    • It does work, but I'm concerned about my health
It works exactly as it's supposed to, and in the few days I've had it, I used it to warm up a PCB for reflow soldering. All good there. If I take it to 200C or above, even with nothing on it, the air filter in my room quickly goes to its highest mode with the worst color in its monitoring that it has. So it seems something is burning off of this thing, and I'm a little concerned for my health. I'm probably not going to use it above 100C. ... show more

    • Bit schetcy, but works enough
For the first ~20 mins with a temp temp of 100c it smokes and puts off fumes like crazy, I recommend you set it outside, put the temp to something like 350c and wait until it stops. The power cord gets warm, which is a little concerning but It didn't get super hot so maybe not a huge deal. It only heats continuously until it is around 50 degrees or so below the target where it then pulses on and off which slows the rise in temp a bit, not unusable, just annoying. The reported temp is at least 20 degrees colder than real temp (I would even say it's probably more off...) Again, not unusable but keep it in mind so you don't cook things to death. The plate stays warm for a good while, which is a good and bad thing depending on the scenario. Overall all, it's decent, gets the job done but with some minor concerns. ... show more

    • Works very well - Easy to use
This has worked amazingly easy for me. I've had no previous experience with SMD, and I managed to make several boards over multiple days without problems. Large platform, smooth and even temp. The only issue I ran into was the display reported a temp 12 degrees higher than actual, but that was fairly easy to apply a correction for - In my case I pressed and held the set button for 10 secs until the display changed. Short press the select multiple times until you see SC on the display, use the arrows to adjust the correction up or down (in my case down 12), then press the select button again. It'll show LCK after that. I just waiting then until it timed out. After that it was showing the correct temperature. It has a REX-C100 controller for the temp. ... show more

    • Decent hot plate to reflow or repair PCBs
I have used it for a few months keeping my solder paste warm for stenciling and occasionally repairing boards. It's certainly capable of reflowing boards as well. Hope it will last.

The media could not be loaded. I am thrilled with this product. The manual is very lacking, but the product is so easy to use, there was really no need for it. The temperatures were within 1/2 degree Celsius of the displayed value as compared to a calibrated laser thermometer. The plate seems to be very evenly heated and so far have not seen any hot or cold spots. Would recommend. ... show more

    • Solid performer for reflow soldering and SMT
Using this to preheat pcbs for soldering surface mount, high density parts like fpbga. Works better than expected. Cover surface with kapton tape 2x larger than part area. Use a good gel flux like amflux and specify ENIG finish on bga pads to ensure super smooth, uniform soldering surface. Once board is up to mfg recommended preheat temp, is a hot air pencil 15deg above reflow temp on LOW flow and gently heat the placed part. Should take no more than 30sec to reflow part. I use a cheap video microscope and tweezers to manually olace parts. Rarely do I get a bad placement using this method. Temp of hot plate is even across surface to edges, verified with a thermocouple probe to 0.5C. ... show more

    • Works well, better quality than I expected
Given the low price compared to other hotplates I've looked at, I expected this thing to be junk. Surprisingly it is well-made. The top surface is machined aluminum, resulting in a uniformly flat surface! My single complaint, which is not a big deal, is that it takes a long time to heat up or cool down. That's because the top plate is big. There's much mass to heat or cool. Once it gets up to temp, it stays there within reason. I've used it for surface mount soldering and desoldering to reclaim components from old PCBs. It works great for both purposes! ... show more
