It is twice the quality of our previous seat; looks 10x nicer in the restroom; and, most importantly for us, it instantly fixed a serious discomfort issue with our old seat. If you are experiencing numbness or your legs fall asleep during normal-length visits to your commode with your current seat, please consider this one! It may fix your issue. When my partner and I moved into our current place, the toilet seat proved immediately to be deeply uncomfortable! I had never before in my life had an issue with a toilet seat, but this seat sloped harshly inward towards the bowl, and as a result when you sat on it, it mostly made contact with your outer thighs while providing virtually no support elsewhere. It was like sitting on two thin, plastic rails. Anything more than a two minute visit caused my legs, groin, and butt to become completely numb and disturbingly chill to the touch. I think it was cutting off my blood-flow, yikes! My partner was having similar issues so we agreed to ditch it and find a replacement. It was pretty challenging to find information about a seat's 'flatness' online, and on Lowes and Home Depot it required going to the reviews to see if anyone else had complained of feeling like they were sitting on rails (also how we discovered we weren't alone). Bath Royale's website was one of the very few that specifically mentioned how flat the seat was for your derrière. This model, the Executive, had a 'low/flat' seat contour according to the site, and true to their word the seat had a much shallower curve upon arrival. After testing for several days, sure enough, the issue has been fixed! No more numbness for either of us. This seat is a normal, comfortable seat, and we couldn't be more grateful for it. Everything after this is an added bonus in our book. The quick release for easy cleaning is genius and takes about 2 seconds to do. The quick release's studs are metal so you don't need to worry about breaking plastic connections as the seat ages. Speaking of, the seat and lid's plastic is much sturdier and almost twice as thick as our ex-seat's plastic. It looks nicer and tidier than our old seat, especially since they include covers to obscure the mounting hardware with the bonus of keeping the hardware clean. The bumpers do not squeak and are generously sized. The mounting hardware is almost entirely metal and very sturdy; only the nuts on the underside of your toilet will be plastic (on purpose so that they flex as they wedge into the mounting holes). The seat is overall quite robust and hasn't budged since installation even with us tugging on it on purpose to see if it would loosen or wiggle. According to the booklet that came with the toilet, the slow close can be forced down without harming the mechanism, if you don't want that feature.     • Nicely designed seat, easy installation
Hard to choose seats among all the choices, so the Amazon Reviewers are pretty helpful (thank you, all.) I wanted a seat that was easy to clean, not wood, acrylic but NOT the thin type that pinches you and feels a bit flimsy. This seat is more than the usual three fins but it's well worth it. At first, I thought the thing was over-designed. Usually, installing a toilet seat is a matter of two screws, two bushings (to fit in the porcelain back) two nuts and maybe a decorative cover to hide the screw attachment. In this case you get a choice of covers (chrome or white, and the option to order brushed nickel online.) There is a post assembly, two nuts, two bushings and a washer set for each. Installation at first seems complex but it actually didn't take any time at all and the instructions were VERY CLEAR and written in English (not just fuzzy drawings to puzzle out.) The seat is "quick release', meaning it sits on posts you install with the screws and nuts and cover with the decorative cover. A button on the back of the hinge lets you take the entire thing off for thorough cleaning of the throne. You know how dust and grime seems to accumulate near the seat hinge? Take off the seat and you have full access to wipe the back of the rim behind the bowl. The seat is slow close and seems to work. I keep the seat closed because I don't like my dogs using the commode as a drinking fountain. The seat drops down slowly and noiselessly. The seat itself is the new style, dished in rather than convex. Sometimes, these can be uncomfortable if you are a larger person (I'm almost six feet tall so I'm not a dainty little thing.) I shopped carefully for the seat because the cheap ones really feel insecure when you sit and they can pinch you in a sensitive area. This seat, though concave, is sturdy enough to hold a heavier person. But if you have super large people at home, you know, Sumo wrestlers, football players, etc, it may still not be what you want.
