  • Been working for years.
I first purchased the switch of this type in June of 2019. I have used it in a bathroom and it has worked very well. One thing I really like about it is I have a lot of Wi-Fi outages here and it always reconnects without me having to do anything. I just ordered another one because I have some grow lamps, that I wanted to turn on and off at certain times. I have installed it and it is following the schedule just as it should. As another reviewer mentioned, it does come with a plate on the front of it, but that plate can be taken off and the switch can be put in a multiple switch location. One of the reasons that I chose this particular switch is because of its physical size. It was easy to get it in beside the other switches. And the connections were very easy to make. ... show more

  • Tasmota Compatible
These light switches are great for locations that don't need dimming. They have a nice clean look (Wife approved). Purchased on 9/11/2022 and was able to flash with Tasmota without soldering. You can just push in breadboard jumpers in the little hole in the attached pictures. Tasmota template is below. {"NAME":"MJ-S01 Switch","GPIO":[0,0,0,0,320,321,0,0,224,32,0,0,0],"FLAG":0,"BASE":18} ... show more

  • The best company for Wi-Fi swithes
The unit is about the same size as a GFI. It uses wire pigtails instead of terminals, but the wires are nice and flexible and it comes with wire nuts. Connection is easy to complete and stable once connected.

  • I've re-ordered twice and am slowly converting all my light switches to these
I opted for smart switches instead of bulbs for a couple of reasons: 1) The thought of dropping anywhere from $15-$30 per bulb for smart bulbs seemed crazy to me 2) I have kids who like to play with switches and I could just picture the frustration of trying to control the bulb from my Echo or my phone only to realize the switch had been switched "off" Those two reasons put me on the hunt for an affordable smart switch, and this one was one of the cheapest on Amazon, seemed like a good place to start. Just to be safe I only ordered one, I've since ordered 3 more and plan on ordering another 3 soon. Here are a couple of reasons I think these switches are one of the best deals out there for making your house a smart house - Installation - As others have said, it's pretty basic, if you can install a regular light switch you can install these. If you can't...find someone who can or hire an electritian, now that I've installed 4 of them it takes me about 10 minutes each time. Activation - pretty straight forward, the first 2 I set up had an error but the instructions had a handy dandy note of "what to do if you get an error" it was one extra step and they worked great after. App - I'm sure the smart life app isn't as slick as many of the higher-priced competitors but it's just as powerful. I have my porch light set to automatically turn on when the sun sets, and I've been able to tie switches and plugs together in the app. Integration - for anything the app can't do (or would be easier to do in a different app) there are good integrations. Using IFTT I have it set up so my entryway light turns on when I pull in the driveway. Using Alexa I have it set up so that when I say "It's movie time" my light switches all turn off and a lamp turns on for the perfect ambiance. So far I haven't run into any ideas I want to try that can't be done either through the native app or IFTT/Alexa. Appearance - These don't look cheap, they are modern and clean, I set up 2 of them as a double post and bought a seperate face plate which was easy to do, but otherwise the faceplate that they come with looks just fine. Value - Here's the big one, these are never listed for more than $20 and as of writing this they are $16 each, you can't find other reliable switches on Amazon for that price. I usually just watch for them to go on sale and I'll snag a couple. I've had my first switch for about a year now and the other three for 3-6 months with no issues. I'm planning on ordering more and can't recommend them enough! ... show more

  • The value this switch presents really can't be beaten.
Whenever I buy smart products as affordable as these light switches I'm skeptical. I'm skeptical about the functionality, I'm skeptical about the quality, I'm skeptical about everything. If you're anything like me, then you are too. Well, let me put some of your fears at ease. Physical installation: Provided you were intelligent enough to read in the description that a neutral wire was required installation is a breeze. Flip off your breaker, unhook your old switch, hook up your new switch, and bingo. I had one snag here. There's a live and a load connection, unfortunately, on regular old switches these aren't labeled. Live is from the breaker, Load goes to the load/light you're switching. I hooked mine up backward the first time, oops. Was hoping that was the case and I didn't get a dud. Flipped the breaker, swapped the connections and was back in business quickly. Yes the box is large, yes the household wiring can make things a tight fit. This seems to hold true for all smart switches, as such I was expecting it. No problems there, open the switch you're planning to replace before you order and make sure your box has enough room inside before ordering. As far as the plate goes, yes it is removable/replaceable with a standard decora type plate using the standard mounts as shown in the second picture. I was concerned when I first opened the package despite others saying it was removable. Let's face it, not everyone who reviews products is accurate. At first I was concerned the plate was welded to the switch, it's not, the manufacturer just made sure it was really snuggly on there. A little more prying than I cared for (but ensures a snug fit when you put it back on) and it popped right off. The back of this plate with its clips are shown in the third picture Digital installation on Google Home: At first I was really disheartened when I opened the manual for where to find their app. I don't use a QR code reader and prefer to look things up myself. Well there are two apps on the PlayStore with the same name and only after scrutinizing the picture was I able to determine the publisher of the one this switch needs is Tuya. I had a little difficulty getting them to pair up because the first time I tried I was closer the router than switch in my home. Walked over the switch and tried it again and the app found the switch. The app doesn't seem to have any strange stand out permissions. Once you've set up everything in the app pairing things up with Google Home was the standard experience. I have had NO issues with the wifi connection dropping on it. The verdict? It's been over a week since we ordered the switch. At first it seemed that the physical operation of the switch felt a little cheap. I talked to my brother-in-law about his switches and had a personal revelation. We don't touch the switch itself much and that really isn't important to us. All in all, we're happy. If anything happens I'll come back and update my review, but we're hoping that is a non-issue. No news is good news. ... show more
