These are very nice and look wonderful. There are differences though between these and the 100% version from the brand. My windows are all facing the full force of the sun during the day. I like to sleep in total dark and I hate having to run my AC. These curtains do make a big difference for me. PROS: -- These get the living room (with a larger window) almost but not quite as dark. Even in the bright midday sunlight, you can see that they do a good job in the living room. --These really do darken a room. -- To my surprise, they also really tamp down outside noise. I live at the front of the building and I love that I'm not hearing all the distant chatter and moving about. -- They look more lux than I expected for the price. There is nothing cheap-looking about these. -- The black ones don't accumulate dust. I was worried about that because we get a lot of dust. -- Out of about 6 brands I priced, these were the best for quality. Also, you get 2 panels for the price. -- Though these did have some wrinkles when I unpackaged them, those fell out after a couple of days when I used wrinkle-release spray. Do that after you hang them up and the wrinkles gradually fade. -- I have yet to turn on my AC this summer & usually, I have to as soon as we hit 80F. There are no real negatives but I want to point out something. The grommets are large and can let in a lot of light. I hung mine higher than I expected to work around this. You can see that the living room curtains sit a bit high off the floor. It doesn't look bad but just plan for this. I also threaded some fabric through the bedroom curtains to block the grommets. Comparing these "regular" blackouts to the 100 % blackout curtains (from the same brand), I prefer the 100% version for the extra cooling effect alone. These are (according to the seller when I asked) "85%-99% blackout". I think they are correct. Just pay attention when ordering because it's easy to get these instead of the 100% blackout version. (I do prefer the 100% ones for the extra cooling I get from them.) For cooling, these have been so nice. I can tell a difference with these in the living room. However, there is a HUGE cooling effect with the 100% blackout that I have in my bedroom. Between these and the floor fan, I have no need yet to turn on the AC and the outside temps here have been as high as 85F. The humidity is really high with the heat. These curtains - even the "regular" blackout ones have been a big help. But, again, I would suggest just getting the 100% blackout. They are worth every penny for what I save on my electricity. Keep in mind that it's going to depend on how much temperature protection you need. If you just need decent cooling (or heat retention), these are really good. If, like me, you are dealing with a lot of heat from the sun go with the 100% blackout from the brand. ... show more

    • Not perfect but gets the job done

I got the 66 x 84 inch Black color set. Each panel is 66" wide and 84" tall, not the other way around (I have made this mistake before). So, one order of these curtains covers roughly a 100" wide window. They block the light and help keep it cool in the summer. I noticed a huge difference in between the days before and after I installed them. They're a little stinky when you first open them up but they air out quick. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because they don't TOTALLY block the light. I don't mean on the bottoms top or sides, but when the light is hitting them directly, you can see tons of gaps in the threads. These are not two layered, as most high end blackout curtains are. These are just really thick single layer sheets. They do a really good job of blocking out light and heat and look fine, but if you are looking for something that will let ZERO light through, I would look for something with two layers. However, for the price, they do a great job. I am very happy with them and would definitely recommend them. ... show more

I bought these in gray for my living room because it gets very hot in there in summer and cold in winter. The sun gets bright in there and you can’t see the tv. I was so pleased with the feel and quality of the fabric. Much nicer than other cheap curtains. I put a valance that is white, gray and touch of purple over them. Looks exquisite, expensive, beautiful! I notice such a difference in the temperature in the room since I hung these. I save money from not having to run the air conditioning now. Amazing! Definitely room darkening and does the job insulating. I am so extremely happy with these gray curtains I bought 2 more sets for a bedroom. If you are looking for curtains, get these. A couple years ago I bought a cheaper brand and found out that they were not the same size as they had been the previous year. So I hunted on Amazon, until I found these that were a little bit wider than some others, and they fit my windows so nicely that I can overlap the wall and the seam in the middle so that it truly does keep all the light out when the morning sun tries to come in And I put a Valance over the top where the grommets are so I do have total blackness, unless the cat pulls the drapes open😊 ... show more

I suggest buying a special curtain rod specifically for blackout curtains, and installing the rod at least 2 inches above the window frame (and 2 inches to either side of the frame). If you use another type of rod or don't leave enough space, you may get light leakage at the top. You will also need to iron the curtains before installing them. Because of the heavy metal rings at the top, I washed my set on delicate and used low heat on the dryer with some extra towels. Even taking them out immediately, the fabric was still creased. I had to iron them before hanging. Not a huge issue, but these are definitely not "wrinkle free". On the plus side, they come in a nice variety of colors. They block out most, if not all of the sunlight and heat from my windows. And the value for the money is good. ... show more
