  • Posibly the best Sub $250 10G SFP+ switch out there.
Been looking at SFP+/SFP28 switching and came across this. Since I have used other off brands like Mokerlink decided to give this Sodola SL-SWTG3C12F a chance. As a Cisco/Juniper network engineer I am impressed! Findings about this switch: -It is powered by the RTL9313 SOC. -Latest firmware 1.1.1.25 -The CLI is Cisco-lite with limited routing options (no BGP for example). Power usage(Kill-a-watt): Base unit, no Modules - ~4w Single - RJ45 10G-BaseT SFP = ~3w Single - SMF 10G SFP = ~1w Single - DAC SFP(passive) = ~0.15w total power with 11 SFPs (two SMF, two RJ45, 7 DACs) - ~13w The main cons about this switch(I will not remove stars for these due to the price): - the 40mm 2pin fan([email protected]). It is loud and always runs at max RPM. I pulled that fan out for a Noctua NF-A4x20 FLX and used the FL10 resistor inline cable that comes with that kit. The CFM is about the same as the stock Sodola fan and makes almost no noise. I cannot hear it in my wood lab rack at the very least. Running this switch on that fan with 2 RJ45 10G-BaseT SFPs, two SMF 10G SFPs, 6 DACs and the switch gets a bit warm, but its not any warmer then the PA220 or the Mokerlink G24410GSM above it. - SFP+ to SFP+ same metric on this switch caps at about 8.3Gb/s. Not a huge issue when you are not expecting to push max bandwidth per port, but this appears to be a limitation on the RT9313 SOC. - Routing on this switch caps at 6.8Gb/s, which is fine for most use cases but my Mokerlink G24410GSM (RTL9301 SOC) routes at 9.3Gb/s which is why this Sodola switch is uplinked to the Mokerlink for L3 routing. But considering this switch is about $240, can be bought for 160-180 with amazon discount codes (I got mine for 180 shipped), is fully featured except for BGP, runs near line rate port to port, has a decent WebGUI and fully featured CLI, I have to recommend this to anyone looking for a decent 10G SFP+ switch. ... show more

  • Great features for the price.
So far so good. I am using two of these as Ceph public and Ceph Cluster for my 5 node Proxmox cluster which is spread between three buildings by OM4 fiber. Even at distances over 175ft I'm seeing 0.2ms latency and 9.4-9.5gbit/sec. Super easy to set up LACP LAGs. Seller contacted me right away to let me know there was new firmware AND the seller responded to some after purchase questions in a very timely fashion. I am impressed! ... show more

  • It works but it is loud
it accepts 10gbs or 1gbs SFP's and devices . Documentation is non-existent as well as any support or downloads. Links on their website link to the product page on Amazon. The management software is workable but not the best. The device default IP 192.168.2.1, which if you use that network most likely it will conflict with the site router. All Sodola devices use that address. If you are using it as plug and play it can cause issues. If you are installing it in a rack the mount on the left side will partially cover the fan. Speaking of the fan it is extremely loud and runs at full speed all the time and has a high pitched sound. I measured the sound level with a sound level meter (not a phone app) and it measured 78db at the fan. the room went from a baseline of 35db to 60db with the addition of the switch. This is not useable in a home office/small office environment. As for the need of cooling I would imagine it is most useful if using RJ45 SFP+ modules as they run hot. There are no instructions on it's use so I don't know if there is a limit on RJ45 SFP+ modules. I was mostly using fiber SFP+ modules and did install a 10gbs RJ45 module to test. The switch only works with 1gbs or 10gbs SFP modules. I was able to use a 10gbs RJ45 module and connect at 1gbs 2.5gbs and 10gbs. I have other Sodola devices that are fanless and hav SFP+ ports with no problems. Lack of any online support and the extremely noisy fan make this a hard sell. I thought about replacing the fan with a Noctua but it drives the cost higher and into TP-Link 8 port SFP+ price range. ... show more

  • Low cost 10G switch!
Great L2/L3 switch with lots of 10G SFP+ ports

  • Not stable
After a day or two it gets unstable, and needs to be reset.

  • Good, 8 port 10GbE SFP+
The 8 port is not a L3 managed switch... Justing jumbo frames and vlans without issue. I've got a L3 managed switch fronting these to do the vlan routing. The interface is simple, but effective. Love the fanless design and the cost per port is around $15 when I bought it. Runs very cool without 10GbaseT transceivers, and the transceivers get hot as can be. One off thing, they shipped with firmware dated November of 2024. I downloaded the latest from the website, which doesn't include a date and on flashing it, it's August 2024. Support is responsive via email, but they take a full business day to respond, so be patient. In your support email, include as much as possible, network topology, model number, use case, etc. ... show more

  • All objectives achieved - perfect for my needs
Wanted to upgrade my home network to 10gb; sending big 4k movies between computers is too slow on 1gb connection. Needed managed switch for port aggregation to get more oomph from my NAS (2x1gb + 2x5gbUSB). Not much to say really: it worked out the box, easy to get into the settings and configure what I needed. Send and receive files between NVMe PCs stabilizes around 1GB/second, which is nice: 50GB movie file in less than a minute! Also can hardly perceive lag when remote control another computer. Only reason not giving 5 stars is because the internal fan has no speed control. It's maxed out and quite noisy. Be better to have some thermal throttling, or UI control. ... show more

  • This unit was too loud
Unit seemed to work fine with the SFP+ modules that I had on hand. The main issue that I had was what others have mentioned, the noise. As this was located in a bedroom, this just was not going to work for me. Otherwise, if you were just going to dump this in a closet where noise is not an issue, then I think that it is perfectly fine. I ended up buying a more expensive, lower port density, but quieter Mikrotik model. ... show more
