These lights were ready to go, right out of the box. I removed the protective plastic covering off of the lens and off of the top.Solar collector and I also pressed the on off button underneath it to the on position. There was a charge already. I put the lights and the stick holder together and put them in the ground to shine up on the pillars in front of our house. There was enough charge right out of the box to last a couple hours.And the next day, they charged even on a slightly cloudy day, and as far as I can tell, the lights were bright.At least six hours in the dark. And they are the best and strongest Solar powered lights of this kind that we've ever owned. The previous ones we bought lasted 3-5 years in the outdoor weather, Twelve months out of the year outside in the sun and heat and cold weather. I highly recommend these quality solar lights.Because they're worth the slightly more money than other brands.Because they are more sturdy.The plastic is rigid and doesn't seem to bend or break under the influence of the weather and sun. I ordered the warm light instead of the bright white light and I think it's A nice, cozy, warm color and still bright.And I also like to use them to shine on landscaping in the yard. And when we lose power from a power outage, we grab a solar light from the yard and bring it into the house and get instant light. I like these very much but they are very bright. They appear to be sturdy since I will probably use them different places and adjusting the heads often. I've made them effective in my walkway by putting them in flower pots already there and uplighting the wall. Very nice effect.

These lights are VERY bright considering they aren't very big and I've noticed they stay on from sundown to sun up and illuminate the entry to my driveway very well. I liked them so much I ordered a second set for use in my back yard. YMMV but I HIGHLY RECOMMEND these and the price is better than anything I've tried from the likes of Harbor Freight. They are bright when charged, but that is the problem. You have to orient the fixed solar panel to get enough light to make it more than a few hours. Fine if your light needs are okay to point to the northerly direction. It would be much more improved with a movable solar panel like some of my others. I should have looked closer at the picture. Update- the company quickly offered and gave a refund, great customer support. The lights work really well if they get a full day of sun, but as we stated they must have a orientation that the fixed solar panel can get full sun, we do not have that option due to buildings and trees. Those that do not last about two hours at night, those that do last most of the night. ... show more
