After a simple install, this being my first lock change, I can tell you this thing is integrated into my life, my wife's my in-laws. But as a product it's not without its flaws - and i want to help people know what they get. My two surprises: - no fingerprint reader - not wifi-enabled - wife and i cant be logged into the app at the same time The first is my mistake- the deadbolt-only version doesn't have a fingerprint reader. But as long as you know this, you'll be happy since you have 1) multiple passcode options 2) a key fob option and 3) an app option. Similarly, I think I just assumed all smart devices had wifi - it wasn't represented in the product page - and anyway now I think I like knowing that it's only openable by app within 2m Bluetooth range - anybody hacking in would be caught on my door camera. So - wifi is more secure - that's a benefit, how i see it. The nearly unforgivable thing about this lock is that simple, repeatable actions don't always work to unlock it! The fob - it might not open on the first, or even second try! I hope I don't need to tell you how it feels to stand at your door wondering if you're locked out because of a stupid 'smart' lock. It needs to open on the first try, not emit some cute series of beeps I never have time to look up, only to finally work on the 3rd or 4th try. Also, to enter the password, you must first wake the device up - as opposed to a device with hardware buttons, this has a touch-screen. Looks great, but what if the first, second or 3rd time you make the 'starfish' gesture to wake it up (or tap, or swipe, etc), it doesn't wake up ?! I'd have returned this lock if I didn't discover that the app works reliably every time- I click unlock as I leave my car, and as I approach the house door, I hear the lock open and the green light show unlocked. My wife doesn't mind the occasional re-gesture like I do saying "it always works eventually". Hmm. Too long for this developer of software. The biggest happiness of this lock though, wasn't one I was looking for - the auto-lock function. Once tuned to the right duration (3 minutes for us), then as long is the door was fully closed, knowing that someone won't be walking into our house randomly (as happened to make me want to buy a smart lock) is worth the peace of mind. ... show more

I have the other SIfely lock on my door and I was so satisfied that I purchased the deadbolt. I have to say that the purchase is totally worth it. I received the lock and set it up myself with ease. It is great to have options to access my apartment. I am home alone quite often, I live in a multi-family home.     • You can't see the digital display in the daylight

Overall decent deadbolt action. But the display is a major design flaw. It cannot be read during the day. Your only hope to read where the numbers are is the look directly on to the device and see the outline of the digital display. It's very inconvenient and guests can never figure it out. Also frustrating is the lock takes a press to activate on one of the buttons. It has to beep first to detect usage then you type the code. Many people can't figure that out because the keypad illuminates even without a beep. What is that? Most frustrating is the app (with bridge) dies not report lock status easily unless you click on this obscure icon that appears after selecting the lock. I have 4 locks and have to dig through each icon presses to wait for lock status? Once you connect to Alexa its easiest to see the status there. Another nuisance is the app does not show lock jam status. So if the door isn't closed correctly and the lock keeps trying to lock over and over again, you will never get a notification. Alexa does show a routine for "jammed" status but I have not tried that to confirm if such a status is reported. The other problem is the app is rather poor. The lock timout refuses to change from the app. It is permanent to 30s which is too fast. I'd like 15 minutes. My understanding now is that you must use the code right after you change the setting for it to take effect. Also the code generation is not straightforward. It wants to generate you a random code and once you setup a schedule you can't change to your own code. The installation was a bit difficult. At first I tightened the screws tightly to the door as you would want, but the lock failed to latch. The latch mechanism is very sensitive and I found the screws needed to be almost loose for it to function. It seems that on Left handed doors the latch was not very smooth to close, but on the default right handed door, the bolt action was very smooth. The screws used to attach the lock to the door are probably #10's which are very small in my opinion. The screws also only have about 1/4" of attachment to the outer lock. The deadbolt is not very strong. In other words, this lock would easily be removed from your door with a simple crowbar and hammer. This is not a sturdy lock. I suggest cameras and an alarm system if you care about the contents of your home. The Wifi gateway was helpful but I couldn't figure out how to add more locks on Alexa once I initially added the Skill. Unfortunately, the Skill name is not "Sifely" and you have some weird name listed in the manual. Also, my black lock arrived with dings on it. Very annoying as I had already removed the other lock. Overall the exterior lock looks pretty slick. I do like the key fob access too for multiple locks. ... show more
