For "unique" platforms that really genuinely can't have a standalone light, this is amazing. It was incredible for it's laser performance at this price point (although the illuminator is a bit meh) and one of the 3 units I have has a constant ~2MOA wandering zero no matter what it's mounted on. Now that the Trinity is out, I won't be buying anymore HFXC's, but I won't be selling any of mine either. I'll be placing the Trinity on the platform with white light on board already, and reserving these for said unique platforms earlier. I like them for more than just delivering a solid product. I recently purchased the SMS HFXC so see if I liked using a laser before I go and buy a PEQ 15. I do not have much experience with similar units so if some things I say sound stupid or obvious keep that in mind. I gotta say for the price point I was very skeptical. Reading reviews I was surprised to see very few people had bad things to say about it. So here is my hopefully helpful and un-biased review. The unit was packaged well and comes in a small plastic lock box. It comes with the unit, a battery, charger, extra screws, a switch with momentary and constant button, a cleaning cloth, instructions and tools. ALL TESTS were done with fully charged batteries included with the unit and at full power setting on a moonless night. The visible light surprisingly does seem to be close to 1000 lumens. It covers a wide area and reaches out as far as would be expected from a multi-function unit. The laser is easily visible past 250 yards and very bright. The IR light does not have the spread I would like to see on this unit but it does reach a fair distance. The IR laser is plainly visible even when operating the IR laser/light. OVERALL. I think for $270 the unit is well worth the money especially for someone who is using it to hunt hogs or coyotes and wants a budget friendly laser/light combo that looks pretty sick. I would definitely plan on buying a better switch if you want to run it side mounted. I would really like to see this with a QD mount so the unit can be taken on and off while retaining zero. Dislikes: • The pressure pad is not great quality. Kind of expected but, it comes with that rubber rail attachments like the streamlights do and I just think they are cheap and useless. • The IR light does not get very wide. It’s completely adequate for indoors work but outside you will want a better IR light if you need more area coverage. • If mounting the unit on the top rail, you will not be able to run a flip down front sight as it will block the laser. Easy fix, just run it side mounted but it is a little disappointing that the laser sits directly center (yes I get why one would want it inline). • Lack of QD mounting option. Likes: • The light is very bright and covers a wide area while still offering a nice range of illumination. • Price-to-functionality • Aesthetic • Laser power • Adjustable IR light beam (even though it does not get very wide.) Was a decent tool to use while I had it- I ultimately returned it after one night session. Visible laser and light function fail during the concussion of a shot and revive immediately after the shot- Under my nods however, this performed quite nicely. Didn’t have to adjust the IR laser much; and I went through 10 mags. IR Light was alright, but not very valiant in terms of focus- It’s a good little tool for plinking and having fun and practicing. Wouldn’t rely on this for real-world unless it’s all that was left. At least talking for the visible settings. ... show more

Great value. Has a powerful white light and visible LASER. Also has an IR targeting LASER visible with NVG and less powerful IR light. It mounts securely on standard Picatinny rails and can be used with either the on/off button on the unit or an included pressure pad that can be easily placed on the fore end by the shooter’s off-hand fingers.
