UPDATE: After writing my original review, I turned off the time schedule for each bulb only to find each light on the following morning. These bulbs' programming are seriously buggy. My Kasa smart bulbs are much more reliable and follow their set schedule as specified. Additional Update: I've been using these bulbs for well over a year now and they have become more reliable. In addition, the problem I originally experienced was immediately addressed by the company. They were kind, communicative, and provided ample detail to walk me through the issue ensuring its resolution. I've had little to no issues with these bulbs since. Highly recommend. These lights were a bit of a hassle to set up. They would connect to the Internet and then disconnect themselves and more often than not, I'd have to remove the device from the app completely and start the connection process over again from scratch. They finally seem to be staying connected but now they're randomly turning on all by themselves. Wtf, creepy!!! I set up a schedule for the lights to turn on and off at certain times throughout the week. Well, apparently these lights have a mind of their own. Schedule be damned!! For example, I randomly awoke at 2AM this morning to find several of my smart, candlestick bulbs on. So, naturally I looked at the schedule to ensure they were programmed correctly and *gasp* they were. Not OK!! Thus prompting me to write this review. I know they turned off when they were scheduled to go off because I watched this happen so they're just randomly turning back on. This strange phenomenon has occurred more than once as witnessed by one of my other house dwellers as well. In summation, none of the bulbs I have installed correctly follow the schedule or plan that I have set up for them. So time wasted on that front making the bulb at least 50% useless since, for me, having a schedule was half the reason - if not most of the reason - why I purchased "smart" lights to begin with. ... show more

Our back porch/patio has a light that take these smaller sized bulbs with the little E12 base on them. We wanted something to liven up the area so I went searching for smart bulbs for it. I didn't think they made them for it, but I found these and they work great. They fit perfectly into my fixture and I was able to hook Alexa up to them too. A+++!!! ... show more

These little guys are pretty bright for there size and are easy to set up. The colors are bright and vibrant. My kids love changing the color of them. I bought them because I was looking too control my lights with Alexa and I am suprised at how well they worked. It was simple and straightforward. You use them with smartlife first and then you can connect them to Alexa. They are on the pricey side but still cheaper than most others. But I found them to be worth it. So I purchased a pack of 4 of these and received them today. They were easy to setup. That's the end of my positive review. Now on to the deceptive advertising. To use all 4 bulbs and any additional tuya smart life brand product they want you to pay per week, per month or per year to use them. $5 per week. $15 per month or $25 per year. They allow you to use 2 bulbs per account for free. If you attempt to create 2 accounts, the app crashes and they tell you falsely that your settings on the first two bulbs will be lost in the cloud if you log out. I had to install the app on two different phones to create two accounts to pair 4 bulbs. Then you have to go into the Alexa app and thankfully for now there are two smart life skill login options for each set of bulbs for each of the two accounts otherwise pairing all 4 bulbs with Alexa would be impossible without having to be extorted the above prices to use these light bulbs. False advertising as they don't tell you the app will be nearly useless without having to pay the above subscription fees. Buyer beware. I'll keep them for now, but may soon become worthless if this company decides to charge for use on all devices. Wouldn't shock me. Update: The manufacturer got back to me in response to this review the same day it posted. Apparently there are multiple apps going by the name of Smart Life and they all pair with these bulbs. Two of the apps are scams to get money from unsuspecting people and the legitimate one shows a logo with a home and wifi signal pointing out the right side of the home, not to the left. They said they were going to work to get these scam apps removed the Apple app store. Beware of these apps. Don't download them. I paired these bulbs with the correct app, deleted the scam apps and everything works as it should. These scam apps may be the reason for some of these bad reviews. ... show more

    • Easy Setup but Frustrating to Use Daily

Setting these Lightinginside E12 smart bulbs up was honestly super easy. Connecting them to the SmartLife app and my Alexa hub took less than a minute per bulb, including installation. Everything paired quickly and worked right away without any issues. The problem started with the way the bulbs work with a regular wall switch. If you turn the lights off using Alexa or the app, you can’t turn them back on from the wall switch anymore. You have to open the app or use Alexa to turn them back on first before the physical switch works again. I’m used to using TP-Link Kasa smart bulbs (they don’t make this particular bulb), and they don’t have this issue at all. With those, the wall switch still works normally no matter how the light was turned off. This became really annoying in everyday use, especially for other people in the house who just want to use the switch normally. The setup and smart features were great, but this issue was a dealbreaker for me and I ended up returning them. ... show more

    • The trouble with smart ight bulbs...

Smart lightbulbs are great for a while, until you start realising that flicking the switch at the door is much easier than "smart" methods of turning room lights on/off. The variable colors are cool, the dimming is cool but it's still about manually messing about with an app or talking to your smart hub versus toggling a switch and the switch is smarter by a mile. The closest smart lightbulbs come to the toggle switch simplicity is if you also use a smart hub that can use something like ultrasound to detect the room has someone in it or is empty and just leave the smart hub to turn the lights on/off when the room is populated/empty. That's not 100% reliable and can turn the lights off when you are in the room and putting an Alexa device having ultrasound detection or equivalent in every room just to avoid toggling the switch at the door makes smart bulbs seem a lot less smart than they claim. I also find them really unreliable, each month I have to reset and re-install one or two. Then, all but the most recent wifi connection points don't support many simultaneous connected devices, I have over thirty lights on each floor of my house. I admit, having the lights dimmed to the lowest level when I go to bed is good for winding down but I doubt the claimed 1% brightness level is honest, if I ever put a light meter in a room and measure the difference between light energy at different dimmer levels I'll be sure to update my post. ... show more
