I was excited for this item and after getting so many connections made, clamps tightened, and retightened, the unit leaked under the clear cover. I contacted the seller through Amazon and they responded right away and sent a new unit. Once that was hooked up no leaks and it works great! I have a large above ground pool and this heater has raised the temperature slowly. I run it only when the sun is shining on the heater ( I suspect many reviewers run it at night and this will cool the water!). Last year my pool could barely get above 70 degrees this time of year and it is 78 right now. I expect it will continue to rise slowly as we have sunny days, and I keep a solar cover on my pool at night to retain the heat. Many reviews show that people have very unrealistic expectations of this device. It will not allow you to swim in December but it is an incredibly cost effective way to get small increase in pool temperature over time which is exactly what I needed to get a more comfortable swimming temperature. I am very pleased with the product and with the company.

This product leaks terribly. We had to go to the store to get adapters to even have the solar dome fit our pool. Both those things I could deal with if it worked….it does not work. In full sun!!! It doesn’t work. Please don’t waste your money. It is very disappointing. I wish we could find a budget friendly way to heat our pool in WI. For reference I have a 18ft x 48in pool. It took us hours to install. Hours to troubleshoot. Ultimately, we are going to pack it up and return it. This thing is a cheap piece of garbage. It is not worth $90.

Excellent heater comes w/all attachments to run two or more. These heaters are larger than those in most pool supply catalogs and at least 1/2 the price. Hooked two up to my 18x33 oval pool and they have maintained 80 or above temp in the unpredictable Michigan weather. Very happy with this purchase, especially the quality for price.

What a disappointment. We thought we had it all connected and tightened but there were multiple leaks from every black tube connection. We spent hours working on it just to pack it up and send it back.

Pretty easy set up. I think that the built in half and half design ( half the water goes through the heater and half goes through the bypass hose) is very important because I have a bigger sand filter pump attached. I haven’t had any issues with leaks. My husband is on blood thinners; so it doesn’t warm the water to his liking- the reason I gave it 4 stars.

Every connection that uses the cheap plastic hoses and fittings provided leaks. There are two reasons - very thin, cheap hoses, and the wrong type of clamp for a watertight connection. The plastic is so thin that the clamp can't compress it to securely connect to the fitting. The clamps are screw clamps, with a flat spot where the screw fitting is (see attached picture, along with a picture of a real pool clamp with no flat spot), so there is no way to form a watertight seal on a round fitting. The fittings are slightly smaller than standard pool fittings, so I had to use a different fitting for the existing pool hose where it connects to the 'T'. As another reviewer mentioned, the legs bread easily - there was broken plastic in the box from the leg attachment point. It was going to be returned, but I wanted to test to see if it actually heats so I could decide if I wanted a better version of this. It does.....so it gets 2 stars instead of one. I didn't connect the provided return 'T' (since it will leak anyway), so filled a 5 gallon bucket with water coming out of the heater and checked the temperature. The water temperature coming into the heater was 69 degrees, and the output was just under 70 degrees. It took 15 seconds to fill the 5 gallon bucket, so it heats 20 gallons of water approximately 3/4 of a degree per minute. In about 5 hours it will heat up the entire 12x24 oval pool by about 3/4 of a degree. The test was run memorial day weekend when we opened the pool, so it should heat even better when with hot summer sun. Keeping it, and using silicone on every fitting to seal up the leaks, but not happy I have to fix it when it is new.

The compact design will suit my needs better than the long flat type. I'm heating water for hydronic heating of a small greenhouse. I had to make a trip to a local plumbing shop to get some fittings to adapt to the PEX tubing I'm using. Heat collection with this design is a compromise due to the angular cover. A tradeoff for space saving that's acceptable.
