They had 3 lighting modes you could use, an always on but dim mode, an always on dim until motion activated bright mode, and a motion only bright mode. I set the ones that don’t get as much sun to only turn on when motion is Detected and I set the ones that get good sun to always stay on and get brighter with motion.And she has said that they are amazing and they light the way perfectly and she can see so much better. We were having an issue with a skunk! I was told that they do not like spurts of light. They can adjust to light if it is consistent. I bought these hoping they would come on at the right time to scare it away. These met my expectations and more! The money was well worth the quality of the lights. The lights are bright and they come really easy to install. I have them attached around my yard to the fence and placed on my back garage. This is my second purchase of these lights. I got them as a Christmas gift for my elderly parents to add some light to their main entry way/walkway. The white matches their fence around the porch/deck, which is a nice plus. While these won't last completely overnight, even on the low setting, they will last for several hours, depending on the weather, of course. For the ones I have in my dog run area, I have 2 that I keep on the low setting all the time, and 2 on motion detection. When the dog wants out at 3am, the two on "constant" run are out by then, but the motion ones have always worked through the night as needed. The reason we keep two on the low setting is that they provide just enough light when we are out on the deck in the evening hours without being too bright. A couple of my neighbors bought these as well after seeing mine. While I am sure they won't last forever, mine have been in use for 2 years now and going strong. I live in north-central Pennsylvania, so they have seen temps from -5 to over 100 degrees (f), as well as wind, rain, snow and ice. So far, so good! I would recommend and will buy again when the time comes they need replaced. Good deal for the money ... show more

They are small but they put out a decent amount of light for a small area. I use them to light the way out to the horse paddocks. They are mounted on the fence posts along the way. The higher up you mount them the more useful they are. I also have a 5 foot raised deck in the back just a few feet from the property line. I put a couple along the outside so I could walk around it at night. A solid section of oak trees between the properties keeps the back side dark. My favorite part is they use an 18650 battery. Think Dewalt 20v, Milwaukee 18v etc. So they are easy for me to replace if needed. ... show more

I bought these to use on the front of the house as motion sensors. The photos made them look larger than they really are. I got the box in the mail and couldn't believe the size of the box for 4 of them LOL. I was expecting these to be 8-10" going off the photos, but in all actuality, they are just barely larger than the size of a credit card. I switched up where I was going to put them, as those would look comical on the front of the house. Once I figured out a new place to use them, they work and look great. Just be warned to actually read the description dimensions, I didn't and I was fooled. I ended up using these on my backyard fence, spaced about 10' apart, so I know if there are any critters in the yard before letting the dogs out at night. The lights have multiple settings and 3 of the 4 last all night long on the setting I'm using. The one closest to the house is triggered every time the dogs go in or out, so it dies a bit quicker than the others as it is activated quite a bit more. Overall these are great LITTLE backyard lights, not front of house motion lights. ;) ... show more
