  • WELL MADE SAFE FOR THE MONEY! GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
This is a well built safe for the money!! Can buy two of these for what the others want. I bought It because it has a keyed backup. It measures a little bit more than 7" tall. Wasn't a deal breaker though. It has a nice smooth finish and is well constructed. Bottom of the drawer is carpeted which was a plus for me. It has two 5/8" locking bolts on the sides. You have to remove the drawer to install floor anchors. I also used the cable around my bed frame. Just pop out a grommet and push threaded part into safe. Use lock washer and nut inside to the right of drawer, I used a little locktight for added security. The ONLY reason I give this 4 stars is when I had to put the drawer back in after mounting the ball bearing housing bent some and bearings fell out! It still closed ok but not as smooth on the right side. I'm gonna contact the company, once the send me a new rail I WILL change to 5 stars! They are kind of a pain to install because of space and it's tight under a bed period. If you a 2nd amendment gun loving American I can honestly say buy one. All in all. It's a good solid box and lock to store valuables in. I got 2 shotguns(barrel off) and 8 pistols and magazines with NO problems. Still got plenty of room for more. I will most likely buy another. I hope the company makes this issue right!!!! Hope this review helps anybody on the fence. Wasn't any reviews so I said what the hell! UPDATE. UPDATE. 4-14-2016 Had the issue with the drawer rail/track. You remember right?? Anyway. I email Snap Safe, 6 minutes after I pressed the send button(yes six I said) Will with the company called me!! I was very very surprised to say the least. I told him the issue I had and explained my dilemma to him. I emailed him a pic and told him exactly what I needed. Will then emailed me back at 530am the next morning saying that he was again sorry about the problem, and that the new replacement part was on the way. Within another hour he emailed with the UPS tracking number. I cannot say enough about the company's customer service and WILL too!! I would tell everyone I know about this!! It's all five stars for me!!! ... show more

  • Read this review - be informed as to what this is
Hey Amazonians. I am here to write this review, because it's not fair how this product is getting bashed all over the place. First is like to mention, I have many different makes and models of safes. So I'm not a newbie when it comes to safes. So here's the skinny. There are mainly 2 types of safes out there. 1) Theft Prevention and 2) Unintentional firearm / weapon access by children and other parties in the vicinity. This safe falls under #2. And I think many people don't get this concept of what that means. It means that, it's sturdy, and it Locks. BUT it is not constructed to prevent theft. So when you read the reviews of the "Hulk smashers" out there just purposely breaking the plastic retention knob off "testing" how strong it is in order to keep someone out.. Like a thief. And then bashing the safe because... Omg it broke under extreme force. They clearly don't understand the use of this type of safe. It's just meant to keep unwanted "family" access out. Not prevent theft. Yes, I know it comes with a locking cable. But this, I believe is just so that the safe is not easily stolen in a home robbery... And btw hulksters, robbers will not take the time to see if they can force this thing open. They'd rather just drag the whole thing out. It's thieving 101. So, if you're looking to purchase a convenient way to store your weapons just for the sake of locking it away from family members (mainly children), then you'll love this safe. It does what it's designed to do. And nothing more. If you need an actual safe for theft deterrent, then you'll want to keep looking. I hope this helped some of you decide what to do when it comes to this product. Just thought you'd all like to be informed before or after reading the "hulk smash" reviews. ... show more

  • I like it for what it is except for the beeping. The beeping CAN be disabled
UPDATE: Instructions in how to disable the beeping when you press buttons are included at the bottom of this review.... I like it. You have to know what it is and what it is not to appreciate it. It is NOT a thief proof safe. With a standard crowbar I'm guessing it would take me maybe a minute to have this thing open. It's just not a bank vault. It IS a family security safe that will keep kids or nosey guests out of your business. While you can break into it, you cannot break into it quietly. Nor can you break into it and close it back up with no trace you were in it. So kids aren't likely to mess with it while you're not home and snooping guests won't because it would make too much noise. (Also, if snooping guests are a problem, get new friends) It is roomy. It's kind of a TARDIS, as it seems bigger on the inside. You can cram quite a bit in there. The carpet is nice for scratch protection but it offers no cushioning. A simple egg crate or foam piece from Home Depot will solve that if you have a need for that. The drawer glides smoothly. Not a single complaint there. The unlock knob feels loose and rickety but it's not. I pulled the casing off the back of the locking mech (inside the drawer) and you can see why the knob feels loose. The internal mech that pushes the locking pins in plan wobbles. It's neither good nor bad. It's just the design. The knob is directly connected to that mech so it feels loose. But it's not going anywhere. It's held into it's retaining rod with a locking washer and nut. It's secure. Being wobbly probably provides some protection against it getting kicked or bumped under the bed as it's not super rigid. It is a plastic part that has some give to it so a kick won't shatter it. And it does NOT let me open the drawer when locked no matter how hard I turn it by hand. I specifically tested that based on other reviews. Mine locks well. It is heavy. It's not easy to lift. No one is going to covertly sneak it out of your house during a dinner party while your back is turned. (Again...why are you hanging out with people like this?) The bottom is smooth so is slides around on carpet pretty well if you need to move it. I wouldn't want to move it around every day, but if you needed to get behind it once in a while you could. If it slides too much a few strips of velcro on the bottom (the rough side of velcro) will keep it in place on carpet. Rubber strips will keep it in place on hardwood. Both are available at any hardware store, Wal Mart, Target, etc For getting it upstairs it was easy enough to take the drawer out and carry the inside and outside up separately. It is not easy to put the drawer back in and you can damage the sliders doing it. It would be easier to put the drawer back in with help. I did it alone and it was hard to line up both sides at once. Some people have complained about the package arriving beat up. Yes. Mine did as well. But it's pretty well boxed up. The safe itself comes fully assembled. It is wrapped in a layer of Styrofoam panels on all sides. Then a cardboard box is wrapped around the whole thing. Then another layer of Styrofoam panels is wrapped around that cardboard box and put into a larger box. So there are 2 layers of Styrofoam and two layers of cardboard. I didn't measure it but I'm guessing it adds about 3 inches of padding on every side. So the retail box is a good deal bigger than the safe itself. Mine was beat to hell and back on the outside but the interior cardboard box looked brand new. THE BEEPING! AND HOW TO DISABLE! My only complaint was the beeping when you touch the buttons. It's pretty loud. And annoying. I pulled the internal casing off the lock mechanism inside the drawer. It is the metal cover inside the drawer behind the keypad held on by 4 screws. There is a control board right behind the buttons held on by 2 screws. The beeper is the small round black thing about 1/2 inch tall at the top of the circuit board. (See images below) It is soldered to the board. It's easily removed with a soldering iron if you know what you're doing. If you don't know how to solder, don't learn on this. You can damage the circuit board easily. (See photo. The pins marked D2 and D7 are the solder pins that need to be removed. It's not a simple wire to cut.) That circuit does not need to be completed for the board to function otherwise. There is no internal circuit testing to verify the beeper is in place. So once it is removed the whole system works fine without it. Also...take the batteries out or unplug the power cable to the board before doing this. The beeping is annoying and it had to go. Removing the beeper device from the board is the only option. Wrapping a piece of foam around it actually made it louder. (Heck if I know why) ... show more
