I must have gifted snap circuits at least 5 times now. What a great tool to help kids understand how things work. My son got this about 10 years or so ago. Not saying this is the contributing factor, but he is now working on becoming an electrician.

I bought this for my girlfriend's 10 year old son for his birthday. He likes to take things apart and see what makes them tick ( as it so happens so do I). H e seriously was playing with this INSTEAD of the new Xbox One. That more than shocked the heck outta me. Even better his mom told me the next morning that he pulled this out and was playing with it before ever starting up the Xbox. I hope he will learn with it and not just make the sound chip work or the light or the speaker and tone changer work for giggles. He has asked me about some of the projects in the book that comes with it and I have helped him with some of the basics to get started. Overall, this is a surprisingly simple and safe set. I tried to shock myself with it a few different ways ( not while the 10 year old was around) and so far I haven't been able to draw much more than a tingle. I was surprised by that being all that happened and it soothed some ruffled feathers my girlfriend had. I think this will be a great teaching tool while being disguised as a toy. Time will tell if I end up making an electrician or if I need to get more broken things to teach him small engines, ac current devices, or HVAC.... time will tell. ... show more

I bought this for my 7 tr old grandson. He wanted to do the hardest one first. He had some struggle with getting it together. He worked the easiest ones faster it kept him entertained for a while.

Great gift for my 10 year old grandson. We use it together because I think he needs supervision. Not all kids his age will need supervision.
