  • 5.0 out of 5 stars An automated on/off switch with Apple Home
Item Package Quantity: 2
I bought the double pack. Downloaded the free app for my iPhone, opened Apple's Home App, and added each outlet switch in under a minute. The entire setup was a breeze. Then I programmed automation in Apple's home kid in under a minute. So easy! Flawless! They look nice too, and are as small as they could possibly be. Highly recommend those! ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Great Value!
Item Package Quantity: 2
Full Disclosure: I received this product at no charge. However, there were no strings attached and this is my honest opinion. The items were a little larger than I expected. However, they are far more compact than the full size plugs I previously purchased. As you can see in one of the pictures I posted, it doesn’t block the other plug when plugged into a normal two outlet wall plate. Using it on a power strip or surge protector is a different story. Because of the layout of most of these items, the plug can block 1 or 2 adjacent outlets because of the orientation. I’ve seen items where the prong assembly can be rotated up to 90 degrees to resolve this problem depending on the geometry of what it’s being plugged into and I think having that feature would be a big differentiator for this product. Setup was easy. It does require HomeKit to do the setup but you don’t have to use HomeKit to control it. Once I connected it, it appeared in Alexa, Google Home and the Meross app. I never even used the eHomeLife app that is recommended because I was already using the Meross app and didn’t want yet another app for IoT devices. Thankfully, when I installed the devices from the Meross app, they showed an update available and updated with no issues. From what I understand, Meross and Refoss are “sister” companies. At some point I may try the eHomeLife app to see if it offers anything significant that the Meross app doesn’t. But other than updating the firmware of the devices, I really don’t use it for anything related to plugs and switches. All of that I do via Alexa. Based on my experience with Meross and Refoss devices, I have no problem recommending them for home automation. Sure, there are things that could be improved (and I REALLY wish the wall switches were offered in black as well as white) but they appear to be solidly built and are very affordable. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Works well with Amazon Alexa despite problems linking the eHomeLife skill
Item Package Quantity: 2
So far so good with these Refoss smart-plugs. Their size is about the same as some other brands of smart-plugs that I own. Already using a Meross outdoor smart-plug, I logged into the eHomeLife Android app with the same credentials that I use for the Meross app. Having already connected to my separate network for IoT devices, I set up the plugs very easily with the eHomeLife app. As a bonus, they automatically showed up as devices in my Alexa app, which I was not expecting. I guess this happened because I already had the Meross skill enabled for Alexa. Speaking of Alexa skills, I tried to enable like eHomeLife skill like I thought I should. However, when trying to link the accounts I kept receiving a “No such user” error when trying to log in with the same credentials I used for the eHomeLife app itself. After quite a bit of time experimenting and trying, I just gave up because the plugs were already integrated fine with the Meross skill. Maybe this is part of the issue, but I am not sure. I tested turning the plugs on/off using both my Echo and the button on the plugs themselves, and they worked perfectly. I’m looking forward to using these for my indoor Christmas decorations so that I can retire the non-smart, remote control plugs that I was using for the decorations. Even though the eHomeLife Alexa skill gave me trouble I still recommend these smart-plugs. EDIT (07/31/2020): I contacted support about my problems with the eHomeLife Alexa skill, and here is what they said: "After I checked your account, I found it was registered via Meross app, therefore when you try to link your account to Alexa or Google Home, you need to use Meross instead of eHomelife interface, otherwise your will get the 'no such user' error. However for application, you can use either eHomelife or Meross app." ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Works as advertised; Have to download app
Item Package Quantity: 2
I bought this smart outlet hoping it would work both with Apple HomeKit AND Google Home apps. I’m happy to say that it can do both HOWEVER, it does require you to download their app to connect to the Google Home App / Nest devices. Their app isn’t required to use with Apple HomeKit. Having to download their app is why I gave 4 stars, but otherwise it’s worked great for me off the bat. ... show more
