it came and was as described runs good only thing i seen was mine does NOT have the taotao 50 emblem on the sides but other than that it looks good so far i got rhe 100cc bbk with a kehin carb ill put them on the the spring and update the increased performance EDIT** i put the 100cc bbk on this scooter with the kehin carb and it went from 25 mph top speed to 50-55 mph top speed definitely a must have bbk is the way to go!! ... show more

I thought I was saving money by purchasing a TaoTao. Sure, it looks nice but for SO many reasons, this scooter is NOT worth low cost. The materials are low grade. The add is misleading on the warranty and the maximum weight that the scooter can carry, among other misrepresentations. The rear shock blew apart after only 37 miles of gentle riding on paved roads. Now it is even more unsafe to operate and will damage more parts if it is ridden. Rattles and crackling sounds are commonplace because of the thin, cheap plastic used. Wheels and tires are extremely out of balance. Smart Deals Now will send the vehicle and the paperwork, then will not return any calls if you have any issues. AND YOU WILL HAVE ISSUES!!! The Tao Motor Company will not do anything to help unless your problem is with the exhaust ONLY. You will initially spend less but you get what you pay for. Once you get the scooter, you are stuck with it. AMAZON is supposed to provide quality products and services. Well, you guys need to drop Smart Deals Now and their TaoTao ATM50. COMPLETELY DISSATISFIED!!! $800 wasted!!! ... show more

This requires quite a bit of assembly and it needs to be someone who is VERY familiar with mechanics. We were lucky to have someone, or we would have had to pay someone to put it together. Also even the mechanic had to watch the YouTube video instructions because none were included. The 1st battery we rec'd was dead BUT they sent us a second larger, better battery pretty quick. How can I get a steering column for this scooter? Can I get one ordered to me if I call smart deals even if my warranty ran out I need specific part the steering column nothing fits the parts aren't in the USA.

    • What a piece of junk.
I assembled the scooter, changed the oil, charged the battery and the scooter would not turn over. It was ceased up pretty good. Kick start would not operate. I disassembled to the point where I could put a wrench on the crank and get the motor to turn but it was pretty tough to get it to spin. I then took apart the starter and found it was bound up pretty bad. After freeing it, I got the thing to turn over with the starter but never got it running. Something is still making the motor bind up, causing the starter to drain the battery after maybe 15-20 seconds. It is getting fuel from a carb you cant clean and is easier just to replace. Pretty dumb. It is getting spark. Called Smart deals now and spoke with the worst customer service who clearly had no intentions of making things right. I paid $495 on Amazon and would definitely not recommend to anyone and no way in hell is it worth the aggravation unless you like having to fix new products right out of the box. ... show more
