I am really impressed with this smart chime! It’s an affordable, hassle-free addition to a Google Nest Doorbell setup, especially since it requires zero wiring or paid subscriptions. The packaging is as straightforward as it gets—just the doorbell and an instruction manual. Setup is a breeze: you simply plug the chime into any standard wall outlet and follow the step-by-step instructions. They really took their time detailing every part of the process, making it completely foolproof even if you aren't super tech-savvy. The first step is adding the device to the Smart Life app. Since I already use Smart Life for a few other smart devices, it was seamless to just add this new chime to my existing list. From there, connecting it to Google Home was equally smooth. You just add the device to your Google Home, set up a quick automation so it rings whenever your Nest Doorbell is pressed, and you're good to go. The entire setup process took me under 10 minutes from start to finish! The volume can get very loud if you need to cover a large home. And since it is connected to Google home through your Wi-Fi network, you literally can place it anywhere as long as you have Wi-Fi signal. Plus, the chime features a built-in light that can flash simultaneously when someone rings, which is an amazing feature for households with sensory impairment issues. I highly recommend picking this up!

No I can hear the doorbell upstairs with the TV on

This is a great little smart device accessory. I always have trouble hearing the doorbell upstairs with the TV on. So anyway in the box is the remote doorbell and an instruction sheet. I have no experience adding another device to my smart doorbell as that's the only smart device I have. So I did get it a little confused at first and didn't get it to work. So I did it all over again and got it to work properly. It really wasn't difficult. This doorbell has a good number of different chimes you can choose from, there is also a volume control. There are three buttons on the device. The only one you really need is the one to pair it with your system and link it with your WiFi too. You can control the volume and chime sounds from your phone. BUT, before you start you have to install the Smartlife app on your phone. It's all free, there's no monthly subscription. You do have to register the app with your email address and a password. You can use your phone number instead of your email address but it wouldn't work with mine. So next is just follow the steps on the instruction sheet using the Smartlife app first, basically pairing then adding the device and then setting up a "tap-to-run" shortcut. Then you link it to Google Home (that's what I have) and follow those steps and it will then ring when your doorbell rings. And that's all there is to it.

google nest NOT linked

Does not actually link to google home. All my other smart plugs on the Smartlife app come over into google home app, but the wireless doorbell extenders I bought here DO NOT. Alexa app sees them just fine, but they are not showing up on google home. I don't know if google is blocking them or there is an issue with the Smartlife app, but if you want these to extend a google nest doorbell, then this isn't the product for you.

Wow, this doorbell chime extender was a beast to set up. This is why I docked two stars. It took me and my friend 1 full hour to figure out how to get it to work. In addition to your doorbell app (ring or nest), you also need to download Google Home app, SmartLife app and Alexa app. If you already use these apps and know how they work and link together, this should be a piece of cake for you. If you are like me and don't use them, then the enclosed instructions don't really help. In order for this chime to work, you must set up the Homelife app and pair it with this chime. Then, you must open the Alexa app and link it to the Google Home app and the SmartLife App and the Doorbell (Ring) app. We did use the Alexa help to tell us how to link up the other apps to Alexa. You need to go to the Alexa+ Store and add the correct apps and link together. Once they are all linked, you create a routine on the Alexa app: When the Ring Doorbell is pressed, then make the Chime sound. There is a several second delay from the press of the doorbell to the ring sound turning on. On the upside, the chime has quite a few fun chimes including holiday and original old world doorbell chimes. In the alexa app you can set it to also flash the lights on the chime, if you need a more visual notification that someone is at the door. Now that it is set up, I think it will work just fine as long as I don't accidentally forget why I have these apps on my phone and uninstall them.

Great for wireless set up!

I have a traditional wired doorbell, and because it requires a driver, it seems to malfunction all the time. I’ve dealt with a lot of annoying buzzing and other issues, which is why I really like the idea of having a wireless chime instead. I’m using a Google Nest Doorbell, and eliminating the need for additional wiring just makes so much more sense to me. This is especially nice because I can’t hear my existing doorbell down in the basement office. Setup was very straightforward, and I like that this works with Google Home without requiring a subscription. The chime has a good range of volume settings, so you can make it loud enough to hear throughout the house without it being obnoxious. There are also plenty of ringtone options, which is a nice little feature if you don’t want the same standard doorbell sound. For a larger home, office, apartment, or rental property, I think having a wireless chime is especially convenient. You can put it where you actually need to hear it instead of being limited by where the existing doorbell wiring happens to be. For me, the biggest advantage is simply getting away from the buzzing and reliability problems I’ve had with my wired setup. It’s a much cleaner and easier solution for my Google Nest Doorbell.

Could Not Get It to Work With My Current-Gen Nest Doorbell

I bought this specifically because I have a current-generation Google Nest doorbell at my front door and wanted a chime in my detached office. The idea was simple: when someone rings the doorbell, I wanted to hear it in the office so I would know to go answer the door. Unfortunately, I could never get this working as advertised with Google Home. I followed the included setup instructions step by step, but what I saw in the SmartLife and Google Home apps did not match the directions very well. Some of the options the instructions referred to either were not where they were supposed to be or simply did not appear at all. I was able to get the chime connected in SmartLife, but the important part was linking it into Google Home so it could respond to my Nest doorbell. That is where everything stopped working. The device never showed up in Google Home in a usable way for the doorbell. I spent quite a bit of time going back through the setup, reconnecting the accounts, and checking the apps because I thought I had missed a step. I eventually came to the same conclusion another reviewer mentioned: SmartLife may recognize the device, but that does not necessarily mean Google Home will expose it in a way that lets it function as a Nest doorbell chime. The hardware itself seems fine. It looks good, and has a good assortment of tones within the app to choose from. It plugs directly into an outlet so you don’t have to worry about the battery life. It has plenty of volume, and has a good price point. None of that really matters for my use, though, because extending my Nest doorbell into the detached office was the entire reason I ordered it. The listing specifically presents this as working with Google Nest doorbells, so I expected the Google Home integration to be straightforward. In my case, it was not. Whether this is caused by outdated instructions, a SmartLife integration problem, or a change on Google’s side, I cannot say, but I could not get the advertised Nest functionality working. For my intended use with a current-generation Nest doorbell, this ended up being a disappointment.

When we installed our new video doorbell, we quickly realized that hearing the phone notifications wasn’t enough when we were busy around the house. I picked up this smart Wi-Fi doorbell chime because I wanted a solution that didn’t require any hardwiring into the walls. The setup was incredibly straightforward through the app, completely skipping any need to mess with electrical wires or transformers.
