This mattress is the real deal. I just threw away a $2000 latex mattress I bought after a ton of research when it started smelling and pulled the trigger on this 14" elite on a whim. I like to sleep on a firm mattress, think air mattress filled up almost entirely. I was very skeptical buying an Amazon mattress that's a fraction of big brand prices without seeing it first, but my initial impression after 3 nights is that I'm incredibly impressed. First, while unboxing, it springs out quickly and begins inflating. There was an extremely mild chemical smell that disappeared within hours, and the mattress subsequently has had no smell. As somebody who's very fragrance sensitive, this was a big win immediately. I gave it 36 hours to rise before use. It is extremely firm in the best way - edge support is as good as any mattress I've tried, feels like I'm sitting on a wooden chair. The mattress itself while on my back or side gives great support with almost no give. It's almost too firm, but I imagine it'll break in over the course of a few weeks. I'm 5'10 180lb with a good amount of muscle and a sore back so anything with sink causes me pain, while this matress does not. It is also extremely cool, which is somehow magic to me. Memory foam is usually pretty bad at keeping cool and I sleep very hot, but I have had an issue with staying cool on this mattress even with a thick comforter which has usually not been the case. Overall I am extremely impressed so far. The 365 day trial also instills a lot of confidence in the purchase. I'll update this review a year later to see how the mattress has held up but for the price I wouldn't even mind if I had to buy one every few years ... show more

My husband and I have been sleeping on an all foam mattress the past 10 years. It was ok, but I started having many episodes of back pain this year. I was advised to get a firmer mattress. I found this one on Amazon and was skeptical to get it due to how affordable it is and it having springs but arrives rolled up. It arrived a day earlier than promised, but we waited to unroll it until Friday morning since we weren’t sure if we could sleep on it same day. It says it needs up to 72 hours to fully expand. This mattress was a heavy beast. With my back issues, hubby had to do the majority of the work. I was disappointed that when it was unrolled, the sleeping side was facing the floor, and the top/bottom were on the sides. We had to flip and rotate this large (king), heavy mattress. But that was the worst of the experience. We unrolled it at 5 am, and by the time we went to bed around 8:30, it seemed to be expanded enough so we decided to sleep on it. WOW! Best night’s sleep in a long time! Even better the second night! It was firmer than our foam mattress ended up before we got rid of it. But it was still soft enough that you don’t feel like you’re sleeping on a hard board. It has the right amount of support. I’m normally a side sleeper, but I have been sleeping a lot more on my back too because it has such good support! Any way I sleep, this has been comfortable and supportive. I love how tall the mattress is, and it seems to be made out of good materials. Obviously I can’t speak to the durability, and we’ll see how well the springs hold up, but so far I am so happy with this purchase. If you’ve been having back pain and/or need a new mattress, I highly recommend this one. My back pain has significantly improved to where I hardly have any after 2 nights on this mattress.     • I sleep a lot.
I sleep like a baby. It fits my bed fairly well. I have built in drawers under my bed so my bed is a little larger than normal, but it fits the king frame well. It is a wonderful value. Alot of bang for your buck. As I said, I sleep like a baby. The bed is super supportive of my old joints. I must say my back feels better just because I sleep more comfortably. The set up was easy. I was redecorating my room, so I was sleeping in a different room, so I gave the mattress 3 days to inflate to its normal size. If I am not mistaken, the packaging said 24 hours. Either way it was inflated and ready by the 24 hour mark. It comes shrink wrapped in this box. I worried it was gonna throw me into a wall when I opened it. IT DID NOT. JUST FOLLOW THE OPENING INSTRUCTIONS. I was cowering away like I was trying to open a can of biscuits. As for the cooling, I don't really notice it.     • Don't Second Guess, Buy It!
This is my first hybrid mattress; I usually buy the traditional types. Thought I would try one based on a friend’s recommendation. I am 100% sold on this mattress, I love it after the first night. I decided on the medium/firm 14”, and it was the perfect choice for my sleep needs (I suffer from back issues herniated disk). The pillow top is lovely and soft. And I have noticed after two nights of sleeping on it, I have been sleeping through the night whereas usually I wake up a few times a night hot or uncomfortable. Unpacking the mattress is a 2-person job as it weighs over 100 lbs. for the King size. Be careful when you open the plastic not to cut the mattress. Cut away from the mattress, expect it to expand rapidly and be sure you have an area that’s open, so it has room. There was no weird smell, and I only waited 8 hours before sleeping on it. My only complaint was the box was damaged during shipping, and half the product was exposed. Luckily since it is plastic there was no damage to the mattress. It was delivered from CA to FL in 6 days, so the shipping was fast. I think it’s a great budget friendly alternative to a traditional mattress. Overall, I would recommend this! ... show more

Update: Sleepmax did end up apologizing for how I was treated and that I was not satisfied with my purchase. However, I am still convinced that I was sent the absolute wrong mattress being as there’s a huge difference between an extra firm and a normal mattress. They would never concede that was a possibility, so just be aware. Unfortunately, I am still leaving my one star review because I absolutely did not receive the product that was described or ordered. If they are convinced I received an extra firm mattress, then this mattress is not worth anyone purchasing at all. I really don’t like to leave bad reviews but after my email exchange with Sleepmax, I feel like I must warn others. We ordered the extra firm king 14” mattress with reinforced edges. We let it expand as directed. We were switching it out with our 6 yr old firm mattress. As soon as we got it on our bed and I sat down, I knew there was a problem. I immediately sank down and almost slid on the floor. Then I scooted to the side I sleep on and propped up in a semi reclining position and my butt sank down in the mattress. We immediately knew there was no way this was an extra firm mattress. Contacted Amazon and they offered a refund, which we appreciated. Because you can’t get this mattress back in the box they told us just to do what we wanted with the mattress. I contacted Sleepmax to let them know about the wrong item being sent so they could check their warehouse and this wouldn’t happen to anyone else. Long story short…they basically accused me of lying and seemed upset that Amazon offered us a refund. I NEVER ASKED FOR ONE! I just wanted the mattress exchanged for the correct one. I was going to reorder the same mattress because we really wanted that one but Sleepmax could not or would not guarantee we would receive the correct one! I am flabbergasted! Sleepmax then told me we need to go to a mattress store and buy one there if we wanted to be certain what we would receive. Excuse me?! I’ve never heard of a company NOT wanting someone’s business!     • Weighs as much as a hippo But extremely comfy!
My mattress was delivered early! Great! Well, you’d think so. Until you know that I am a 4’8” woman who weighs less than this behemoth. Originally it was supposed to be delivered when my husband was home-he’s an over the road truck driver. So of course it came when I was alone. I thought-no biggie, I’m a strong independent woman…i can do this. The driver didn’t put it on my porch so my first task was to get this giant box up on the porch. That’s when I realized I was in trouble. That thing weighs a ton! Pretty sure my neighbor across the street was having the time of his life cackling at me angrily trying to move this hippopotamus sized box. Finally I decided to flip it end over end to get it on the porch and push it through the door on its side. Great plan right? Yeah. Next time I’ll remember to open the door first because angrily pushing the darn thing off the porch just so I had to do it all again (it’s a small porch) was not the best 30 mins of my life. I’m pretty sure I died about 7 times before I ditched the box in the kitchen and told my husband it was his problem when he got home. Thankfully-this mattress was fully worth dying 7 times to get it in my house. It’s firm but comfortable. It’s nice and thick and best of all I don’t roll into my husbands spot because it supports both of our weights without pulling me into him-a wonderful change from our last mattress where I had to sleep like an insomniac toddle sprawled across the bed diagonally to avoid being rolled into his trench where I would be stuck desperately trying to get out of all night.
