  • Accurate, Easy to Use, and Super Convenient!
Accurate, Easy to Use, and Super Convenient! I bought this Pocket Radar Smart Coach to measure my son's pitching speed, and it works perfectly! It’s highly accurate, easy to set up, and provides instant speed readings. The compact and portable design makes it super convenient to bring to practice sessions. I also love that it connects to the Pocket Radar App for tracking progress over time. The display is clear, and the voice announcements are a nice touch. Overall, this is a reliable, well-built, and must-have tool for anyone looking to measure pitching or sports speed. Highly recommended! ⚾💯 ... show more

  • An absolute must. This inexpensive tool will give you the most benefit for your dollar.
This radar is spot on! It went tit for tat against the stalker pro, 2mph lower speed reading on pitches below 80mph, 81mph+ it had a 3mph lower reading. The readings were perfectly consistent with the big boy, and it was even able to get accurate readings from more peripheral positioning then the $2000+ model. The size and portability are amazing! It will fit in your pocket! We set ours up on a dewalt laser level tripod with the phone attachment so it can be positioned easily and changed often with no hassle. Has plenty of room for error and is so easy to use my little kids can use it. A tripod is not needed, but it is a great tool if it's just you and your player. A tripod will be necessary if they plan to train alone. Get the coach bundle if you can afford it it's definitely packed full of usefull features that can give you the actual differences in your fast pitches, slow pitches, exit speed, etc. If not the basic gun is on point and well worth the cost if you just want to find out how your player, or players stack up in the speed department. I have not been paid or given any discounts to write this review. Definitely thought others could use the info. Save yourself thousands of dollars on more than just a radar gun, and get this amazing tool. It can and will improve your game in a multitude of ways. Skip a few lessons and pay for this item while it's still priced so low. You will not regret the decision, for us we skipped a new bat this year and paid the same for the package. We haven't had to pay for a lesson since, and every aspect of our players game has improved greatly. ... show more

  • An excellent day one
I don't write reviews, this is my first, but this device is not cheap and I'm sure there are other parents out there who are considering it and concerned if it will work for their kids' tennis. It does. I got it today and I was very happy to find it did exactly what I hoped it would do. So I'm the father of 4 junior tennis players. Recently they all started doing USTA tournements. It was clear that their serves needed development. My thinking was that if they could see their baseline speeds, and if they could receive real time feedback, then they could develop much faster serves. Plus it's a fun toy. After looking at several options – over a period of two or three months – and after considering even the more expensive radar guns, I finally ordered this "Smart Coach" over the weekend. It came today. I found it easy to operate. The manual was well written and easy to follow. The app downloaded and synched with my iphone without any problems. The orientation of the of camera is a little buggy, and I wasn't entirely certain how to turn off the app to see if the camera was properly recording -- but here's the thing, the app cuts the videos into segments and puts the speed right on them. It doesn't get better than that! My 16 year old son was very happy to discover his serves are mostly in the mid 80s (his baseline), and he reached 92 mph on his first day with it. So now he's excited to break a hundred; and with this device and the video app, I have no doubt he will. This was an excellent day one. ... show more

  • Most accurate under $400.00
Not only great for pitching, but a great way to get exit velocity. +/- 1 mph from the Stalker pro II SVR.

  • Works as advertised, tennis accuracy low
I’ve ordered 4 of the radar devices, 2 from this company. The others have not worked and one had broken components. This one worked, all was good, and controls, and interfaces with Phone Apps and Watches works as advertised. It appears that generally, it records speed, but the way it works appears to have accuracy problems, exacerbated by light conditions for tennis. The serve accuracy is very suspect at the higher speeds. Other technologies ( In/Out) give differing readings/speeds. Was looking for portability, and ability to move locations, ( which it has) but would like better accuracy. ... show more

  • Sooooo helpful
Perfect for pickleball. This thing is absolutely what you would dream of if you were creating a product. First of all it works with pickleball and not all radars do. Secondly you can plug it in so you never wear out the batteries. The fact that I can look back quickly and see when I hit a ball faster and watch myself on a quick 6 second video is so helpful. You can quickly adjust. For example I realized I was hitting the ball too far away from my body. The second I started hitting it closer the ball went from 40 miles an hour to around 44 mph instantly. It's little tweaks like that that make it incredibly effective. Life is short. I would not hesitate to buy this product. To me it's better than private lessons. I can do this when I want and where I want for as long as I want. And you can study the video! Furthermore there is YouTube to see what the stroke should be and you can compare it to yours and basically teach yourself what you need to be doing. Why spend 90 bucks a lesson when you can own this? Absolutely fabulous product. Do not hesitate to purchase it and make sure you get the good one that records video through your phone or tablet ... show more

  • Spendy but very good
Like nearly everything else associated with kids sports, this is expensive. But this smart version is really great. The Bluetooth feature is worth the extra cost, and I’ve seen other very expensive radar guns next to it generate the same readings (or within 1 mph), so the accuracy is there. One gripe is that while the concept of the Pocket Radar app is cool, when you use the camera access feature, it doesn’t give you the maximum benefit of the camera capabilities. Love being able to video a pitch and embed the speed into the video. But once I upgraded my phone to get a much nicer camera, it became apparent that when using the app my camera was under utilized. But overall this thing is great, and I suspect if I ever want to sell it, I can get at least half of my money back—unlike most kid sports related purchases. ... show more

  • Works perfect, great addition to the gear bag
Bought this to help my highschool player track pitching and hitting speed, works perfect. The bluetooth functionality is definitely worth the extra cost as you can pair it with the app for tracking sessions. Also works when paired with GameChanger for that super cool all-in-one solution to pitch tracking! The only issue I have with this is battery life when connected to my phone. When run off either rechargeable or disposable alkaline batteries, the battery life is terrible. I just run it off a USB battery pack and it'll got all day. If you're just using it handheld (not connected to bluetooth) battery life is fine, but when you run it full time connected to your phone/tablet, expect it to eat batteries. ... show more
