First of all, if you're just putting this in your kitchen to fill the space, it's basically perfect. The install was super easy, though your mileage may vary depending on where your outlet is. The biggest negative is the LED light - it's VERY cheap looking, it's positioned way in the back and just provides this weird little pool of light - it's barely useful as a task light. Trying to at least replace it with a less white light, will update if I figure it out. The second negative is the buttons - they work and feel solid but they look pretty cheap. The fan seems okay? It certainly enough to pick up the steam from boiling water etc. I'm using the carbon filters (sold separately) and I haven't tried anything like fish but broadly they seem to work. The best part is the price - it was cheap enough that I figured I'd buy it and if I didn't like it I'd replace it in a few months. No need. Because, second best thing, it looks sleep, modern if you ignore the buttons, and it checked off the box of getting a steam hood into my kitchen. ... show more

The installation on this is ridiculous. The chimney parts are nearly impossible to install. They have this kind of "french hinge" (it's not really a french hinge, but it's the closest I could come up with) thing that you have to get slide together. However, the upper chimney would need to somehow bend the laws of physics and go above the ceiling in order to clear the hinge lip. You can angle the top part out and get it to work, but the bottom part of the chimney prevents you from doing that. You could put the top chimney on first, but then you'll have an almost impossible time getting the bottom one attached to the bracket because the top chimney is blocking your ability to see wear the hinge part is. I could have screwed it to the bracket, but they didn't include any black screws. And they only included one screw of the correct size anyway even though it was silver. I guess it is really cheap though ... so it's got that going for it. ... show more
