I brought this over to a friend’s house with an in ground pool to try it out, and it turned out to be a lot of fun. One thing I was concerned about before using it was whether it would float too close to the edge and spray water out of the pool. It actually comes with tethering strings so you can anchor it in place if you want to keep it centered. That was a nice feature and worked well. The solar power is strong in direct sunlight and the fountain produced a good spray. It starts up quickly once it is in the sun and runs consistently without needing anything else. It adds a really nice effect to the pool. It is relaxing to sit back and watch while also hearing the water. It gives the pool a more finished and enjoyable feel. I plan on using it in my pond next, which should work just as well. Overall this is a simple and fun solar fountain that is easy to use and adds a nice visual and relaxing touch to any pool or water feature.

The first thing I noticed is that this is a completely self-contained unit. Since it runs entirely on solar, there’s no messing with batteries or charging cables. It just sits there soaking up the sun, and as long as it gets direct light, the fountain starts doing its thing. It’s a nice, low-maintenance way to get some movement in the water without having to remember to plug anything in. The fountain spray itself is a pleasant addition to the pool. It isn't a massive geyser, but it provides enough of a water column to create those relaxing ripples on the surface. When the sun goes down, the light effects kick in. The colors reflecting through the water spray actually look pretty cool in the dark, turning a plain patch of water into a bit of a light show. One practical plus is that it comes with replacement water filters, which should help if your pool gets the occasional debris. However, getting it to stay put is the only real headache. It includes a weight and string to tether it in one spot, but trying to thread that string through the tiny hole on the unit is a legitimate test of patience. I’m curious to see how the solar cells and the pump handle a full season of sun and chlorine. If it can power through one full summer without the lights or the motor quitting, I’ll be happy with it. This is a good fit for any pool or pond owner who wants an easy, cord-free water feature.

I really like the idea of this little fountain and it was a big hit at our party yesterday. It floats around and looks really cute. It is a little hard to see though, it sort of blends in to the background and at times it just disappears into the pool. Also we had some clouds covering the sun, and as soon as the sun goes behind a cloud it stops working. I guess I thought it would hold a charge pretty much all day like a solar light would work, but this one has to have the sun on it to work, it doesn't seem to hold the power. But it is cute and interesting and fun!! Can be interesting if someone is floating in the pool and the cloud goes away and it comes on right next to the floater!! Haha, but always fun.

Amazon invited me to review this. Modern electronics and LEDs suddenly make light shows and fountains a possibility. Some fountains have rechargeable batteries. This one has a solar panel. Some are controlled by remotes. This one has a manual switch on the bottom. I got the gray for all-day use, which runs during the day and then at night until the charge runs out. It sequences through 6 available light modes. I suppose different people have different ideas about "large." I would say the fountain spray holes are tiny for minimal water flow, its 8.5"/215mm diameter is small (3.5"/85mm deep), and if this is the large one, the regular ones must be especially tiny. The spray height is listed as up to 2-3'/60-90cm. Actual experience may be less. It did come with a sponge intake filter installed along with four spares and a coil of nylon cord along with a weight to attach to it. This should be a fun toy, but not necessarily a lasting pleasure. Assembly is not required, its functionality is basic, and colored lights and splashing water definitely add a touch of beauty to a water feature. Since no additional wiring or control is needed, it's an easy addition to try out. The winds here in Colorado will definitely help distribute the spraying water and it might even provide some evaporative coolness in our semi-arid climate zone.
