Why can't I find "Doorbell rings" as a trigger in Google Home? You may be creating a Personal Routine. Google Home only supports doorbell event triggers in Household Routines. Please select "Household Routine" when setting up the automation. Why is there a delay before the chime rings? Battery-powered Nest Doorbells may have a few seconds of delay because they enter low-power mode to save battery. Wired models respond faster. The delay comes from the doorbell waking up, not the chime. Will the chime work if my phone is turned off or I'm away from home? Yes. After setup, the chime works independently through your home WiFi connection. Your phone is only needed for initial setup or changing settings.

Did not work with wired Nest doorbell
This is the most useless device I have ever ordered from Amazon! I ordered it because my wife says that the nest doorbell (wired) does not ring the ancient doorbell on the wall, so I ordered this device which didn’t have any negative reviews. I installed the SmartLife app & set up a username & pw. I already had Google Home and my doorbell was already connected to Google Home. With considerable difficulty I got the device connected to the SmartLife app & to the Wi-Fi and was able to successfully connect it to Google Home and then was able to successfully set up an automation with some difficulty, and I can make the device ring by pushing the automation button on Google Home but I cannot make it ring by pushing the nest doorbell button. The troubleshooting steps were not helpful, my setup passed all of the tests given and the online manual was 3 pages & appeared the same as or very similar to the printed installation guide that came with the device. I spent 3 hours determining that I could not make it work. ... show more

I’m really happy with this chime. I like that it works as both a doorbell chime and a night light, which is especially handy at night. The light has three brightness settings, so I can keep it fairly dim without making the room too bright. There are a lot of ringtone choices and several volume levels, which is nice because I was able to find a setting that works for me. The Wi-Fi connection also makes it easy to put the chime wherever I need it without worrying about running wires. Setup wasn’t completely plug-and-play since you have to use both the SmartLife and Google Home apps, but the instructions were clear and walked me through it. Overall, I think it’s a great addition to my Nest Doorbell. It does what I wanted, gives me plenty of options, and I really like not having to pay a monthly fee. ... show more

The night light is a great bonus
I originally bought this for the doorbell chime, but the built-in night light ended up being one of my favorite features. I have it in the hallway and use the lowest brightness at night. It gives just enough light without lighting up the whole room.

The nightlight alone is worth it
Bought this mainly so I'd actually hear the doorbell in the back of the house, but the little nightlight ended up being the surprise winner. We've got it plugged in by the hallway and it gives off just enough glow for the kids to find the bathroom at night without waking everyone. Chime works great with our Nest battery doorbell. Perfect for my MIL's place
Got this for my mother-in-law who's hard of hearing. The chime is loud and clear, and she loves the soft nightlight in the hallway so she's not tripping in the dark. She was able to use it after I set it up for her. Great little device.
