I bought this SMALLRIG protector for my Sony ZV-E1 and it was a pleasant surprise. Despite being an inexpensive accessory, it's clearly well made and so thin that once applied, you can barely notice it. Installation was simple and there were no bubbles. The touchscreen still works smoothly, as if nothing were on it, which is key on cameras like the ZV-E1, where everything is controlled from there. I've seen comments about bubbles or peeling off. I've been using the same protector for a long time, and everything has been great.

tl;dr My new favorite screen protector. I've used Vello screen protectors exclusively for the past 12-13 years. With their massive price hikes in recent years, I was looking to find an alternative for my Sony α7C II. Enter SmallRig. I'm pretty familiar with the company, having owned their top handles and plates in the past. I was only recently made aware that they entered the screen protector market, and given this product's price point, it was well worth a try. I wasn't disappointed! This screen protector fits better than the Vello option. It's ever so slightly narrower, which increases the margin of error when installing, but doesn't compromise coverage or protection. If the protector is too exact, you're guaranteed to experience lifting or bubbling at the edges. It's thin, 0.1 mm thinner than the Vello, but for all intents and purposes, it should provide the same level of protection from grit, glancing scratches, and oils—your daily hazards. Anything that would crack this thing will crack something 0.1 mm thicker. Installation was straightforward: clean with the included alcohol wipe, buff with cloth, use an air blower, slowly line up, and lay on the screen, allowing the static to take hold. Use a lens cloth to press out any air and help adhere the protector. Doing so with a bare finger may shift the protector before static fully grabs hold of it. Pro tip: Test fit beforehand to gauge how much gap each side should have, so you'll have a sense of what to expect when installing.

This screen protector is a must-have for my Sony A6700! It fits perfectly, maintaining full touchscreen functionality without any lag. No bubbles, comes with multiple screen protectors and cleaning kits (4 total). Easy install, instructions on box. No guide needed, can push the sides with the back side of your finger nails if it’s off by a hair and it will move perfectly into place. Necessary to avoid scratches on screen, the protector is scratch resistant itself. Touch functionality is perfect and 100% unaffected by the screen protector. I can flip the screen on my A7CR over and it will close screen side down (toward the body) and snap into place. For the price it’s a steal.

Sometimes, it’s the small things that make a big difference, and Smallrig did it. I wasn’t expecting to have much to say about something as basic as a screen protector, but here we are. This tempered glass protector gets the job done, no fuss, no frills—and at a great price, too. Installation Made Easy (Mostly) First off, they gives you everything you need to prep your camera screen. The kit comes with alcohol wipes, a dust remover, and a microfiber cloth, so you can clean the screen properly before applying the protector. That’s always a good start. One thing I wish they’d included is a guide tool to help line it up perfectly. It’s not a dealbreaker, though—lining it up by hand is straightforward enough, thanks to the precise size of the protector. It fits snugly on the screen and once it’s in place, it’s practically invisible. Surprise Bonus: It’s a 3-Pack! The biggest surprise was opening the box and realizing it’s actually a 3-pack. That’s an unexpected win in my book. Whether you’re prone to scratching your screen protectors or just like having spares, this adds a lot of value. I’m usually pretty careful with my gear, but it’s nice knowing I’ve got backups if I ever need them. Thin but Tough The 0.4mm thickness strikes a nice balance. It’s thin enough that it doesn’t interfere with the touch sensitivity of the screen, but still feels sturdy and protective. Screen closes as expected after the installation.
