  • Excellent - very easily modified/upgraded. Added a second 18650 battery and properly sealed
Size: 2
VERY easy to modify/upgrade this light to a light that's much better, that will: 1) Better stand up against the rain/weather and 2) Have TWICE the battery capacity and stay lit longer. Once the battery is added and the circuit board has been spray coated with conformal coating (just search on Amazon), simply use ample amounts of silicone sealant the entire way around the case edges and reassemble. NOW it won't leak. My criteria was: 1. It had to be inexpensive. 2. It had to have a decent light output. 3. It had to have a remote solar panel, so it could be mounted separate from the light itself, to allow the panel to be mounted on my shed roof. 4. It had to use an 18650 battery - very easy to buy inexpensive high-capacity extra battery. 5. It had to be easily opened to access the battery and circuit board (screwed together NOT glued). 6. It had to have room inside the case for the extra battery. This light satisfied all the above. EXCELLENT inexpensive and versatile little light that puts out a very respectable amount of light. Very nicely illuminates the 15' x 15' area in front of my shed. I mounted one light outside and the second light on the ceiling inside. It has absolutely no O-ring or seal of any kind between the case halves...so you'll really need to at least take it apart and seal it properly!!! That's part of why it's cheap. Enjoy! ... show more

  • works great
Size: 2
I have a few of these and they work well. I've rewired one set to have a longer cord to the solar panel and they still work great. Not like car headlight bright, but plenty bright for some illumination in tough spots not near available electrical. Easy to install and set up. Great value for the money. ... show more

  • no real issues
Size: 2
it works. first of all this thing is tiny. maybe the size of your hand. not that bright. i guess if you just need a solar light and you needed it to work around areas where you can get sunlight in a certain area and run the light area to a place where there is no sunlight then yes this will help you out. so if you know you can use the length of the wire to get light in a area where sunlight is not possible then you can make use of this. i probably would not get this again depending on the situation. if you have direct sunlight in ALL situations then i would get something with high lumens. higher lumens = more brightness or so they say. i take that back on brightness. when it detects motion it is quite bright and covers a good area. depending on the height you install it. i installed it about 8 or 9 feet and it is quite bright for its small size. however if you constantly set the motion off it will use up the battery fast. 3rd edit: going to bump it to 4 stars. I said I wouldn't get this same model before but I bought 2 more. The biggest reason is convenience. I learned some valuable lessons during my solar light quest and I come to conclusion that the area you're trying to cover, height you install it, not expecting a street light from it and this item works as intended. During my solar lights quest I have bought one 600watt, 300watt, 150watt, lights slightly bigger than these, and now I have 4 of these. With that knowledge I now can focus these lights on a target area where I can simply zip tie these onto a fence and cover a smaller area where they will be very effective. If I could redo, I would have gotten 3 of the 150watt and 4 or 6 of these and have all the areas I needed covered. My point is make sure you have an idea of what you want to do and choose the right lights for that area and not make it do something it can't. For example I stuck this in a 10 foot pole and thought it would cover the front yard. Edit (4): after the winter storm last week of January 2023, somehow these still managed to come on after about 5 to 6 days of clouds, snow, sleet, and rain. I don't know if they are just battery efficient or they still managed to charge. 3 other different types of solar lights didn't come on or were extremely dim. I'd say these have been very reliable and weathered the storm (no pun intended). edit (5): i bought 2 more. the others are still going strong without a hitch. i decided to get 2 more for sort of decoration, its effectiveness, and it is very discreet. i already zipped tied 2 to the front gate and the solar part of it blends in so well i cant even see it. while the light portion is very discreet and provides some decor. so i'm just trying to space them out to where they just look nice along the fence and very impressive and effective looking at night. noticing neighbors down the road are trying to light up their yards at night with solar as well. these have been very convenient, reliable, and i found so many places to put them while giving the yard a decorative look. a relative has been so impressed with all the solar i have done around the property that i bought a couple for her too. ... show more

  • VERSATILE, BRIGHT FREE LIGHTING!
Size: 2
It's great to be have a solar panel on the South wall in the sun and the LED lamp on the North wall in the shade where light was needed ! My front door is recessed and gets very brief sunlight but I need to see my keys if entering door at nighttime this has solved that problem since the very long wire permits the solar collector to be located where the sun is strong facing south! The LED lamp has several settings depending on how much sun power is available. So I first tried the dusk to dawn maximum light setting but it didn't stay on till dawn as the sun exposure wasn't long enough. Then I set it for low light until motion detected setting and it lasted until dawn (except if raining all day!!) on bright light days! In my carport the other unit has the solar collector on the south backyard wall so it gets sun most of the day and the LED lamp stays bright longer on a North inside wall making my vehicle more secure from cat converter robbers! Great results with electricity for FREE! UPDATE 12/2024 Still working well IF BRIGHT SUN ALL DAY but now in winter daylight is short + cloudy & rain 2 or more days battery can't charge enough & not working after dark like usual . ... show more

  • Good solar panel lights. Extra cable for solar panel a huge plus.
Size: 2
Mounted both on our carport placing the solar panels outside for the sun to charge. So far these LED lights work well and we see them turn on several times at night. (Neighbors cat lurking around at night.) Pleased with them so far. Probably will never use the remotes. You have to be very close to the lights before these will work. Like a few feet! We just set them and forget them. Installation was very simple. Brightness satisfied our requirements. The extra cable length for the solar panels a big plus. We could mount the lights inside the carport where the lights worked the best. Then routed the solar panel cables outside to the sunshine. Nice. ... show more

  • Does not work with LED mounted in a shed if there is too much light hitting the solar panel
Size: 2
I bought this pair of lights several months ago. I mounted the LED panel inside a shed with the solar panel mounted outside the shed, running the connecting wired around a gap between the shed door and door frame. The LEDs turned on in all modes IF the solar panel was NOT connected. However, the LEDs would NOT turn on IF the solar panel WAS connected. I was testing in the daytime, and assumed that I must have pinched the wire and created a short circuit. I was wrong. Putting the problem aside for a time, I came back and tried the second solar panel -- same outcome: no light when the solar panel was connected, but proper light operation when the solar panel was not connected (note: I was closing the shed door for these tests, and the inside of the shed is pitch black with the door closed). Testing was again done in daylight. Then I took the solar panel down from the shed exterior and brought it inside the shed -- and when I closed the shed door, the LEDs went on even though the solar panel was still connected. Further testing showed that the LED will NOT work IF there is too much light shining on the connected solar panel -- which includes my overhead walkway light between my house and the shed. So, during the daytime, the LED's will not work, and during the nighttime the LED's will not work due to the nearby walkway light illuminating the solar panel. Accordingly, this product is USELESS for illuminating a shed or other dark enclosure if there is too much light hitting the solar panel. So I'm junking these units and looking for another product that actually works for my scenario. ... show more

  • 1,374 lumen per LED panel at most
Size: 2
Have questions of the 3000 lumen claim. As a result, the following tests are conducted: Testing platform: iPhone 13 pro max; Lux Light Meter Pro 1. Aiming the camera directly at the LED light, when at full brightness, and at a distance of 3 foot, measured an average of 49 Lux. 2. Aiming the camera directly at my bathroom vanity lights (a combined 7,600 lumen), at a distance of 3 foot, measured an average of 271Lux. By my most conservative estimation, a single LED light panel produced approx. 1,374 lumen at most, especially considering there are multiple other light sources around the testing environment. PS: LED panels looked super bright in the images, but I suspect it was assisted by the hardware/software image processing on the phone. Background: According to Open AI, Lux and lumen are related units of measurement, but they measure different things. Lux measures the amount of light that falls on a surface per unit area, while lumen measures the total amount of light emitted by a light source. To convert lux to lumen, you need to know the area of the surface being illuminated and the distance between the light source and the surface. Here are the steps to convert lux to lumen: 1) Determine the area of the surface being illuminated in square meters. 2) Measure the illuminance in lux using a lux meter. 3) Multiply the illuminance in lux by the area of the surface being illuminated to get the total amount of light in lumens. Total lumens = illuminance in lux x area in square meters For example, if the illuminance on a surface is 500 lux and the area of the surface is 10 square meters, then the total amount of light emitted by the light source in lumens would be: Total lumens = 500 lux x 10 sq. meters Total lumens = 5000 lumens So in this example, the light source is emitting 5000 lumens of light. ... show more
