These are NOT the old ESP-based YTF bridges, they use the newer Realtek SoCs. 4 stars because they are luckily still fully pin-compatible, so you can desolder and replace that with an ESP12 for running Tasmota. Plus, they're VERY inexpensive.

    • Very Basic Smart Remote
First of all this device is cheap that is why I bought it, so you get what you pay for. The device is not the easiest to setup, the blue light did not come on when I plugged, so I thought the USB cord I was using was faulty, but it was not the light doesn't come until you connect to your 2.4ghz wifi. The device did not recognize my GE air conditioner remote, a name brand, so I had to learn my remote with their basic app. I was hoping you could set a timer within the app to have the air conditioner come on when you want, but it doesn't do that. You can set the timer that is built into the air conditioner, but there is no way to tell what it is set at unless you are home looking at the air conditioner. If you are away from home the app doesn't even have verification that you turned it on, no green light on the on button in the app, it just vibrates when you push the button within the app. So, it does turn on my conditioner on, adjust the temperature, adjust the speed, etc. When I am away from home, but I have to no way of telling if it worked by looking at the app, you have to be right there looking at the device you want to control to verify the remote did what it was suppose to. If you want to have another remote on your phone then this will work, but if want a "smart" device to use when you are away from home, then you will be disappointed by this device, it is very basic and not really what I would call a smart device. ... show more

I bought this IR blaster to turn my dumb air conditioner into a smart air conditioner. I've been using it for about a month now and it's been working very good.

    • Works with ac that has a broken remote
This is a quick way to control your AC that you have lost remote or have a broken remote like I did. Setup is easy with the Tuya / Smart Life app and then connect it to Alexa. Just select the AC brand and the app will find it automatically. This smart IR control is quick to respond and works great.

    • Difficult to setup, and limited usage...
I thought I would try this instead of a broadlink device since it was less expensive and on vine. Unfortunately, it seems there are lots of things that are not well documented and that would make it difficult for non-techies. First was the power supply... like many of these, it includes a USB adapter but no wall wart. The typical USB power supplies I had did not seem to work nor would a computer USB. After boring a wart that I use for one of my Raspberry Pi devices, I finally got it online. Next was pairing it with all of my AV devices... while most major manufacturer and Chinese branded devices are there, I could not find a code for my old Yamakawa DVD player, my generic Karaoke player, nor my old VCD player. Granted these are older, but my Logitech Harmony that I am trying to replace supports these without issue. While it says I can program them, they are not compatible with voice commands... and since there is no remote that I can macro, this is not a good solution. I do like the timers, the WiFi stability, and the supposed unlimited number of devices supported (as long as they are within range). I am rating this three stars for what it does... and it would be four stars with a remote with macro features or better esoteric device support. I’m a very technically oriented person…. As much as I wanted to get this to work, I was unable to set up this controller. First, the unit would not power up after plugging it into my PC’s USB. Eventually, was able to get it into paring mode, but would never pair with my phone. Tried a number of things, but it should not be this difficult to set up the controller. Also, you’ll have to force your phone to use your slower 2.4G network if you want to use this (and that is something that I do not want to do.) ... show more
