  • Works very well - Easy to use
This has worked amazingly easy for me. I've had no previous experience with SMD, and I managed to make several boards over multiple days without problems. Large platform, smooth and even temp. The only issue I ran into was the display reported a temp 12 degrees higher than actual, but that was fairly easy to apply a correction for - In my case I pressed and held the set button for 10 secs until the display changed. Short press the select multiple times until you see SC on the display, use the arrows to adjust the correction up or down (in my case down 12), then press the select button again. It'll show LCK after that. I just waiting then until it timed out. After that it was showing the correct temperature. It has a REX-C100 controller for the temp. ... show more

  • Works great for reflow soldering SMD parts
I've been using this to reflow solder SMD parts on PCB's for my electronics hobby. Works great for that.

  • Heats Fast, Cools SLOW
It's great that it heats quickly (just a couple of minutes to bring the boards up to 400C). But it takes a long time to cool down. That will not meet standard reflow soldering profiles. So I need to carefully lift mine with pliers and move it to a silicon pad to cool, along with some added airflow. The temperature setting as shipped is not accurate. You need to calibrate it with an external thermometer placed on a PCB on sitting on the plate. 1. Press SET button 2. Up/Down arrows to set temp to desired degrees C (NOT F) 3. Press Set button 4. wait until red temperature on top matches set green temperature on bottom 5. calculate difference between that and your external temperature reading of your sample PCB 6. Set the temperature offset (permanent): a) HOLD SET button for 3 sec. b) tap multiple times until you see SC on top c) use Up/Down Arrow keys to set temperature offset d) wait until display times out Now test again and make another adjustment if necessary. You can set either a positive or negative offset. (Mine was negative.) ... show more

  • Perfect for Hotplate Soldering/SMD work
Works well, just try not to get flux on the surface. It heats up fairly quick, and stays warm for quite a while. The base its sturdy, and it weighs enough I'm not worried it'll get knocked off a table and fall on someone. For one-sided PCBs, I can make a batch of them in just minutes once it's up to temperature. I haven't heated it past 260C, but I'm sure it could exceed that without issue. For the money, great value, and it's convenient to solder several boards at once. ... show more

  • Worked for smd soldering
As it was delivered it took forever to raise temperature. In the reviews a reviewer gives instructions on how to change the PID settings to make it ramp up faster which worked for me. So far I'm very happy with it.

  • Good Hot Plate!
I like the Soiiw 110V 850W Soldering Hot Plate LED Microcomputer Electric Preheat Soldering Station. It is not very accurate, but it gets hot enough for me. Mine shows about 24C lower than the setting temp when set to 200C. The most I will probably ever need is 600F, and it gets that hot easily. For me that is acceptable for the price of the unit. Electronics Repair is one of my hobbies, so I'm pretty sure that I could take the unit apart and make the temp more accurate if I needed to. But I use my Brymen 869s or Fluke to measure the temp anyway, so it isn't that big of a deal for me. I went ahead and gave it four stars on accuracy. Your unit may be more accurate than mine. ... show more

  • Very annoying temperature controller
The temperature control is very annoying to use. As an example, if you set the temperature to 300C, when it hits 200C it will start applying reduced power, and then take an eternity to slowly creep up to around 300C. To work around it, I set the temperature about 100C over my target, and then keep an eye on it to adjust it down once it reaches the temperature I want. This advertised line couldn't be more wrong: "The constant temperature heating platform adopts high-performance CPU to control temperature, it has accurate temperature control and strong practicability" I reached out to ask how to adjust the PID parameters of the controller, and I was told it's not adjustable in any way. Very disappointing. It does reflow PCBs okay for me, and it also works fine as a pre-heater to get a PCB and components ready for hot-air rework. ... show more
