron Kit
I increased my rating to five stars from one cuz of great customer service. After I emailed the manufacturer explaining my problem, they got back to me the next day. After answering a few questions and sending a photo of the serial number, they sent a whole new unit to me and a prepaid label to return the old one. The new one works as it's supposed to, so I upped my rating to five stars. The LX-770 is a really nice torch and soldering iron for a great price. It heats up quickly and burns for a long time on a charge. The kit includes a number of useful soldering and other tips too. One thing you should know that isn't on this Amazon page: the company says only 3X-refined and higher butane should be used, not just "premium" or "high quality" gas. (You can find up to 14X butane out there; I never knew there were different kinds.) But the impurities in regular butane will cause it to not work well and will damage the torch, the company warns, so buy the 3X or higher stuff. It's a bit more expensive, but not much. My original review: This torch had so many good reviews, I really expected to love it. And I did, for the first two days. I planned to use it mostly as a soldering iron, and for two small projects I tried it on, it was great. But then today I was using it to solder some resistors and wires to LEDs. And when I was using it, or when I set it down, it just would stay lit for a short time, and then go out. I could still hear the gas flowing, but there was no flame and it got cold. It would relight, but then the same thing. This happened over and over again, so it was not a fluke. I tried pushing the lock button as far as possible. But the only way I could use it was to keep and hold the safety lever down with my thumb. Which I am not going to do long term. (I am using high-quality 5X butane.) My only choice is to return it. Although I like the design, I am reluctant to buy another Lexivon because of this experience and will probably try another brand. So disappointing! ... show more

  • Worth the Purchase!
Set name: Butane Solderin Iron Kit
I RARELY ever write a review in the 2+ decades I’ve had an Amazon account. But, this soldering iron multi-purpose kit earns a review! It’s so cool!!! It works very well, and heats up quickly, and the locking-switch feature is a must-have for soldering and what not. It’s easy to refill, has a great fuel capacity, has a great flame strength, and installing the different tips and accessories is a breeze! I’d highly recommend this item! ... show more

  • **UPDATED FROM ORIGINAL POST**
Set name: Butane Solderin Iron Kit
Originally I gave this a 1 star rating. The company reached out to me and has been trying hard to make sure that my problems have been corrected. I have since received a new replacement from them and while it IS better, it isn't 100%, HOWEVER I have also been trying to work with them to demonstrate the problems I had and how to make this a better product. Out of the goodness of my own heart I have been willing to work with them (this is not a paid sponsor and am not being compensated in any way), showing them a video to display where I think the weaknesses are. The new replacement is MUCH better than the last one and I don't feel like it will blow up in my face. I think this has the potential to be a better product than what it is now, and it does work they way it is advertised. I am happy with this unit and will keep it and have been using it without fear. I still think the safety is a bit cumbersome, but I guess you could say that it makes it even a little bit more safer in the long run. For the money it is seems like a good deal and have had no problems with the replacement. If your looking for a reasonably priced soldering torch this seems like a good place to start. I think it makes a better portable soldering iron than a torch but it does work well enough for most projects. The only reason it has a 4 star rating is the fill tube. It still is difficult to fill and will waste more butane that I would like, but, again, I am working with the company to figure out the solution to this so maybe by the time someone else gets this it might be a fixed issue. They seem to be generally interested in knowing how to make this a better product so that is a start and at least shows that the company is concerned enough to fix the issue. I have seen worse products for the same or more money. If this lasts as long as my old torch then I will be very happy. ... show more

  • Great product, Exceptional Customer Service!
Set name: Butane Solderin Iron Kit
I purchased the LX-770 soldering iron kit back in Sept of last year. I'm a mobile electronics installer/technician. I used the torch for heating windshield glass and to solder wire joints multiple times a day, 5-6 days a week. I really used this thing. I only used higher refined butane for refilling, since that really is the industry standard for any butane powered products now. I never had any issues out of the product, in fact I would go on and on about it with coworkers. A couple of weeks ago, I refilled the torch, and for the first time, the ignitor didn't ignite the fuel on the first try. I was surprised to say the least. Days later it would not ignite at all. So I reached out to the customer service dept at Lexivon through the Amazon app, since I purchased it on here. The employee wasted no time in getting my issue resolved, she asked questions relevant to the issue, and for the obvious information regarding the serial number etc. In a few days time, I received a brand new kit. Good luck getting service like this with any competitor. I bet you won't. This company is so confident in their product they give you, yes, give you an extended warranty to 2 years, once you register the product. I was willing to just shell out the money and purchase another kit outright, based on it's performance in the field. No question this is the one, field tested and used to the max and I won't hesitate to purchase one again. ... show more

  • My husband has gotten a lot of use out of this
Set name: Butane Solderin Iron Kit
I actually bought this for my husband, and it's become one of those tools he reaches for all the time. He likes that it's cordless, heats up quickly, and comes with everything needed for different projects. It's been great for motorcycle wiring and other small repairs around the garage. He's been really happy with the quality, and I'd definitely buy it again if it ever needed replacing. ... show more

  • Requires 3x purified Butane
Set name: Butane Solderin Iron Kit
I always read 1-star reviews for patterns. There was an in-depth review from 2023 that you should take the time to read. There was a mention of a product upgrade, but I don't know if it was before or after that review. Just because the product under performed for that application, I disagree with the purchase recommendation offered. I've found two uses for this product, so far. One was for cutting landscape fabric. Could be a faster way, but it did seal the edge. The second was to weld a plastic part that I had to cut open. In most cases, I doubt you'd exceed the time limit for the fuel load. If you need that much concentrated heat for an hour, you might look at a different method. The instructions were vague, but I got the hang of it. Even after reading the instructions, I had no clue how to add fuel correctly. Still not sure. I am frustrated by the lack of upfront information. I ordered a name brand butane fuel at the same time, only to discover it did not meet the product requirements. The purified fuel is expensive. Guessing, but I think complaints about heat output could be from using cheap fuel. I have no clue what the other 5% is in the 95% pure fuel. Does it contaminate solder? Is it corrosive? Is it harmful to my health? Will it cause problems as the manufacturer claims? While my views are subject to change over time, I found the tool to be well engineered. It's handy for outside use where electricity isn't close by, or the project is of short duration. The 2 year warranty should satisfy most buyers. Of course, there was no mention of it in the negative reviews. At the time of my review, there were 12,177 already posted. You can't ask for a much better indication of quality. Update: In 1984, a friend said to buy a computer. He said that after I bought it, I'd wonder how I ever got along without it. I have a few newer tools like that. Like those, this torch seems to be there when I need a solution. Today, I had a nylon insert broken off in a tight location on an engine. I was able to use the soldering attachment, with the torch, to melt a hole in the insert. After inserting a wood screw, I was able to extract the insert. ... show more

  • Works really well
Set name: Butane Solderin Iron Kit
Bought this in November. I've only used this a few times, but the few times I've used it I have no complaints. Soldered several LED strips for "Light Boxes" as well as using it to poke holes into fabrics to push assorted plugs through and had no trouble. Did use it once to solder a shunt resistor, also used it once to heat up several shrink tubing, did the job okay. For me I had no trouble using it with out looking at a manual. Several co-workers could not figure out how to turn it on, so much so that they thought they needed to fill the butane tank when it was already filled by me. They even looked at the manual that came with it. They were trying to use it to burn wholes in fabrics for a show. You go figure since they had been in the business using different types of soldering irons. The tank hasn't leaked yet so that's good. It is safe to use since unless you use like any other soldering iron, with proper safety protocols. Easy to fill as with most refillable Butane tanks, light and easy to change heads, just unscrew and screw. ... show more
