  • Very light yet sturdy and tall tripod that can also be used to take pictures at ground level!
Absolutely excellent tripod for how lightweight it is. The ball joint on the head is very smooth to move at half way unlocked and solid as can be when fully locked. The trick to flipping the center post so that you can mount your camera inches from the ground for low angles is to unscrew the hook that's by the feet when they are folded up. Then you loosen the height adjustment and can pull it all the way out. Very cool tripod. ... show more

  • Very slim and light Tripold
This SmallRig AP-02 Lightweight Travel Tripod is very extremely light weight and folds to a very slim size. There tripod is comparable to a popular premium travel tripod at nearly half the price. Because of its light weight and compact folded size, there have been some compromises made. Like most travel tripods, this tripod doesn't have the best stability and will sway under windy conditions. Although the tripod is weight rated to hold a DSLR with telephoto lens, I would only use it with a telephone lens if I were on perfectly level ground, under perfect weather conditions (no breeze) and when there is no chance of anyone bumping into it. Attaching my backpack to the hook at the bottom improves the tripods stability sufficiently when it's not being used with the 70-200mm telephoto lens. A heavy/stable tripod is useless when left at home, so I'm perfectly happy to carry and use this tripod.. ... show more

  • Good tripod for lighter, smaller cameras
I tried a couple of travel tripods looking for one that fit in my carry on. I liked the ball mount head in this one the best, but returned it for other reasons. I needed it for my DSLR camera, and even though my camera was 2 pounds under the weight load listed, it really wasn’t stable. This tripod is probably better for phones, or smaller cameras. It says it’s weighted up to 17.6 pounds, but my camera with cage + lens was just under 15 and it felt like it would fall over at any moment. I did use a lightweight cheese plate to adjust the mounting point for better balance, which helped some, but overall it did not seem sturdy. I went with the Small rig CT-20, which has beefier legs, is about 10” extra height, and almost half the price. The ball head is not as nice as this one, but the other trade offs are worth it. ... show more

  • Compact and light
Very happy with my tripod. It fits my Canon R5 with the battery grip, two batteries, and I am certain there's enough capacity for my EF 70-200mm 2.8L and EF 85mm 1.8L lenses. Adjustments at the head are fluid smooth ... and best of all it's fairly inexpensive. It is sturdy as well!

  • Can't access the screw mount for another head mount
I generally like Smallrig products but I was disappointed in the false advertising on this tripod. I think it's fine as a ball head tripod but you absolutely can't remove the ball head to use another head type on the base as was promised by the product information.

  • If you're looking for a light travel tripod, look no further!
I bought this tripod to bring along with me for travel work. At times I'm not sure if I'll need a tripod so I hate to bring a full-size tripod and take up all of the weight and space in my bag. This tripod fits nicely into the side pocket of my backpack and is barely noticeable. I picked up a small video fluid head to go with it so that I have the option of using it for photos and videos. Overall I highly recommend it! ... show more

  • Good tripod
This tripod is a good option — the height and weight are well balanced. However, it could use some improvements. It’s a bit too wobbly and lacks stability, making it best suited for photos only. I also wish it came with a higher-quality ball head mount, even if that increased the price. Lastly, I’m not a big fan of the blue color; a black version would be a better option. ... show more
