  • Great for practice. Love the data. Full simulation features are tons of fun.
I really started playing golf early in 2025 and have quickly gotten addicted. Close to breaking 100 now after my first year and wanted to continue practicing over the winter. Skytrak products are known to be very accurate and quality devices. I haven't seen anything that would make me think otherwise. The new Skytrak Max is excellent. All the features of the Skytrak+ with more training tools, which is what I need as a beginner (but improving fast) golfer. I built my setup in my garage and it has been great. I have low ceilings so can't take full swings with most clubs, but getting in the reps is the most important thing. I'm running Skytrak's software off a Macbook Pro M2 with a damaged screen and using an old Epson projector. Stretched a screen across my garage door, and am currently hitting hard foam balls from Almost Golf Balls. One sticking point is the hard-wired USB connection. I couldn't get it to work with my Macbook at all. I tried all of the troubleshooting tips, it just never worked. In Wifi-direct mode, it connected quickly and worked great - the main issue with that is you're not connected to the internet when in wifi-direct mode, thus can't download any courses. Also you can't even access that section of the main menu when not connected to the Skytrak unit, so you can't even go into the course selection to download them. Very frustrating. The only way to get everything to work is to connect to the device in wifi-direct mode, then set it up on your home network in network mode. For me, this worked well as my garage has good wifi, but I can see this being an issue for others. Driving range is great. I hit it left, ball goes left. Chunk it, yardages suffer. My bad slice is ever in play and pretty accurately displayed when I don't close the club face. Even with the foam balls, launch angles seem to be pretty accurate. Distances definitely are off with the balls being hard foam, but all the distance numbers are very consistant club to club. The course simulator is a lot of fun. Slightly difficult to play since I can't swing full and can't hit my longer clubs like Driver or 3 wood, but gives me a lot to work towards as I've only played 4 18 hole rounds and 3 9 hole rounds this past year. The subscritpion is pretty expensive. I chose the core sub with trackman courses and although similarly priced across the spectrum with other simulators/launch monitors, I do wish they had some built in courses for free for at the most basic subscription level at half the cost (or no cost if you don't use any subscription). Completely understand the business model, just wish it was less! Overall, very happy with the Skytrak. I plan to use it in the garage all winter, and move it outside so I can hit all clubs with real balls. Also plan on using it at the range for better data so I can gradually improve for the future. ... show more

  • The Truth Teller Your Golf Game Needs
This thing completely changed how and where I practice. I’ve used it indoors in front of a screen and outdoors at the driving range, and both setups work well for different reasons. Indoors, it turns practice into something structured and repeatable. You get real numbers instead of guessing, which makes every swing intentional. Outdoors at the range, it’s great for dialing in distances and seeing ball data without needing a full simulator setup. That flexibility alone makes it incredibly valuable. The data is where SkyTrak really shines. Ball speed, launch angle, spin, carry, and shot shape are consistent and reliable. It doesn’t sugarcoat anything. If your swing is off, it tells you immediately. That can be humbling at first, but it’s also what makes it so useful. You start to see patterns instead of relying on feel alone. It’s also great for speed training and focused practice sessions, not just full swings. Over time, it helps you understand your misses, not just react to them. There are a few things people should know going in. Setup and alignment matter. If it’s not positioned correctly, your data will be off, and that’s usually user error, not the unit. It takes a little patience to dial in, especially indoors with space constraints. Lighting can matter, and you need to be realistic about ceiling height and ball placement. Some people expect it to be plug-and-play perfect in five minutes, and that’s the biggest misconception. Once it’s set correctly, though, it’s rock solid. Overall, this is a serious training tool, not a toy. It works whether you’re hitting into a screen at home or standing on a range mat, and the feedback it gives makes practice more productive. Yes, it’s an investment, but the quality, accuracy, and flexibility justify the cost if you’re committed to improving. It doesn’t lie, it doesn’t guess, and it doesn’t let you hide from your swing. And that’s exactly why it works. ... show more

  • Nice upgrade from the + model with charging & playing at same time
The new added features of speed training and dual USB ports make all the difference. You can now charge and have data flow at the same time. This is a major improvement from the older version that had connectivity issues which improves the quality. Connectivity is easier and stays connected which improves functionality. It looks better too with new color. Comes with two week trial as a bonus. However I can't see the benefit in the extra nearly one grand price increase from the + model. ... show more
