Description

A Small Pellet Basket is a metal basket that sits inside a woodstove and uses wood pellets; eliminating the need for electric and natural gas. Pellet baskets are a lower-cost alternative to pellet stoves. Simply place the basket in your wood stove, fill it with wood pellets, light the pellets with gel fire starter. Add more pellets, when needed. Scoop the hot pellets to one side with a metal scoop, add new pellets next to the hot pellets. The hot pellets will ignite the new pellets. Always adjust your flue for a safe working temperature. Hardwood pellets are suggested. Dimensions are 12" W x 8" D x 6" high in front and 8" high in back.     • Easy conversation from wood to pellet stove
The media could not be loaded. I had read the other reviews about this product and most of them were negative. They said that the fire would not light or would not stay lit, or that the pellets didn’t burn down all the way. I didn’t find any of that to be true. Actually quite the opposite. When using quality fry pellets and a small piece of fire stater, the pellets caught as expected and when the basket is full, it burns for about two and a half hours. The pellets burn down to ash and there are a lot less than when using wood. I have an antique parlor stove with a small firebox so I ordered the small basket and it fit perfectly, with a nice gap at the two ends and at the back. My stove also has a very good draft so no need for a fan. The basket is made from welded steel and should last for quite a few years with regular use. Extremely rugged build quality. I used it daily in my woodstove all Winter and it's still in great shape. I was able to use it to heat the house with pellets without having to refill it more than every couple of hours. It takes time to get a technique going but it's a great solution.

    • Smoulders leaking smoke from woodstove
I hate to write bad reviews. Honestly. However, this product arrived with one bent bottom side. It still stood fairly even so I decided to give it a try. I used it in my Woodstock. It does not stay lit and it mostly smoulders filling the cellar with heavy smoke. It barely gives off any heat. Maybe it's a show piece for a fireplace, but I wouldn't risk the smoke. The shipping was $40. Very high. All in all a wasted $160... amazing. I could have paid my bills instead. Sorry....! ... show more

    • Part 2: Burns as well as a hardwood log
The media could not be loaded. Part 2: I loaded my large 1980s Troubadour wood burning stove with a small 12” pellet basket. I filled the pellets to the brim of the front wall of the basket. After ignition, the fire subsided and the chamber filled with smoke from smoldering pellets. To reignite the fire, I sprayed the pellets with a quick stream of water from a spray bottle.     • Can’t get pellets to burn
Like other reviewers have stated, you cannot fill this up and get even soft pellets to burn. I used liquid gel firestarter and that burns them it goes out and the pellets just smolder… very disappointed
