I increased my rating to five stars from one cuz of great customer service. After I emailed the manufacturer explaining my problem, they got back to me the next day. After answering a few questions and sending a photo of the serial number, they sent a whole new unit to me and a prepaid label to return the old one. The new one works as it's supposed to, so I upped my rating to five stars. The LX-770 is a really nice torch and soldering iron for a great price. It heats up quickly and burns for a long time on a charge. The kit includes a number of useful soldering and other tips too. One thing you should know that isn't on this Amazon page: the company says only 3X-refined and higher butane should be used, not just "premium" or "high quality" gas. (You can find up to 14X butane out there; I never knew there were different kinds.) But the impurities in regular butane will cause it to not work well and will damage the torch, the company warns, so buy the 3X or higher stuff. It's a bit more expensive, but not much. My original review: This torch had so many good reviews, I really expected to love it. And I did, for the first two days. I planned to use it mostly as a soldering iron, and for two small projects I tried it on, it was great. But then today I was using it to solder some resistors and wires to LEDs. And when I was using it, or when I set it down, it just would stay lit for a short time, and then go out. I could still hear the gas flowing, but there was no flame and it got cold. It would relight, but then the same thing. This happened over and over again, so it was not a fluke. I tried pushing the lock button as far as possible. But the only way I could use it was to keep and hold the safety lever down with my thumb. Which I am not going to do long term. (I am using high-quality 5X butane.) My only choice is to return it. Although I like the design, I am reluctant to buy another Lexivon because of this experience and will probably try another brand. So disappointing!

Lexivon makes a good product regardless. Used this torch the other day to solder some wires together for a stereo. Heated up and easy to handle while using. Tips are easy to exchange quickly

Move over Snap-on tools, Lexivon has it right! The price of this kit gives me the freedom to buy more of their quality tools without waiting months to purchase another tool guilt free. Finally, I can buy the tools I need one after the other without breaking the bank. The soldering kit is in a well-built case that's perfectly shadow boxed for the torch and accessories. The instructions are clear and straightforward - no confusion, just smiles! They even offer an extended 2-year warranty with registration, which was super easy to do. After I registered my soldering kit, I checked out their website briefly. I was really impressed by how user-friendly it was. Whether you're looking through their products or trying to find your product's user manual, everything's right there and easy to find. I could tell right away after opening my shipping box that this company values their customers and wants to give them the best experience possible. Owning a business myself, I know that there is a lot of time and effort that goes into creating a website that's user friendly and I can only imagine the same goes with developing a product that hits all the marks your customers are hoping for. Lexivon nailed it! I honestly can't express how impressed I am by this product, especially considering the price I paid for it. Great product. Have used this item in multiple scenarios from automotive to home and has performed flawlessly. The other nice thing about this iron is it works outside even when wind is present, not hurricane levels mind you . This I found with other irons was a down side in outdoor work.

I fly RC electric airplanes at remote locations and wires and connectors do need soldering from time to time as well as shrinking shrink tubing on the wires and connectors. This soldering iron for the price and features is now in my field toolkit after doing a few test solder repairs. I can’t comment on how well it’ll hold up over time but so far, it’s easy to start, use, and refill. I found the price acceptable for my needs.
