This SmallRig AP-02 Lightweight Travel Tripod is very extremely light weight and folds to a very slim size. There tripod is comparable to a popular premium travel tripod at nearly half the price. Because of its light weight and compact folded size, there have been some compromises made. Like most travel tripods, this tripod doesn't have the best stability and will sway under windy conditions. Although the tripod is weight rated to hold a DSLR with telephoto lens, I would only use it with a telephone lens if I were on perfectly level ground, under perfect weather conditions (no breeze) and when there is no chance of anyone bumping into it. Attaching my backpack to the hook at the bottom improves the tripods stability sufficiently when it's not being used with the 70-200mm telephoto lens. A heavy/stable tripod is useless when left at home, so I'm perfectly happy to carry and use this tripod..

Very happy with my tripod. It fits my Canon R5 with the battery grip, two batteries, and I am certain there's enough capacity for my EF 70-200mm 2.8L and EF 85mm 1.8L lenses. Adjustments at the head are fluid smooth ... and best of all it's fairly inexpensive. It is sturdy as well!

Excellent tripod, very lightweight and easy to use. However, my camera did tip over as it's top heavy once you put the camera on. This is user issue, but if you use your camera in busy places where there are a lot of people walking, or high winds, this tripod will not work for you!

Smallrig makes such nice gear at surprisingly reasonable prices compared - in both quality and price - to other companies. The AP-02 is no different. Super solid, smooth operation and this tripod folds into a remarkably narrow form for travel. Being a metal tripod m, it’s heavier than a full carbon option from high end brands but not by much and it is so sleek and beautiful that I’m pleased with the trade off of weight to price. For only a few dollars more than the AP-01, I wanted the center column for additional height and ease of vertical adjustment even if it adds a few grams of weight. I always choose Smallrig if they make an option for the video/camera gear I’m shopping for.

I bought this tripod to bring along with me for travel work. At times I'm not sure if I'll need a tripod so I hate to bring a full-size tripod and take up all of the weight and space in my bag. This tripod fits nicely into the side pocket of my backpack and is barely noticeable. I picked up a small video fluid head to go with it so that I have the option of using it for photos and videos. Overall I highly recommend it!

The center column is triangular, allowing the tripod to be smaller in Diameter. This means that the tripod fits in your hand better! the lever clips allow you to fold it up quickly- very nice! It is aluminum, so if you hold it in a bare hand on a cold day, your hand will freeze! It is more wobbly than a carbon tripod, and it feels a bit rattle-y. But for the money, it is great! Oh, and the head is really good!

I can't believe how light and easy to carry this tripod is. The triangular legs are ingenious because it packs to such a small diameter. I like the ball head with the lever lock. When this tripod is up, it's rock solid. When it's down, it's a breeze to strap to a camera bag.

I really like this tripod. When collapsed, the diameter is fairly small and it fits into my bag well. However, for a tripod sold as a "travel" tripod, the collapsed length is a bit longer than I'd want. Weight is fine.
